Curious what that best game ever written was

Everyone will give a different answer.
Mine is THE HOUSE OF THE DEAD, Saturn porting: great dialogues and fiction, awesome animations, best aliasing I have ever seen. Love the low-def textures too.

A BBT thread on gaf and tons of whining? Shocking.

Its not a laugh track its people laughing. I guess Seinfeld sucked for you as well?

There's a reason why I put laugh track in quotes. I know it's a live audience. I can handle the laughter in Friends, Seinfeld and a lot of older shows. But this show, (and most other recent sitcoms with audiences/laugh track) the laughter just comes in far too often for my tastes. Gets annoying.

And btw, the older shows, it's not about nostalgia or anything. Many of them, I only saw for the first time recently, people just weren't laughing at EVERY single little thing each character said in those shows (and it was still pretty frequent in Friends compared to the others). Friends' frequency was pretty much the limit for me.

Spaced > IT Crowd > Community > Big Bang Theory.

Anyway, I suppose they should get points for at least getting the internet whining right. Although not choosing a console feels like such a copout ending, lest CBS offend any company.

In fact, this ended up being a lamer version of the South Park console wars trilogy.

It's rude to put Big Bang Theory's name next to those others.

I'm pretty sure the BBT producers engineer a gas leak whenever they're filming to get those laughs. I heard that on the internet.

My mom loves it, she's old

My neighbour keeps sending me clips that he loves, and it always makes me feel like an ass when I don't even laugh once. I did laugh at one episode where Sheldon makes a robot to go to work for him, but that was it.

Di-did you just use The Big Bang Theory and hilarious in the same sentence?
Get out.

He can find it hilarious if he wants to, that's his prerogative. Lots of people find the 3 stooges hilarious. Personally, I find it mind-numbingly idiotic and can't watch it. But do I belittle them? No.

OT: Just your typical cash-in on the latest pop culture topic du jour, although they're about 5 months too late. Should've aired an episode like this last fall sometime.

That's awkward. Do you just do that, Ha, Ha, yeah, that one part, oh yeah, no, yeah, omg so funny?

I just tell him straight up that, nope, didn't find that one funny either. Maybe that's not the best approach, but we do share plenty of things that we laugh about. Still, I wish I saw the magic.

Apparently they had a Wii joke, but did they ever acknowledge the existence of Wii U? Because that would be the funniest thing if they didn't.

Well it doesn't make sense to just watch random clips from a show you aren't keeping up with. I've never in my entire life laughed at a clip from a sitcom I don't keep up with. I'm dead serious. I need context for humor, which clips typically don't offer.

Aww, you're a good dude. I should probably learn something from this:

Magic is Awesome

They didn't mention the Wii U, however there are Wii Us in a shot behind Amy and Sheldon when Sheldon is trying to buy a PS4/ONE.

I wonder how the show approached Sony and MS over payment to use the names of the consoles and the boxes, because Sheldon mentions both PS4 and XBO by name a dozen or so times, but then the boxes have price stickers conveniently placed over the name of the system...

I wonder why that is....

I'm still trying to wrap my head around people having issues with a silly TV show. If it's so bad just don't watch it.
You presume anyone in this thread has tried to watch the show without a chip on their shoulder about it. It's an easy target because we all know the memes and how "funny" those are in and of themselves.

If neogaf were the arbiters of popular culture outside of video games we'd all be damned to horrible video game web shows and the very dreary and tired IT crowd.

Nothing to do with memes. Nothing to do with nerd humor.

Everything to do with the writing, acting, and studio audience.

You would think someone with 2 PHDs has enough money to buy both consoles right? Unless his student loans are just downright unforgiving

Ironic that a video game forum, of all places, is talking about how bad a show Big Bang is, when the most poorly written episode of Big Bang ever made is a trillion times better than the best written video game ever made.

I bet that sounded a lot better in your head eh.

I question Sheldons research skills since it appeared his research had him leaning towards the XBone. That would show a serious lack of competent research if one chose that over a PS4.

No?

What games have you played if you hold Big Bang Theory in higher esteem than video game writing? The show is godawful garbage. Not to mention there are some really talented writers in the video game industry that have produced some great work. The writing in Portal 2 alone is an example of that excellence.

I like BBT mostly because it's a WHAT IF sitcom.
WHAT IF one of the biggest geniuses around was a boy from Texas, kind of weird guy, raised by a strongly religious mother?
There's almost NOTHING in BBT related to my/our real-life situations. I have nothing in common with any of the characters of the show or the depicted fauna even if I share with them some of the life's pleasures.
The only funny similarity is that comic-book stores rarely see a cute girl in my city too :)
But that's just it.
I like the show because it's so evident that it doesn't take itself and our lives seriously, and so do I, and I enjoy it this way.

Read the description. Don't even care if this is "typical GAF whining" - the show is garbage. The jokes aren't funny, the characters are unlikeable, and the laugh track is annoying. Emphasis placed on "the jokes aren't funny", which is kind of important for a sitcom.

I don't find it hard to believe that regular watchers find BBT funny. Any comedy will have at least one funny joke. I'm regularly exposed to awful tween comedies like Austin and Ally, Jesse, Dog with a Blog, etc., and as execrable as they are, I'll sometimes laugh and immediately feel ashamed. The laughs come easier as you come to know the characters. And I can see the nerd/geek/gamer demographic enjoying jokes about familiar territory.

What I can't believe is a studio audience plucked from random Hollywood tourists finding references to Windows 7 uproariously funny. They may film in front of a live audience, and I'm sure they laugh at the jokes (laughter is contagious), but they also have professional laughers planted in the audience and they surely add some in post, because every single joke gets a huge laugh.
