Maybe, but if were over 4.5m I'd be suprised, MS doesn't want there fanbase thinking they backed the wrong team & switching out.

Don't get me wrong I'm not hating on the XB1 (brought one myself) just pretty sure we'd have have those milestones by now if not for anything but reassurance for the community & pubs/devs alike.

None sadly. We have yet to even get a "4 million" announcement. The 6 million the other poster posted, is wishful thinking, not even that-banned-site which shall remain unnamed is posting that ridiculous number

Great numbers for Sony too. They've got to be happy with that. I wonder what their minimum acceptable figures were.

MS has to try and spin it like they're always winning. Thursday is going to be an amazing barrage of PR nonsense. No company wants to come out and admit they're getting destroyed.

The media is just lazy though. An impossible amount of sites just parroted MS's "fastest selling console" idiocy word for word.

Who was it that said that Sony were manufacturing 1 million consoles a month? I am almost certain some insider said that. If that is true, then they are basically selling everything they make.

There will be no drop unless Microsoft goes under $399 and Sony has zero reason to pack in anything whatsoever. Perhaps some PS+ trials to fish for subscriptions but when you're in their position you don't need to surrender a single additional dollar of revenue. The odds of an official X1 drop to $349 are for all intents and purposes statistically insignificant at this point.

I'll assume you're joking on the camera. Packing in a camera for the hell of it (which there is zero, absolutely zero reason to do) would only be a cruel joke to rub a thumb in Microsoft's eye. It'd be a hilarious/cruel insult but not one worth wasting any money on. The Kinect is an anchor that will hold Microsoft back every single day until they get rid of it and/or drop the retail below the PS4. Just matching won't be enough.

But that was a very different ( financial wise ) Sony, At that point in time they were firing on all cylinders unlike now, so unless there's an actually solid threat to drop price I just don't see it, yet.

Wow, it's crazy that 7 Million people bought a PS4 just to play Final Fantasy XV and Kingdom Hearts 3. Crazy, but not hard to believe.

Their original projection was 5 million shipped so they sold through nearly 2 million more. Latest GI has an interview with Andrew house, cerny, and crazy ken talking ps4. Very good interview. Andrew said the initial projections weren't intentionally low balled. Just the system ended up selling way more than anticipated.

Don't take that for granted because they were left with 900k unsold systems in December (shipped mostly in the US) and sales during the first quarter just haven't been strong enough to put them in a position to ship an other million units.
They're selling the system just in the US and UK at this point and even there the numbers are not really strong.
In fact I wouldn't be suprised if they announced cumulative shipments of 4.5m units by the end of March in their fiscal report. But we'll see of course ;)

wouldnt that be next year then? And besides, Sony is not going to lose money on PS4 for no reason at all.

the way it is selling, we wont get even a free packin game this year... for it to get a price drop, sales would have to go down.

PS3 is still $270 in the USA and you guys think they will drop PS4 price to $350, when it is selling anything that comes to the stores and it soldout in major european countries.

Thats not just crazy, it is insane.

They way everything is going, we might get a packin game for free, xmas 2015.

Boxes sure are moving. I guess they wanted to get out infront of the NPD / titanfall bump tomorrow.

So when was the last time we got XB1 numbers from MS? Was it 3 million in January? I wonder how they are doing because I honestly cant guess. Hope we get a idea tomorrow. 5 Million?
