Poor kids, this is one of the most disgusting ways a child can be taken advantage of. It's a good thing teachers who get caught doing this usually have their lives ruined but it doesn't help the kids. I hope victims of this kind of stuff get the therapy they need.

I'm saying that teaching to most people is an undesirable job and attrition rates are high. Because of this schools have less stringent higher practices which allow under qualified people and predators to slip into schools.

My history teacher back in secondary school fucked a student in my year. She was married to a geography teacher in the same school. People are mad.
The power element isn't in play. Being the authority figure in these types of situation (regardless of gender) is playing into their behavior, rather than dissuading them from it.

A lot of reasons actually. Sometimes these women are mentally unstable, it is a fantasy, personal life issues, or simply because they have power over these boys. Some of these women don't really have a lot of power at home; so they take advantage of the boys. Mostly, the women are emotionally unstable or immature for whatever reason, I think, is the overall reason stuff like this happens.
Addressing the sexually urges part, well it is not proper for women to look for sex exclusively because of shaming. It is changing however. Combined emotional/mental immaturity or being emotionally/mentally unstable, in a environment with emotionally underdeveloped children you get these people taking advantage over the situation.
This is something I've thought about to. A lot of the people who do stuff like this are reasonably young and attractive people who would probably have no problem getting sexual hookups on Tinder and what not if they so desired. So ultimately I think it comes down to some kind of mental disorder.

Haha really? I would think that having fantasies about student/teacher relations is super common. There's a reason why tons of porn center around it. I'm sure being a hot teacher that everyone in class would want to sleep with can be a big turn on for some.

Nope. 2 kids from a different school don't accidentally end up hooking up with a teacher they'd probably have no affiliation with otherwise. I'm not defending or condoning any adult's behavior in any of these instances but but I think it's pretty naive to believe at least some level of consent happened in this specific case.

It never makes much sense. Why out yourself, ruin your career, and possibly go to jail just for a cheap thrill or power trip? And they usually pretty attractive too, so it makes even less sense even as a power trip.

I will say my 16 year old son has had a girl in her early 20's very into him for a couple years now. It's not a school situation so the age gap is not as noticeable. I noticed right away how much she preened around him right from the start. It has slowly grown and she is more and more obvious about it. My son is not really there yet so he is kinda oblivious and this just makes her work that much harder. It has never bothered me in any way, it has also never progressed, that being said there is no doubt in my mind she would jump at the chance. At a recent event I pointed her out to my wife, I assumed she saw it from the start as well as its painfully obvious and I meant it as a laugh. She went full Momma bear and walked up to the girl and asked how old she was and told her to think about her age. The penny clearly never dropped for my wife before this moment. This subject is always going to be super polarizing, to me it was a good chuckle from afar and my wife was pissed.

Per the article in the OP she's only facing a single assault charge for the underage student; the others are troubling ethically and morally but she likely won't face legal repercussions unless there was other stuff (payment for sex, drugs) involved.
She might be placed on a list if convicted of a felony. Her life is over regardless.
Girl has problems. 16 to early 20s is a huge developmental gap.
One was 17 the other 3 were 18, they are no kids.
The compete in an individual sport at a very high level. So the situation they are in, the development difference is kinda nullified. As he is a dude he is actually better than her and she looks to him athletically. I can see how it happens, she is a little nerdy and shy but I don't find anything wrong with her.

Fuck, as a parent these stories concern me. But at least it's not as bad as it was when our own parents were kids. Back then, it was more likely that the assault would be covered up, the teacher/counsellor/coach transferred to a different location. She won't face as much punishment as she ought to, but it's better than nothing.
