Paging someone familiar with Steam and different apps for the same game.

Thief shows me this message on the Steam store: Notice: Purchases made in Singapore are only playable in Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia.

I'm assuming that refers to this: http://steamdb.info/sub/37999/

I'm in Singapore. If I were to purchase Thief from GMG, for example, I assume it wouldn't give me this specific version for my region. Would I then be able to activate the game and play, or is it region locked in any way?

I'm afraid you have to use a VPN for that, and that is kinda risky. Better wait for someone to sell it cheap from our region (I'm from PH).

That flying boss dude in Strider is so frustrating.

I think I died once or twice on him learning his patterns, but even on hard, he wasn't that bad.

I think Mecha Pon was probably the most annoying for me, but that's because it zooms out so far and the hit detection on his body is weird. :\

So I broke down and picked up Plague Inc: Evolved on Early Access. I think one of only 3-4 games I've paid full price for in the last year.

The game is seriously cool. I really enjoyed the tablet version, but I find the mouse much easier to use than the touch screen for this type of game. While there isn't much innovation in this version over it's mobile counterpart, they obviously have a lot of things planned for the future.

I had about 2 hours to kill this evening and was able to get over 1/2 of the game's achievements that are currently unlockable in that time. I'll probably play it again this week and mop up the rest of them. Then when the game is closer to being finished, I'll play through again.

Yes, the price is kinda ridiculous for a game that is essentially free/cheap on mobile. But there is quite a bit of content here (and more on the way) to keep you occupied for a few hours, meaning the game passes my "better value than a movie ticket" test.
I never get this mentality. If the game was reasonably priced on IOS, it would never sell. Unless it's a port or the rare exception like Oceanhorn, a game for $10, $15 is just never going to be a success with the "I'll wait to it's free"/"$2 is too expensive" race to the bottom that's so prevalent on IOS and Android. So devs have to devalue their games, price them at a 1, 2, 3 dollars on mobile, to have any chance of sales

Is a game, a good game really worth that little? One that offers hours of content, took months and hours of hard work to develop? No, at least in my opinion. $15 is a fair price for Plague Inc: Evolved.

That's bad news. I'm assuming these sites are selling the ROW version of Thief (http://steamdb.info/sub/37997/) which doesn't seem to have any restrictions other than Japan though, as opposed to something like Castlevania Lords Of Shadow 2 which is completely unavailable to us. I'm not even interested in the game but I hope someone can shed some light on this.

Since I already own the standard version of Assassin's Creed Brotherhood I can't buy the Deluxe version for myself, just as a gift, does anyone knows if I can't activate/add the game to my library thus upgrading my standard version to deluxe?

Pretty annoyed that I can't get an Amalur code from Amazon because I live in australia, not the US. That doesn't make any sense. :/

When I was a kid I didn't know they had N64 versions but I played the first one on PC. I only had a PC at the time. I wasn't keeping up on console games so if my friends didn't have it, I didn't know about it.

I remember being disappointed. It didn't stack up that well against its peers on the PC. I still played quite a bit because I liked dinosaurs.

Digging a bit deeper, I've found the same notice on the Hitman Absolution store page, but I bought the game from Amazon US digitally a while back and it works perfectly fine. I'm beginning to think there shouldn't be an issue with getting Thief from stores like GMG.

gave away the keys to the kingdom.
Hell no, the setting is the best (and perhaps only excellent) part of that game. The cities are perhaps a bit too spread out for traditional AC-style movement, but that's the fault of the game design failing to properly evolve how the character moves, not the fault of the time period.

Assassin's Creed would be really lame - and would probably run out of settings pretty fast - if they limited themselves to periods where buildings were built tall and close together.

To each his own, I suppose. I hope the first true next-gen AssCreed sees a return to sprawling cities -- ideally a game with the locale variety of 2 but with at least one city comparable in scope to that of Brotherhood's Rome.

Huh? Could you elaborate on that please? I have Thief being pre-load installed to what It hink is my C drive, but my F drive is for Steam games.

- Install Link Shell Extension
- Cut/paste your depotcache folder to your desired drive
- Right-click on it and select "Pick link source"
- Navigate back to the root of your Steam folder, right-click somewhere, hover over "Drop link as" and select "Symbolic link"

A "Can I pre-load to a different drive?" section in the OP wouldn't go astray, even if people don't read it. ;)

JaseC, can I use VPN to unlock Theif now? I saw somewhere you said that it's unlocking in Asia soon.

A little under 9 hours to go.

Oh snap! Is this for real? I'm a backer and didn't know this. I backed it by donating 80 bucks back when they were still allowing donations.

It's totes fo' real.

It'd redeem just fine.

Protip: use option-c to hit him. It hits like a ton of bricks.

Other than that, learn the pattern so you know when/how to dodge, and use charged attacks when he's floating up high before he does the specials... the first one you just duck in the middle underneath him, the second one keep moving and watch your feed and the third one, if you're not feeling confident on dodging and hitting him some, move over and climb on the edge of the platfrofm. If you see him prepping the large cannon beam, drop off the side of the platform too... and just apply option-c liberally as much as possible.

I have them installed right now. The games are piss easy with the M/KB, enemies have no chance at even hitting you if you've played Quake before. Other than that they run well in 1080p and play really nice.

I finally managed to get to Olmec in Spelunky, I feel so accomplished. I even managed to survive a whole 30 seconds.

I even brought a Mine Key with me to open the shortcut. Why I don't exactly know, I've never used one of them.

It is, and if I remember correctly, it got the Project CARS devs into a bit of hot water with the Financial Conduct Authority and forced them to end accepting new backers: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-04-18-driving-ambition-pcars-crowdfunding-and-the-fsa

Thanks for The Swapper Dambrosi! Let's see how well I do with those puzzles.

I'm still going to get Banished. Plus I'm near the end of Brotherhood and still deciding whether I want to continue to Revelations, which I have, or skip it straight to AC3. By that time, it's already Summer Sale.

Uhh, you gotta do Revelations. It's only the conclusion to the two best characters in the series.

Revelations is pretty good if you like AC. After you clock Revelations watch Assassins Creed: Embers which shows Ezios conclusion.

Seraphis Cain

bad gameplay lol
The FlatOut games are still on sale for a little while longer. Picked up FlatOut 2 for $2.49 with card money. Really fun and I can run it at max settings even on my weak PC. Only real complaint is that you can't navigate the menus with the controller. Well, that and the shitty mid-00's alt rock soundtrack, but eh. Pretty great game.

EDIT: Also, the default gamepad controls are garbage. Accelerate is set to forward on the analog stick. Who the hell could possibly play a racing game like that. So yeah, be sure to change them before you play.

Oh my god that final boss fight with Sadiq in SC: Blacklist, FUCK THAT SHIT!

Too hard?

As a way to end the game I thought it was alright. It was basically a version of the
Deadshot
side mission in Arkham City with an absurdly neutered difficulty.

Traded Assassin's Creed 1,2 Deluxe, Brotherhood Deluxe and Revelations Gold for 9 keys I paid for by cards.
Feels... quite nice.
