Now read the OP. Make sure gifs are enabled in your browser.

Oh that gif looks nothing like the reveal trailer. That's for sure. My whole point was based on the new trailer today the game doesn't look horrific or anything, especially being a cross-gen game.

That one bad looking scene the gif is from could have resulted from any number of things. We'll see how the final release looks.

Seriously? It's pretty damn noticeable in these:

Did you mean to quote my post? I was saying I'm surprised and have no idea how it looks worse a year after last year's E3 showing.

the lighting is the thing that has taken a significant hit. Looks like last gen lighting. Very disappointing.

What I see...

- different car
- different time of day
- different camera behavior/angle
- heli vs no heli
- wet vs dry road
- new effect of "blinking" bridge when it is hacked

Someone more technical should point out what they really see as a "downgrade", so I can understand.

Has no one commented on the lightning yet because those flashes of light are fucking hilarious......I can't believe how utter shit this game looks.....I hope this is all a joke and we are looking at last gen footage.

Yeah. I think Ubi just caught off guard when they got final PS4/Xbox One specs and realized they'll need to downgrade the hell out of the game.
But the Division was debuted at the same E3 we saw games running on PS4 hardware. It would be something of an excuse for WD, but not the Division.

Why is anyone surprised?

The devs clearly created a demo based on potential specs and what they thought they could accomplish. This is why they should never show games 2 years out. He'll they shouldn't show games more than 6 months out

I'm not so upset about the lighting as I am the complete lack of atmospherics. Distant things look terrible. Crystal clear and rendered seemingly just the same as things up close (aside from the fighting bits where there is heavy FOV on the environment, which looks fine imho).

fog, dust, all that stuff. just gone. I'm looking at a screenshot of Alan Wake on my desktop that has some nice environmental effects for crying out loud. Subtle fogging as things become more distant. That's exactly what Watchdogs seems to be missing in this video and it makes it look terrible in comparison to the early footage.

PC is the lead platform, E3 2012 was PC footage.

What did you expect?

As long as it still looks like that on PC then it's not really deceiving.

That's horrible.

What's the ETA on people not believing the hype trailers anymore?

We need this shit to stop, it's ridiculous, Aliens was an alarming case already, but the bullshots are getting really out of hand.

----

Now I see what's the point of the delay: it would've been one of the biggest disappointments of the new generation, one talked about years in the future (kinda like the first AssCreed). I think Ubi figuratively shat their pants when they saw GTAV, they knew they couldn't live up to the hype so they delayed the game. But now the hype is dead and the game looks comparatively worse than before... so I doubt it did them any good.

Not every trailer, screenshot released is to this degree of bull. These are exceptions to the rule, despite how many on here are making it out to be otherwise.

And I doubt "Oh no, Rockstar!" was the case. Probably was in an even shittier place than what we have here. Maybe not visually, but in other aspects.

The PS4 is pretty much the optimum you can get if you target a $399 price tag. You really should stop commenting on technical things. Really. No one benefits from your comments on technical things. PS4 sold 6 million units in less than 5 months and the $399 price tag is a key factor for this success. Step out of your dream world. This "every-gamer-has-a-high-end-PC" attitude needs to stop.

If you have a serviceable PC, you can make it run these games much better than the consoles will, for <£150 (entry/mid-range GPU).

People need to stop getting tricked by vertical slice gameplay showings. They are basically the same as early "in-engine" trailers. They are showing what the game could look like or what is possible, not necessarily what the game will actually look like.

Look on the minimap, there's a helicopter following him in both versions. The spotlight effect seems to be missing in the new version

The lighting is horrible looks like a huge ass flashlight shining down. Also no reflection on the road. No rain, also the atmosphere is just gone it now looks very stale. No wonder my hype was all ready dead since they announced another delay. If people can't see the difference you need your eyes checked this is a huge downgrade.

My fondest memory game will probably waiting in line for 2 hours at new ypu comic con for a gameplay demo, shoved into a dark room full of BO, only to sit down amd watch the gameplay trailer I had seen on youtube that morning and told to pre-order to get they're stupid t-shirt. I then turned around and told everyone in line how much bullshit it was.

Long story short, fuck this game and fuck ubisoft.

red steel anyone? http://revolutionmedia.ign.com/revo...40/e3-red-steel-screens-20060501034051480.jpg

idk why anyone ever thought it was going to be different with watchdogs
the demo they showed at e3 was running on a high end pc and is their typical overpolished misleading tech demo that they always do for new games

the division will be the same and if you think it will look even close to this
then you're crazy

every single game that's looked distinctly next gen during that E3 (and was therefore hyped) has been heavily downgraded or cancelled

Bullshots have existed forever as has E3 focused demos that don't represent the final product. There has never been enough integrity in the gaming industry to just be honest and there are plenty of us who knew this was coming.

We all will know the final effect once it is actually released.

It's like people don't remember games like Saints Row early last gen.

Did people watch the videos or just look at that gif? For a sandbox game I think it looks fine.

Oh hey, Ubisoft is doing that thing that Ubisoft always does. It was obvious the E3 trailer wasn't real, it isn't a "downgrade" because the game more than likely never looked like that.

i thought exactly what youre afraid of when i first saw it. it didnt seem terribly exciting. i dont know.
not overly interested in the game but if it turns out somewhat decent i may give it a shot.

visuals still look nice. standards have been inflated beyond reason lately i think.

I think the visuals are good, too, but this is not why people are angry or dissapointed. Ubisoft clearly bullshitted everyone with footage that looked much better and actually very impressive, while this one only looks "good" or "good enough".

It's the deliberate LYING about the games's "suppoesed" graphics that got people mad, which unfortunately isn't exclusive to Ubisoft, since there have been many instances of other publishers doing the exact same thing.

And now that it's obvious they've been lying about the graphics, it's really not that far fetched to believe they've also lied about the gameplay.

Of course it's not going to look that good. But it's not going to get nearly the downgrade that Watch Dogs received.

Ubisoft loves their bullshots.

As someone pointed out, the glowing actually seems to be a "Hack me" indicator.
