I seriously think that the Shenmue community need to merge with the TLG community. Neither game is happening. And the emotional investment for both are having me reevaluate my faith in humanity.

Let me just state this. If Shenmue 3 is confirmed with all bells and whistles (and hopefully Shenmue 1&2 HD as well), I'll buy another PS4 no questions asked.

Well, that's it. I think it's finally over. So much for #BuildingTheList (according to Adam Boyes, the biggest request from players was "more zombie games")...

That was such unbelievable bullshit. He fucking said it himself that yakuza 5 and shenmue were what were most demanded and he came out with this straight up lie.

Yeah, I felt a bit cheated by that part. I expected something from Yakuza and instead he blurted out shit about zombies! Yep, there sure aren't enough games featuring zombies right now.

Everyone here on Gaf knows for a fact we weren't asking for more zombie based games at all, so for him to name drop and include us in the "we want more zombie games" is crap.

a bit? I wasnt expecting shenmue 3, I was hoping for Yakuza 5 or Shenmue 1&2 HD but I'd have dealt with nothing at all, but coming on stage and straight up lying is just terrible

Im so annoyed that they said the most requested game was a zombie title. #buildingthelist meant nothing. Shenmue dominated that list.

Yeah, you're right I guess. The Grim Fandango remaster removed the sting a bit, because I adore that game and haven't been able to play it for years, but going through that segment without mentioning Yakuza or Shenmue just hurt. They cherry picked what would accommodate them most easily.

and to be honest, adam boyes, gio corsi, phil spencer, yoshida, et al are still going to get bombarded with messages about shenmue over the course of the year. they know we're out there, they know someone has to pull the trigger eventually.

You know what? I'm actually pretty upset and annoyed this time. For the last several E3's I would just accept that it wasn't shown and hope for the best next year, but for this year I really thought we had a shot at some sort of a revival. And I'm with everyone when they thought that it was going to happen when Adam Boyes was telling us all the games that have been requested to be made...my heart actually started to beat really fast since I thought it was finally the moment. But no! The most requested game is another zombie game! What the hell? You damn well know its Shenmue! Gah, I feel so fed-up right now. It’s not fair! :(

I for one asked for more first person shooters! We really need some more of those. It's a dying genre...

Anyway, yeah, that whole segment was utter bullshit.
We listen to what you want so here you have it, some run-of-the-mill shit that was already in development. Now let us just pretend everyone asked for this. Tada! You guys really love us and we love you too. /smooch.

I'm not actually too bitter about the lack of a Shenmue announcement, as I always saw it as being a long shot (despite not as long as every other year...). That #buildingthelist stuff was some BS though. It almost feels like they were hoping the top choices would be something cheap and easy to provide, and balked once they realised Shenmue was getting the most mentions. Even a Yakuza localisation would have been great though. Going with "you guys seem to like zombies" was an absolute piss-take. At least the lip service MS gives doesn't implicitly promise that they'll actually provide what you ask for.
