Titanfall beta on Xbox One will open up to everyone

Gonna guess it was because of the people selling codes to those wanting it so badly, and they checked to see if they could handle everyone who could download it through the dashboard afterwards. They were pretty adamant in the beginning about it being limited and not being open - good for them for changing their minds.

Just reading the thirst in the GAF thread alone for codes showed how much people wanted to play, I can't imagine how it was everywhere else.

I see your fiendish masterplan, Respawn. First, you send me an Xbone code, and I don't even own one, then you open up the beta to everyone.

I felt special, and now I don't. Oh well, I'll hop on the PC beta when it opens up!

Haha, i''ve been playing the game since the beta started, you don't need to show me a video of bad gameplay. It looks like its that guys first match because he doesn't really know how to play. The beta will be open soon. Seriously try it because it doesn't feel like COD at all.

Looks like they opened the beta to everyone on Xbox One as of now. Should be under the featured section on the home screen. It is also under new game demos in the game store section.

Good fun game. Badly needs some aussie servers though. Sucks being the only guy on the server with a 1 bar connection icon when everyone else has 3 bars.

What was the point of the entire codes then if was just gonna open it up on XboxOne?

They're testing at the end of the day. Opening up the whole thing in one go may have swamped the servers - especially if they are still tweaking.

They did have some problems early on for a few hours when limited keys had been released. The next day, things were looking good - and it appears further keys were released. I know this because my sons account received a key a whole day later. That was yesterday. Respawn and MS are obviously happy with the way things are performing currently. So why not open the whole thing up to see how it goes?

It gives them the chance to fix any major issues ahead of the full release.

Sensible thinking I think.

Its a beta. They let some folk in, servers broke they fixed them. Now they feel confident to let everyone with XB1 in. If that works they will let PC in.

Not sure why folks think this is about marketing.

Of course it is. Classic use of the scarcity principle.

Doing it this way will have raised hype and awareness much more than if they just made it an open beta from the getgo and there was minimal hullabaloo.

People were willing to go to lengths and pay for beta keys FFS. Just let that sink in for a while.

From a marketing perspective they've let this play out perfectly. And honestly, I think they only real reason they've opened it up to everyone now is because there were many people who had already pre-ordered, didn't get in the beta originally and felt hard-done-by to a point where some were threatening to boycott the game and cancel their pre-orders.

i've been straight gaping people. even though there is a server in asia and i get 50ms to it, i've been playing with 1 bar with friends in the states on a US node. if it's not competitive, who cares.

I don't agree.

Well... care to elaborate wise sir?

I said it in my original post, they are opening it up bit at a time as they feel more confident with XB1 getting priority as MS have the deal.

If it was about marketing they would have opened it up to everyone after they messed up with the codes to get some goodwill back.

Dammit my gold subscription just ended and I'm from a Tier 2 country. Can't be bothered to buy Gold for another region. Really wanted to try this out :(

I disagree with you. Respawn played their cards perfect from a marketing perspective.

Create noise for a Beta to get the media's attention. Deliberately stay vague about it so that everything you say will be picked up by the media. First make it a close beta to get the media's attention back when it has slowly drifted away. The entire beta key thing was hot stuff the last few days. Everyone wanted one, multiple sites/stores were giving them away. Resulting in those sites getting more clicks and for the stores(and Titanfall) to get more attention. And when the interest for the Titanfall beta starts to slowly dwindle as people lose hope, get angry, etc, they announce that they'll open-up the beta to get a "test" on their server. Resulting in the media's attention yet again. This way Titanfall is hot news with minimal effort from Respawn.

If Respawn wanted to test their servers they should have made it open from the start. The way they handled it, horribly from a consumer stand-point, just screams "marketing ploy".

All part of MS and EA's master plan to make you get a xbone;)

Well, Respawn just e-mailed me a PC key, realizing their mistake. That's nice and all but every time I try to redeem it, it says an error has occurred while trying to process my request. :/
I used the web page and the Origin client, still the same issue.

Over the next couple hours we'll be getting all the PC people who signed up access through the My Games Library in Origin.

Not long now, code-less friends.

Having said that, it JUST popped up in my games library upon refreshing. Happy fragging, ya'll!
