Huh, just realized we’ve been moved to the community section...

yeah, was bound to happen...

also Tricky i empathize with your frustration man, but for what its worth i think Boyes/co prolly did put in a call: at this point Suzuki's said several times it's on Sega.

I can totally accept and understand if he couldnt make things happen but I'm not gonna be ok with him using us for a PR win anyway by claiming we asked for things we didnt, that's what people are angry about

Why would he want to make you think he's considering it unless he actually is? You think he just likes getting bombarded with tweets from hundreds of Shenmue fans? The guy isn't a troll.

Or think how many less people he'd annoy (including himself) if he just said nothing at all (like Phil Spencer is doing now after his "Shenmue contingency" theory). People don't mention Shenmue to get good PR.

Lin Siniang if i was you id seriously reconsider your last two posts. While its fine to disagree with other peoples theories, calling them suckers, jokes or continuously laughing at them is rude, disrespectful and in my opinion should be reported to a mod.

Play nice and be respectable to others.

P.S, i dont think anyone took the forklift thing seriously. It was a bit of light humor.

So are you telling me that Shenmue fans AREN'T considered a joke by the gaming community at large? Because we totally are.

i don't think so, no - we're pretty vocal & keep the series relevant. id argue only the mother/earthbound fans have done a better job (and by quite a bit too). i don't really know how fanbases appear to others - are we "perceived" better than Sonic, Mega Man, etc etc? moreover: who cares? i like keeping people aware of the fantastic series, and even if guys like Boyes have to namedrop Shenmue to get attention, again i don't see how that's a negative.

even if shit never happens, i personally dig that every GDC/etc Suzuki is reminded of his fanbase. that guy deserves so very much more than he's got for how he shaped gaming, having grown up with his arcade sims/etc kinda feels like reminding him of how great his unfinished opus is, is about the least i can do. doesn't cost me a thing, either.

*edit hypetrains often fall off the rails, but people get on em anyway. laughing at what's supposed to be fellow gaffers/members of your fanbase does qualify you as something of a jerk though, man.

I think Shenmue being considered a joke in the long run matters solely because people only "leak" Shenmue information just to troll Shenmue fans. This creates a cycle of disappointment and inflated hype. Which frankly, isn't good for the community at all. Nor for the future of Shenmue. What publisher wants to be attached to an IP that is considered by many to be a total joke? To many publishers, Shenmue may as well be Blasto.

This post is a fair opinion from an individual. The last few were disrespectful.

I never realized that laughing at people, calling them suckers after they actually thought there was a chance for a series that hasn't had a new full fledged game since 2001, and saying our community is considered a joke because of that was a bannable offense. I didn't call you names at all. Please grow tougher skin.

Please read my original message once again.

To everyone else, please do not quote those messages from Lin Sinlang and respond. I say we move on to another subject. id rather not have this page flooded with the same rude comments over and over again.

HAHAHAHAHA

Fellow Mue fans. You utter suckers. HAHAHAHAHAHAH. I fucking told you guys not to do it. But you just HAD to do it.

HAHAAHAHAHAHA

You guys haven't realized that we are the JOKES of gaming, right? No one takes Shenmue seriously. You actually think they do? ahahahahaha. Did you listen to the questions asked to Yu during the Q/A panel at GDC? NO. ONE. CARES. ABOUT. SHENMUE. And you were so utterly fucking hyped from goddamn Adam Boyes troll tweets that you forgot that fact. Play Shenmue 1/2 in an emulator or your Dreamcast or even the crappy IIx, but PLEASSSSSSSSSSSE do not get your panties in a twist and get MASSIVE fucking blue balls because you guys continue to do fruitless campaign after campaign.

AHAHAHAHAHAHHA. What a joke.

Please leave the carriage, sir.

Sign me up for another hype train!

And as a massive Shenmue fan, I kind of agree Lin Siniang about us being jokes to the rest of the gaming community. I mean, even in our campaigns to promote Shenmue and put it at the top, how many of those are legit individual votes/users? Probably not a whole lot, I know Shenmue fans make multiple accounts and make multiple votes etc. So I'm sure industry figures doubt the validity of the demand because they know how passionate we are.

But people do laugh at us for hoping and wanting Shenmue. To 80% of the gaming community Shenmue is a financial disaster that will never, ever happen again, no matter how much we try and educate them on the fact that it wouldn't be nearly as expensive to remake/produce a new game.

And despite all of this, I don't care, I'm still going to rally behind Yu Suzuki and Shenmue, and hope for more Shenmue every damn time. I always wanted a new NiGHTS game, and it finally came (sure, it wasn't fantastic, but it was a new NiGHTS!).

Things happen. And it doesn't hurt to wait and hope...

Damn, I had a sprinkle of hope when he started showing those letters at the sony conference. Didn't expect Shenmue III going into this E3, but a hd collection would have been very nice.

While some may call fans delusional or insane for expecting a Shenmue announcement, I have to say, this year, fans were most certainly justified in their thinking.

Shenmue is currently at the top of #buildingthelist from Sony
Microsoft and Sony have both said Shenmue is the most requested game from fans.
A new Shenmue domain recently got trademarked
The rumored HD remakes that have been completed for years
The vast amount of coverage Shenmue has received in the media lately
etc

Sure, this could all be consequential, but I cant blame anyone for believing something might be in the pipeline.

I was one of the first to board the hype train and I don't regret it one bit. Its a bit of silly fun between the fans and the community.

At this point, im not really surprised or too disappointed when Shenmue isn't announced at these events, but i still engage in #SaveShenmue, Hypetrain, and other shenmue related areas as I love the game and its community. It's all for fun, and I like to contribute to anything that is Shenmue related in a positive way.

I'll still be on the hype train in the year 2090 when im an old man and approaching death's doorstep. :p

With that said, I posted this pictured earlier.

Engineers have been working around the clock.

And the hype train is back on track.

NEXT STOP TGS!!!!!

LET'S GOOOOO!!!!

I'd say that a new Shenmue would have a bigger chance of being announced during Gamescom than during the TGS. I think that there are way more Shenmue fans in Europe than in Japan.

1. Jet Set Radio HD and Space Channel Five HD did not sell well.
Source for this? I remember reading something about them quitting the whole Dreamcast ports thing they had in the pipe-line, but I don't think we had exact reasons.
I can see that for Space Channel 5 Part 2, but Jet Set Radio was released for every platform under the sun and was a PS+ game. It's hard to believe it sold that bad.

Shenmue 1+2 HD were not released along with Skies of Arcadia HD because:

1. Jet Set Radio HD and Space Channel Five HD did not sell well.

2. Shenmue 1+2 have a licensed engine. And it's not worth the cost if returns aren't guaranteed.

It's not going to happen unless some publisher or someone fronts the bill.

Good points. There's so much variables surrounding the Shenmue ip and its potential of coming back.

Curious to see where you obtained your data on Jet Set Radio?

Perfect night by my estimation, though you need some green tea in that.

Also, Matcha Pocky: where.
Agreed on the green tea, but if Coke (or "Jet Cola") is good enough for Ryo, it's good enough for me.

As for the Matcha Pocky, it's amazing. It's easy to find here in the LA area. Maybe harder to find somewhere in the that has less of an Asian population.
welp, my night just got less cool in comparison
There's still time to start up that Dreamcast and head to Dobuita...
