Hahaha awesome!

I agree with people saying that an online Amiibo mode would be awesome. I could be tempted to buy some Amiibo for that!

I fed my level 50 Marth Amiibo some equipment and now his counter (which he always lands) does 40% damage. I've created a monster.

My level 50 Link Amiibo is lord of long range arrow trick shots now too.

I dont understand. Are these things moving? Are they very shophisticated robots able to play video games? I thought they were only figurines...

no.

you actually need a human to hold a controller. Then you put the amiibo nearby, and he sends telepathical waves to control your brain/fingers and play.

kinda like Ratatouille, but you know... better.

if the human try to resist, the amiibo will break his fingers.

Amiibo have chips in them that communicate with WiiU when they're placed on a WiiU GamePad. What happens next depends on the game. In Smash Bros., they "come to life" in the game as a CPU-controlled character. You name this character, pick its color, customize its moves, modify its stats and abilities with equipment, and feed it gear to level it up faster. But the main way they level up is by fighting. They can fight with you, against you, against your friends, against each other, against other amiibo. And they learn from the people they fight. So if you taunt after getting a kill, they'll start taunting after a kill. If you chase a Smash Ball, they'll start to chase a Smash Ball. If you intercept someone offstage with a meteor smash, they'll start trying to do the same. Apparently, there have been lv. 50 amiibo who have four-stocked lv. 9 CPUs -- lv. 9 being the previous "highest difficulty." So amiibo are a fun way to create monstrous opponents or partners. They also find loot for you, like coins and trophies and custom gear. And they also look really cool on a shelf.

This is it. This is the future. Amiibo takeover. Toys will play our games for us. Complete global saturation by 2020.

Even unfed amiibo can apparently mop the floor with multiple lv. 9s, so yeah, I imagine they're great sparring partners. I haven't started training mine yet, though.

I borderline cannot even touch my dk amiibo anymore. I got him to level 50 and he was a very tough opponent. Then I fed him and he's all but unstoppable.

But then I just keep feeding him more. My friend has a Fox amiibo and there is no way Buttkong is losing to that jerk

This is actually terrifying

This is... really not impressive. It's not hard to get a CPU to be able to beat a human opponent, considering you can program them to have perfect reactions and no habits. Also levelled Amiibos do more damage.

How well does that learning part actually work?

I didn't really know about that, so I just had my amiibos level up by fighting each other while I watched tv or something.

Will my amiibos have a significant disadvantage?

Stuck in Bayonetta 2? Can't get shake that blue shell in MK8? Have your amiibo take over for you. AmiiPlay... Coming soon...TBD 2015

I think the learning stuff is BS. My D.K amiibo has started trying to get meteor smashes, chasing the smash ball, and trying to grab people and walk them to their deaths in walk-offs without learning it from anyone.

i like how a supposed tournament has poverty ass tv and seating. Class it up a bit, i know it's gaming but it looks like the set of an 80s porno

Pretty cool but looking at the bracket it seems that it only beat one person in a 10 player 'tournament' ?

I'll tell you this though. I leveled up my Samus amiibo mostly in the speed stat, and I swear that girl is wavedashing. It's really funny. She'll do a spot dodge while running and just slide into the opponent for a smash attack.

Personally I'm still skeptical about the learning claims. I know for sure the IGN claim about learning to taunt after a kill is BS because my amiibo did that on its own.

unsurprising considering that:

1) many people, myself included, have trouble beating their high level amiibos even once

2) amiibos receive stat bonuses, aka they play with handicap on

I wish we could turn off their stat advantages and juts play them skill vs. skill, because I really do think their combat prowess and AI is truly impressive, it's just hard to judge it only on its merits when they get stat boosts.

Do unfed amiibos still get stat boost as I've mostly used mine in 8 player smash and they don't seem to do any extra damage compared to myself, level 9 random ai, or my friends.

I don't know. I haven't fed ANY of my amiibos, and at level 40+ they still kick the shit out of me. They don't appear to do anything impossible speed-wise, but they may still have damage/defense boosts, not sure.

I wonder. I just erased my Samus' data and started her over from level 1. It's level 25 now, and I've been taunting after many (though not all) kills. Now it taunts, fairly regularly, though not every time.

My other Samus amiibo was leveled by fighting my Yoshi amiibo, starting from level 1 all the way to 50. She never, ever taunted after a kill. And she could barely beat a level 9 cpu at level 50, and even lost to one once.

Once I get the new one to 50, I'll test it against a level 9 and see how it compares.

Yes, they get damage boosts and I suspect knockback boosts.

For example, if I recall correctly, level 50 peach was doing about 16% with fresh side+B, compared to a human player doing 8-9% with fresh side+B. Up smashes are especially painful, maybe in the 30-40% range. You can still spar with them to train yourself not to get hit, in theory. :p

after learning that amiibos can learn to taunt after a KO... I kinda want to buy a Wario amiibo and train him to be an asshole.
