There’s no shortage of titles for RPG fans as Square Enix release ‘Dragon Quest Heroes’ (The World Tree's Woe and the Blight Below) at No19. There’s also room for ‘Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance’ by NIS America, which lands at No27 giving fans of the genre three titles to choose from. Finally Koch Media bring ‘Wasteland 2: Director’s Cut’ to Xbox One and PS4. The title includes a host of improvements and remastered visuals and rounds off this week’s new releases at No36

Some of those higher than I expected. But such terrible planning from publishers. Shocking really.

RockBand gone already.

Uncharted still holding on well for another week before the coming onslaught of games.

Great for BluePoint as the work they've done is immaculate.

Well unless the actual numbers are good, the sales position doesn't matter. DQH could have sold at number 18 what PW3 sold at number 31.

Wasteland didn't even chart! lol Must have sold a few hundred physical copies.

I thought Dragon Quest might break the top 10 which is a shame it didnt.Nice to see some JRpgs in the charts.

What was the debut for Graces F, Xilia, Xilia 2 and Symphonia HD?

I'm wishing and hoping so freaking hard that Tales of Zestiria do well worldwide... I love this series so much and a lot of hard work was put into TOZ.

I find Dragon Quest Heroes sales really disheartening, well at least I did my part...

Less than 5,000 units for Tales of Graces f and around 6,000 for Tales of Xillia.

Disgaea was never going to go that high, its an numbered iteration in an obscure strategy turn based RPG(that was barely advertised). It's done pretty well to get as high as it has.

FIFA PS4 + FIFA Xbone > UCC => FIFA PS4 + FIFA Xbone > 19100, so at least 41000 units combined. As FIFA Xbone > UCC it seems to be a close week between FIFA PS4 and FIFA Xbone.

But Forza 6 numbers are shrinking every week. I expect low sales in coming weeks and huge drop in sales. Well , i expect it for other titles as well.

Tales of Zestiria and Dragon Quest Heroes did far better than I expected. I was expecting in the mid 20s but both in the top 15 is great news.

Japanese games seem to have a better following on mainland Europe so I expect the France and Germany to make up the numbers.

Musou not so much but didn't the last Dragon Quest sold 1M in the West... on DS ?

Well lets see how well GH performs. It's even got TV ads but I think the boat has well and truly sailed on music instrument games that I doubt it'll do a great lot better than RockBomba.

2 different games. And Nintendo gave it more promotion that SE did for Heroes.

If I recall, some were predicting Uncharted sales would be higher this week as it only has a couple of days in the charts.
I dont know what to think of the numbers.

That was a mainline entry. And it shipped 1m in the West.

DQH below Tales of? That's a very disappointing result. One could say "well, it's UK" but Tales of sold better and it should be considered as nicher franchise in Europe than DQ (DQIX opened very high in UK - ok, it was Summer but stayed in the Top 10 for a lot of weeks).

Wasn't 1m eventually sold? The last known numbers for DQIX in the West was 1.1m IIRC. The leit-motiv was, though, that jRPG fans are on home consoles in Western markets, and the first DQ game on a Sony platform after 10 year hiatus should have done moderately well, regardless the genre (it's not a Musou, right? An action-RPG should be even better for Western tastes).

I don't know what people were expecting for JRPG's especially this time of year. It is usually just Final Fantasy that can break the top 10 for any length of time.

If they released in the late Spring or Summer it would have scored higher.

You seriously are comparing a musou DQ spin off, one that did quarter of DQ9 sales in Japan, to a mainline DQ entry? Never mind the fact that the last DQ in the west came out 6 years ago so brand relevancy is fairly diminished.

That's just people who don't realise two days of sales isn't really just two days of sales. It also potentially included months of pre-orders. So one, two, five days of sales aren't really significant indicators. At least until the industry stops doing pre-orders *cough*.

Not a comparison - just saying that DQ has had some relevancy in UK, a market typically seen as reluctant towards jRPGs. It is also true that DQ Heroes was seen as the comeback of the IP on Sony platforms - quite a big deal if you talk with the fanbase. We'll see whether DQ Heroes' performance in Western markets will be considered as good by Square Enix.

Goddamit UK. Buy DQH, I don't want SE get some excuses about sales to ignore DQXI localisation >.<

Tales of above Dragon Quest make sense, at least Bandai Namco properly took care of the franchise for western markets since several years now. Dragon Quest ? 10 years since the last game on PlayStation, and it's a spin off. Both results are shit though, and I don't expect the US to be any different. Hope to see both games in the french top 5 next week, but that's all.

Well, I cancelled my DQ pre-order when I found out there was no co-op. That's the main reason I play musou these days. Maybe I'm alone on that.

Zestiria was a pre-order though. Glad it's at least staying stable relative to the other entries in the UK. Probably an increased digital percentage these days + the PC release coming too?

For reference:

Dragon Quest IV (NDS): didn't chart at all
Dragon Quest V (NDS): didn't chart at all
Dragon Quest IX (NDS): #4 Individual Formats

DQIX held the 4th position for 4 consecutive weeks (it went up +27% during its second week), then 7-> 14 and so on.

The rising popularity of Dragon Ball Z didn't help Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butoden which tanked hard debuting in 10th place in the 3DS chart.
