Quite a jump in popularity me thinks. Then again they showed quite a few TV ads here in Germany - should be the same in the UK I guess. That always helps with the sales.

Yeah, it is impressive to see Smash Bros. doing so well, I'd guess somewhere between 200-250K, which, like you said, is more than the last game managed in total. Advertising has once again been excellent here in the UK.Phife Dawg said:I didn't think SSBB would be this popular in the UK. ...remember, big budget crap is still crap
I was actually pointing out how fucking stupid it is to use subjective opinion of games in sales threads.HK-47 said:Dont say stupid things

My opinion of the quality of GTA4 has no more relevance than someone's opinion of Top Spin 3, when it comes to sales. This is really obvious.
No. He isn't right.HK-47 said:But he is right, they got away with selling lots of mediocre games...do you not see Carnival Games up there.
Nice edit there
Yes, yes, we should also remove the name and publisher info from the list. That way our discussion can be much more purely focused on what really matters.ziran said:No. He isn't right.
There are loads of other threads where people can bitch about how one game is factually shit, while other games are factually amazing, sales threads are much more productive if this kind of bollocks stays out.

I hope my Wii can read the disc. I know a couple of people who have had trouble
They both smoke around their consoles, we were talking the other night and I mentioned the Wii manual doesn't say anything (IIRC) about smoking around the console, but the PS3 manual does.
Having said that, the lenses must be crap -- it shouldnt happen at all.
I bought it on NTSC, so didn't bother with it for my PAL machine, and have had no problems but a few people I know have had problems with the PAL version.radioheadrule83 said:I fucking jinx'd myself -- my Wii won't read the disc ;_;
If you have recently purchased Super Smash Bros. Brawl and are experiencing technical problems playing the game on your Wii, please read the following information to learn how this issue can be resolved.
Super Smash Bros. Brawl utilises a double-layer disc which has a large memory capacity. A very small percentage of Wii consoles may have trouble consistently reading data off this large capacity disc if there is some contamination on the lens of the disc drive. Nintendo has specialised cleaning equipment that can resolve this problem. Please do NOT attempt to clean the lens yourself, as you may damage the system.
If you are experiencing disc read errors, please contact consumer Support or go directly to our Fast Track repair service and enter your information. There is no cost for the repair or shipping of your Wii to get the disc drive lens cleaned. (Please note: Returning the disc to the retail store will not solve the problem. We encourage users who are experiencing issues with playing Super Smash Bros. Brawl to utilise Nintendos repair service.)
Due to the nature of this particular issue, Wii owners should not lose any of their stored data, such as Virtual Console games and WiiWare software. In some rare cases you may have to re-download this software from the Wii Shop Channel, but there is no cost to doing so.

I trust your numbers, I must be wrong.nli10 said:My records have Wii Fit at 238,000 and Mario Kart Wii at 180,000 so it's less than both of those.
If stocks stay high then it could out pace MK in the next few weeks as stock dropped off for that in week 3 I think.
Amazing that the two fastest selling Wii games on launch are still on top 10 chart showing that they were not single audience games and have mass appeal. If stock is there they sell - hopefully the next few weeks will have enough to catch up with the demand (links crossbow training says they won't though...)
Taking a look at the latest console hardware figures, Wii is the current market leader with 456,000 units sold in Australia and New Zealand. Xbox 360 is slightly behind with 410,000 units and PS3 trails significantly at 285,000 units.

Thx. So I guess that's 450k Wii in Aus and 6k in NZ . I thought PS3 picked up the pace significantly? Maybe I'm just confusing things.Syb said:IGN.au have been kind enough to post the latest Australian/New Zealand hardware figures.
Phife Dawg said:Didn't expect MGS to go down that fast tbh. New releases beating it out was to be expected since both new ones are pretty big, but dropping below MK Wii is surprising.
What's the UVP anyways? 69,99? Because Amazon is selling it for 54,95, which I thought was pretty cheap for this game. Don't know if that was the price they started at though. If UVP was 69,99 and they started close to it then it's a good indicator that the actual demand did not meet the calculated one.Hammer24 said:Spielegrotte started to rip apart the MGS4 bundle, selling the game for 10 cheaper than the MSRP. Looks like the game was extremely frontloaded.

In regards to Spielegrotte it has to be mentioned that Marc does most of its business with 360 - PS3, Wii not so much. Maybe he just thought MGS4 would drive more potential PS3 owners to his shop.
Haters. A poor, poor speciesgbovo said:WTF! Why do you want the game out of the top 10
Thanks for the info. Imagine spending 70 on launch :lol .Hammer24 said:It started with 69,99, and stayed this for about ten days, then it was 59,99. The "unbundled" version goes for 49,99 now.
Probably. But Wii and PS3 seem to gain ground, if Marc´s charts are anything to go by.

Is it? I wouldn't have expected it for a game like MGS4. For instance I pre-ordered SSBB for 45 and I don't expect the price to go down any time soon.Hammer24 said:*shrugs* Well, isn´t it always the case with preorders / early adopting?
I'm pretty sure this isn't Konami's doing.spwolf said:welcome to real life.
I think Konami wants to milk the cow as soon as possible. Price drops 6 months later usually dont make any sense...
