Is there anything stopping the Playstation juggernaut? Fair play to them though this is a position 20 years in the making!

PS4 is also in stock at best buy online, and is in stock at most stores in the LA area. I think we're finally reaching levels where it can be found regularly. Will be interesting to see this month's NPD with infamous coming out and titanfall to battle against.

Any word of stock in Western European countries? I know some places were saying you're waiting until April no matter what.

It's going to be tough to hit 7M by end of month. 6.5M no question I think.

Not on sale until tomorrow, thats my only issue with the PS4. The outer sleeve tears really easily.

Which compared to the Xbones overall faults, it's not a bad thing. ;)

Ah I thoguht you meant you were nabbing it lol.

My Killzone box tore too. Though mine was when a cat jumped onto the empty but closed box which was standing up lol.

I guess people are okay with 2-hour demos after all.

Aside; really interesting PS4 #s, but I'm curious why online sales tend to favor PS4. B/c as last NPD showed they don't quite paint the full story and it's still possible (though improbable) XBO outsells PS4 in March.

My theory is that the PS4 is alot eaiser to store in warehouses due to size. In B&M shops, they just keep them in the back, not bothering to use them as a display. The Xbox one is much eaiser to display in storefronts so it gets a a bigger display at the front of house.

Because of this online outlets sell out faster (because b&m get more impulse buyers that are swayed by the xbox on display) so they get more stock.

Wow so for the first time ever not only does every Gamestop near me have PS4s in stock they are finally allowing you to reserve one online so you can pick it up in store.

Must have gotten a ton, probably from New Zealand.

Most likely Japan LBS.

Looks like a new shipment just hit the US. All major retailers are showing in stock. Get em while they;re hot, kids.

Looks like Best Buy and Amazon have the standard SKU available

Cheapest online Walmart has is this

http://www.walmart.com/ip/PS4-Console-Solution-Bundle-with-Choice-Game-and-Extra-Controller/33736114

For $517

Gamestop has this

http://www.gamestop.com/ps4/consoles/playstation-4-infamous-second-son-bundle/114063

For $477

Wonder when the online bundles will stop?

Stores near me seem to have stock again which is good

One last push for NPD supremacy in March. I doubt they can hit 7M by end of March though.

Oh, I think they will. They're selling as much as they can make and making 1.2ish million per month. I expect them to take March NPD too, TF bundles be damned. Sony seem in it to win it this time, real jugular-ripping tactics.

Like others said, it will be close. For that 1.2M number, it's really aquestion of how well they stock the right countries and retailers to meet demand and not have units sitting around.

My year end prediction is 12M low-end LTD, 15M high-end. Assuming 7M by march, 0.5M every month until November and 1M in November and December gets you 12.5M LTD. I think that's somewhat conservative. With adequate supply, I think they could hit 1.5M to 2M in a holiday month. Then we can start talking modest price drops/bundles in 2015.

PS4 is sold out on Amazon Spain too. I'm noting this because it's been available all year, so it's weird seeing it selling out now.

I guess Ground Zeroes and Infamous are doing well.

That's interesting. Is Spain a good territory for those series? Spain is also struggling with high unemployment still too, right?

So it took until March to outperform the WiiU. That's longer than I would have thought :)

No way XBone outperformed the WiiU already though (worldwide), I am not even sure it will this year. Depends on the success of MK8 I guess.

Spain is a very very strong Playstation region. Spain and Portugal might in fact be the most favorable countries in the world to the Playstation brand from what I've seen

MGS, yeah. Infamous less so, but SCE games usually do pretty well here.

And yes, our economy is still hurting so I wasn't surprised when PS4 wasn't selling out this year.

Spanish VG market crashed really hard in the past few years (there's a recent thread with some figures).

Nonetheless the PS4 sold 180k by the end of January, which is rather good compared to other countries.

I'd say that your 12.5m is never going to happen. It's selling too much to drop to such low levels between now and November and with stock will probably do 300k in the US alone every month between now and then. I'll say 14.5m by Dec 31st 2014.

It's certainly getting better in the states. Stores have them in stock longer but still are selling out. My district had all in stock last weekend. Down to about half in stock right now.

I'm being bearish because there's not a lot of titles to drive demand and when the Wii was in its heyday selling 2M+ a month, it was only $250 (aside from all the other crazy factors surrounding it). I hope E3 changes my mind about the outlook for first party titles. Even if we assume they sell every one of the 1.2M they make until the end of the year, with 7M at end of March, you're just shy of 18M on the year. I think the predictions I've seen of 20M are pie-in-the-sky optimistic.

The problem facing the PS4 this year will be the summer months.

What new games are there to drive sales for those 3 months or so?
