Titanfall: Official Launch Trailer

A trailer full of gameplay footage. It's sad how shocked I am.

So many trailers are full of cinematics. This game's gameplay is good enough that it can have a top class trailer using just gameplay.

This is completely besides his point. If they bothered 'confirming things' by now, the argument would just then be to wait until it's actually in people's hands.
Maybe for his latest point, but for a long time before the leaks people had no clue what the final game would be like and how much you will get for your money.

I can understand trying to hold back stuff about a singleplayer game like Mass Effect 3 where you could reveal too much and the great twist and the revelations are so omg-amazing but a multiplayer-only game should be more transparent. What's there to spoil?

It's quite difficult to have cinematic trailer for a game with no story.

Way to take someone's quotes out of context.

You can say what you like about me, I really don't care but here's the truth:

1) I enjoyed the beta but am worried by the lack of official info about what's on the disc
2) I'm completely honest in everything I write, if I do review Titanfall it'll be a completely unbiased review, I've no reason to hate any game despite what fanboys think
3) I've think the fact that I 'm a journalist who works for a retailer and am expressing my fears proves how honest I am, I'm sure my boss would rather I praise every game but that is not me
4) anyone who follows me on twitter knows I like to joke around a lot, so I make the odd comment in the heat of the moment, so what? Who doesn't, I'm pretty sure I could go through gaf and burn everyone.

I'm happy that I'm 100 percent honest, I've no fears as to my integrity, anyone who asks me to review a game or give my opinion on one will get nothing but the truth. You may not like my opinion but that's not gonna stop me from giving it.

thanks your opinion is noted, now please GTFO

There's a lot of story/background to this game, it's just not your traditional SP campaign.

Having played the beta, there seems to be some sort of company involved or something. I can't remember, it wasn't particularly memorable.

The problem is that the story will be far more meta than it should be, it's unlikely that it ever be conveyed in gameplay.

Dude, it's the NeoGAF official thread based around leaked information.

That it's all leaks and not actually official in the way regular people understand the word official was just confirmed on the GameSpot livestream with Vince Zampella. They did not want this information out there that make up the official thread on NeoGAF.

You guys seem to have it out for wotta for some reason.

Because they don't want me to be right that's why.

I love gaming just as much or maybe more than anyone here, I live it my working day and when I'm finished work too. But I wouldn't be doing my job properly if I didn't have my doubts.

There is a campaign, with cutscenes and everything. It's not a traditional campaign but it's still there.

Well, their marketing is doing a pretty piss-poor job of conveying that. From the trailers I've seen it's mostly just parkour, jetpacks, giant robots, company, parkour, giant robots. Also, let's be serious here, people are gonna play the game for the spectacle of double jumping from a wallrun, landing on an enemy's Titan and destroying it, not for whatever story they have laid out for it.

Yes it does have a story, it just doesn´t have a single player mode.

I AM CASTOR TROY

Titanfall will take the face of gaming off and replace it with Nicholas Cage's.

wotta has been in just about every thread attempting to de-hype the game at every possible pass. Before and after beta. I think he has a point with the little that has officially been revealed, but you can go down that list of posts and see the same general theme "This game is too hyped. Why is everyone so hyped for this? I know you've played it but it's not worth the hype and I'm here to tell you that". I don't know what it is about this game in particular, but for some reason people want to be the hype police for it, and have literally made it a mission of theirs (yes, a different poster with the same MO has admitted as much) to make sure everyone's excitement for the game is brought back down to their level. Using the words of other game media writers (without quotes of course) to back up their point and show that everyone has deemed Titanfall as the "second coming" or "a game changer" even though the majority of games media writers I've listened to or read and the impressions from people who played the beta have mostly been calling it "fun and "fresh". It's tiring and most of all it makes for useless discussion. Let people get over-hyped or under-hyped or appropriately hyped whatever that means. No one can be told what level of hype they should be at for any game. Especially one you've had a chance to play a bunch of.

Hype is such a dumb thing anyways, better to be reasonable human being going into a game release than a raving lunatic. Saves yourself from disappointment and allows for pleasant surprises.

Very good launch trailer; love the movements of all characters involved and some of the new maps look rad as hell to dash through

#1: We have had the value debate already and some good arguments were brought up.
#2: You have been totally obnoxious about the issue in multiple threads.

C'mon dude. C'MON.

I felt like watching a murder with blood stains flying on to my face while reading this post

Most of us played the beta, so we've seen Titanfall. Whatever you call it, hype, excitement...etc, it's warranted.

Every other video of Titanfall I've seen, I've been completely uninterested in the game.

Until now.

THAT looked fucking amazing.

Killer app.

Hey, I played it too and it was fun, but on a pure content level we don't officially know (as far as I've read that is ) anything outside of the 2 maps we were allowed to play.

All I'm saying is it would really suck if 3-4 of those leaked maps were DLC, so I'm keeping my expectations in check.

That’s 5.5 (soon to be 6 million) lost #Titanfall sales then.

He might be slightly"miffed" that he cannot get it on the PS4....

I'm just hoping it doesnt run like ass on my old PC, I did not get a beta invite to try it out first ; (

I think it's fair game to laugh at some of the games media and their hyperbole, but yeah it's independent of the quality of Titanfall.

I think hyperbolic statements like “most important game in years” about a FPS where you shoot dudes are laughable but my first ever thread on NeoGAF a few years ago was about hyperbole in games media, so I probably care more about that than others.

But you're right. Trying to downplay what other people have played themselves is weird. I think before the leaks the concern about the amount of content in the game were totally warranted. After the leaks not so much.

The invite-only beta turned into an open-beta.

All of which are leaks are they not? How much of that is official info? When have EA and Respawn came out and told us what content you get for £50/$50? I'm just sick of hyping games only for disappointment to follow. Next week will have the real answers and I honestly can't wait for this game to arrive so that the hype can dissipate and we can find out for sure what Titanfall has to offer us.
Maybe at Shopto it costs that much, but Amazon have it for £42 or you can get it DD for £37 off the US marketplace.

This word gets thrown at TitanFall way too much man. Pretty much every game i've seen there have been hyperbolic statements, whether negative or positive from the media. Yet apparently TitanFall is treated as unique in this now and those statements get cherry picked to try and show some media conspiracy. I'll just do what I do with every AAA release and ignore the writers who go overboard and listen to their more intelligent, rational peers.

I have a question: You said you didn't like the game when you played the beta, you were even very specific with your reasons as to why. Then said you enjoyed yourself. What is taken out of context on that front?

Why must it be hyperbole? Why can't it be legit praise?
After playing both the alpha and the beta I can absolutely agree with a lot of what has been said. The game is bloody fun in my opinion. And apparently a lot of others here agrees with me.

And personally I would say that referring to Titanfall as just "a FPS where you shoot dudes" is very close to downplay it. You are at least oversimplifying it.

How many games come out where the dev/publishers tell you everything that is on the disc? Questioning the "value" of this as a $60 dollar game because it doesnt have a single player campaign is ridiculous.

Looks like 360 game - May have to buy it there. Maybe PC. Definitely not paying $550 for it (needs Live)

on a more important topic...Direct2play is the real deal? I see the game for $45 but have never used them

Be right about what? The reason your posts irk people is how contradictory they are.

When you make a statement like this:

Totally agree with this. I'm also worried that there may be a lack of content considering no-one has even bothered to mention this.

Seems to me if it's just 6 vs 6 over 5 or so maps it'll get boring quickly. Why are EA/Respawn so slow to reveal more about the game?

That sounds fair. Contextually, this was pre-leaks so we really didn't know anything.

But then...
To me the OP is saying, I'm happy to pay £50/$50 for 14 maps and no single player, I'll also happily pay for extra DLC.

Sounds like not a lot of content to be for $50/£50 personally. Considering the amount of game modes/content you get in rival games.

this is regarding us finding out the mapcounts(which is 15). Before, 6v6 'over 5 maps' was your worry, finding out the game has triple the amount still isn't worth it. Value is subjective person to person and all, but on record it's wishy washy and makes it seem like as long as Titanfall has no SP then no matter how content packed it is, it wouldn't be enough.

Especially coupled with:

wotta said:
Looks boring and like any other shooter to me, except it has mechs. Woo big deal, no single player campaign = no thanks.

THEN this

I think people are getting far too hyped for this game. There is going to be a lot of disappointment on launch day. It's not THAT good. Sure it's great fun, but it's hardly a game changer. Think people need to calm down a bit.
People don't have get carried away. Looks phenomenal, amazing etc etc. It 'looks' average. Although the gameplay looks great fun.

"boring like any other shooter", "great fun".

Then it's coupled with a whole bunch of phrasing related to people needing to calm down, don't get carried away, etc. that TheOddOne shows a lot of. Basically, if you really are being 100% honest and truthful it doesn't come off like it whatsoever. Back and forth statements of polar opposite opinions make it hard to engage someone seriously. I totally get not liking how little we know officially, but it's not like they're sweeping the game under the rug to fool people into buying it while they twirl their mustache. It's not some massive conspiracy, man. Interested parties have had a chance to go on hands with the game for significant amounts of time to make up their own minds.
