Well at least the Vita hasn't fallen below 10k yet.

So, uh... that's something, I guess.

It's beating the Nintendo DS by more than 8000+ units. Sony has the market cornered!

I'm happy to see Rhythm Thief game doing well alongside Konami's RPG. They both opened up better than I anticipated.

Beyond the Labyrinth megabomba.

Rhythm Thief is okay-ish I guess, nothing spectacular...

Pretty boring week as expected, next week will be a bit more exciting at least.

Sold 3k less than last week, though...

BtL bombed =C

Rhythm Thief did so-so, maybe it will have legs.

3DS held good, as well as 3 kings.

But "this rate" won't keep up. It's more reasonable to expect a regression by asymptotic means than a linear one. Further, there are at least some games coming soon: Vita software will go from "non-existent" to "bad." Bad is not good, but it's better than nothing.

We'll see, of course. I do think we may see some weeks of Vita below 10k, I just don't think it's going to be consistent or immediate.

200k? From a 30k start? Would be bloody unlikely, unless it has epic legs. I'd be surprised if it cracked 100k.

Wii's done, I think it has maybe 500k more total in it. PS3's harder to gauge, but this is the first year it faces any credible HD competition and there aren't really any huge system sellers on the horizon (lolVersus). My guess/shot in the dark is down a bit yoy, maybe 25%.

Wat
Rhythm Thief may reach 60-70k, but more is unlikely.
Great for a new IP like this one, imo.

I have always thought Nintendo would try and launch Wii U in Japan ASAP and possibly sooner than the rest of the world. I just cannot fathom them allowing the Wii to go on like this for most of this year.

I don't really think it's great, but it's not awful either. I think for low budget new IP titles on portables, Japanese publishers tend to expect at least that, but would probably want the games to break 100k to be more viable as a longer lasting franchise.

How is there any relation at all? In fact, tri-Ace new IPs with other non-S-E publishers being successful would actually more likely lead to a lower probability of VP3, since it means tri-Ace can work on new things with new partners instead of crawling back to S-E to beg them to greenlight a sequel for a relatively successful existing franchise.

Wouldn't a Konami bomba mean they're more likely to go back to S-E? At least I hope they will :(

I still expect them to try and drop the price and push it as a budget system sometime this year, but I expected that in late 2010/2011 as well and NCL never obliged so...

Not to mention that it might be too late to generate any significant interest in the system...

Actually, according to the chart it sold 18,361 last week and only 15,219 this week so it dropped by 3142 units. Unless I'm reading that chart wrong which is likely.

Well, I just didn't see them as IPs that were going to break 100K the first week. What I am more concerned about is their legs. I would like to see them at least become slow burners that end up amassing significant numbers at the end.

The fact is that we have seen a huge amount of new IPs on DS and PSP selling very, very badly (to not say on Wii) so these numbers are not awful at all, also considering that 3DS doesn't still have one full year on the market. Moreover, we are not talking about high profile games or popular genre as you said: a dungeon crawler and a rhythm game. Ace Combat with those numbers bombed, but it's hard to say the same for tri-Ace jRPG, even though the opening is not so promising. Furthermore, we have easily seen new IP starting a franchise on handheld with low numbers as well, such as Luminous Arc.
Btw, let's see how far they'll go and which expectations those software houses have :)

But is Rhythm Thief really "low budget", with all those animation scenes?

Hopefully it'll have incredible legs like some other rhythm titles and break 100k eventually. It somehow reminds me of Space Channel.

Yes. Clearly, I lost track of last week's numbers.

Fail on my part.
