Nomura Says Final Fantasy VII Remake & Kingdom Hearts IIIs Releases Still A Ways Off

What’s the development status on Kingdom Hearts III?

“The production process is different than what we’ve had up until now, so I can’t just give you a general idea, but I can say that there are worlds that still remain untouched. We’ve advanced on the production of worlds that have yet to be announced, so we can’t show them for now. As far as development status goes, there’s still a ways to go.”

What’s the development status on Final Fantasy VII Remake?

“We’re making steady progress on its production. While we are indeed working on it, I think we’ll have you guys wait a little longer for both Kingdom Hearts III and Final Fantasy VII Remake.

Oh boy, the title didn't fit lol

I was adamant KHIII would get a Winter 2017 release date and then a delay, but the former doesn't seem to be happening.

This year is the 15th anniversary of Kingdom Hearts, the 20th anniversary of Final Fantasy VII, and the 30th anniversary of Final Fantasy, so what can we expect?

“First, we’re releasing Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8: Final Chapter Prologue in January, then exhibiting a Final Fantasy VII snow sculpture at the Sapporo Snow Festival in February, releasing Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 Remix in March, and starting the Kingdom HEarts orchestra world tour. We may be able to do something for the D23 Disney event. We’re also preparing for the start of Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ Season 2.”

Will you release a complete package including Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 Remix and Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8: Final Chapter Prologue?

“Because the timing is delicate, we won’t be releasing anything like a complete pack this time, but we’re preparing a box that can hold both games, as is often the case with DVDs. Perhaps we can offer it as an e-Store bonus.”

What’s the state of Kingdom Hearts III‘s development?

“While I can’t make a sweeping statement because the development process is different from what we’ve done so far, there are still worlds untouched. Production is progressing on unannounced worlds, in a state that we cannot show them off. In terms of the state of development, there is still some way to go.”

What’s the state of Final Fantasy VII Remake‘s development?

“We’re steadily progressing on production. While we are making them, I apologize that the wait will be be a bit longer for Kingdom Hearts III and Final Fantasy VII Remake. I am very sorry, but to that degree I will make a game that will meet your expectations.

“Last year, I didn’t put out much information on either title, but this year I want to show our progress at an event somewhere. The release of the titles themselves have still have a way to go. But there are many titles releasing this year, if you can wait for any ‘surprises.'”

I wonder if square intends to go full steam into 7R and not bother with 16? That might actually be a good decision if they go for it.

KH3 will release in 2018 for sure. Square will set the deadline like they did with FFXV even when they needed more time

FF7 Remake since its only episode chunks it's possible to release later this year

That FF Versus XIII Famitsu interviews from pre 2011 tea

So all hope for FFVII Remake Part 1 in 2017 is gone :(

Hope FFXVI is being made lol

TBH I am more interested in moving forwards than backwards

Damn. At this rate, I will probably end up playing the inevitable Playstation 5 versions of these games.

Keep working, as long as it takes.

I'm pretty surpised though, SE gave Tabata a huge deadline for FF15 to the detriment of the game content, but they let Osaka team and FF7R get a lot of extra time.

Doesnt seem fair at all. I get they have to ship things eventually, but its a problem.

I guess they just wanted all hands on deck for other things? And i guess leave a much smaller group of people for DLC engagement

I didn't expect KH3 this year cause 1.5+2.5 and 2.8 are coming out within the next 4 months atleast.

As expected. Glad I had expectations for a late release which seems to be the reality. Hopefully they're making actual progress and not moving at a snail pace.

They can't even get FF7 "Part 1" out in a timely manner. They are going to take over a decade to get the full game out, aren't they?

Nomura is such a waste of time.

It takes a while to make games on this scope. Blaming Nomura because Osaka team has to work on a big huge project is not a reasonable thing. Neither is FF7R's condition.

We're getting 2 KH projects this year, i think that's enough for now

That's...that's fine...no, really...

Take all the time needed. XV was so much more than worth the wait. And I will be playing KH for the first time when all of the collections have been released on PS4 so that will hold me over for a while. I am looking forward to these masterpie

Based Nomura. Watch them remove him as director from FFVII and bring in Tabata. Then fans proceed to complain he never got to follow through with his vision lol.
