I'm still looking for the one where Hart lasciviously licks his lips while on the phone with Beth.

McConnaughy pretty much all of EP 6. And Woody. just so... Acty. I get its based off theatre but its bugging me. And the FHUTA moment with woody and another impossibly cute young girl was just gratuitous and corny. Shame, the story's kind of interesting. I hope it's not all just building to MM being the Yellow King or some shit.

I HAVENT BEEN FUCKED LIKE THAT SINCE BEFORE THE GIRLS

And by "before the girls", she means fucking a dude who pops off after 30 seconds. Marty's big ass dick goes for hours.

10+ years of anticipation will do that to a man.

- Lengthy interview with The Daily Beast: True Detective Director Cary Fukunaga’s Journey from Pro Snowboarder to Hollywood’s Most Wanted
So how long did it take for you to shoot True Detective?

It took 101 days. We shot from January 2013 until the end of June 2013. It took for-fucking-ever it felt like, and there was no respite. It was about 12.5 days an episode.

What were the biggest hurdles for you, as a director?

Finding the look, finding the rhythm, and creating your language with the crew. We were shooting in very difficult locations and weather was not our friend. And it was also tough to find our endurance because there was no relief crew—it was only us—and there weren’t any hiatus days to prep the next episode. So, we could only prep the first four episodes, and for the final four episodes, the scripts weren’t even done yet. We didn’t have the scripts for the last two episodes until a couple of weeks before we started shooting, so we didn’t know where we were shooting or where to go to locations to talk about shots, so for the latter half, we just reacted and hoped that our instincts were on point.

The tracking shot in Episode 4 was a key moment in the series. It seemed to be the moment where even many of the show’s detractors were converted.

I just knew that I wanted it to be a oner because of the tension in that scene, but I was surprised when people started responding to it because they referenced the ending of Children of Men, and I thought that was way more epic. Alfonso Cuaron is the master of oners. I didn’t think it would be as hard to do as it turned out. I wasn’t even happy with it, but eventually we just had to drop the pencils and go on to the next stuff. It was really exhausting—to Matthew, the operators, everyone. On one of the last takes when we threw the brick through the glass window, a piece of glass hit Matthew in the eye, so we just said, “Let’s just stop now and hopefully one of these other takes will work.” We did 13 takes, and of the 13, eight were aborted because you just have to stop it if something doesn’t work. The first three takes I stopped quickly, and the fourth take went, and everyone was so happy—just cheering by the monitors. But I still thought we didn’t get it yet. In my mind, we never got the perfect one.
Are you coming back to direct the second season of True Detective?

Nope, but I’ll be executive producing. We haven’t begun casting yet! Too chaotic right now.
Much more via the link.

So Season 2 looks most likely to be Fall of 2015?

Sidebar: They did a nice job with the tackle. That must have hurt.
It looks really good and is well done, but watching it in an isolated gif, you are wrong about the hurting part. At most, some pelvis soreness for the bottom guy if they had to do a lot of takes.

"Marty" deliberately rolls sideways in the air, even throwing the right foot all the way over so that a lot of his weight isn't landing on "Rust". At the same time, the foot swing creates the illusion of the trajectory being much higher, whereas it's actually pretty low, which again means less downwards force projected by the top guy. Finally, there's the centered, tight chest to chest hold, which looks slightly unnatural to me but ensures the top guy's weight is spread to a large area instead of going through one shoulder.

Say the show goes 6 or 7 seasons or whatever, it would be kinda neat to bring back Rust and Cohle (provided they both survive) in some capacity in the final one.

Flat circle, etc.

This.

I wonder what the tone will be like for the next season. I really like the dark and weird aspects of this show. Hope they maintain that to some degree. Also don't want to overdo it as well.

For next season they should get Lucy Lawless and Casey Affleck.

Or Ben Affleck and Matt Damon being boston cops. I've put much thought into this not just because good will hunting was on tv.

Season Two: Turd 1 and Turd 2 - "omg lol cancel this shit already"

Season Three to Infinity: Rust and Marty - "Time is a flat circle"

I can't think of who I want in season 2 because when I think True Detective, I think of Matthew and Woody. I can't even comprehend a True Detective without these two. D:

I mean....yeah....I just can't grasp such a concept. So strange. :lol

This does allow them to surprise us and go down alternate routes but I love the eerie and messed up nature of this season but know full well repeating this kind of thing just wouldn't be right.

Man, such a kerfuffle. Equal measure of excitement and hesitance.
