Ootani confirmed for ultimax. Special attack, mystery food x. Make it happen Atlus.

I think they handled Labrys's robot story better and had more emotion behind it than Aigis's robot story, which needed other things on top of it to garner emotion.

I'm saying until story mode is out, we won't really know what the hell he's doing there, which kind of makes his inclusion in a reveal trailer somewhat pointless.

And with your other examples, again, the point is the idea of the trailer here. If a character is in any of those other games, but not as a fighter, were they featured prominently in a trailer to promote the game, cause I kind of doubt it without causing some kind of backlash. Adachi has the added baggage of going against what they said they wanted to avoid with Arena in the first place.

The reveal trailer was associated with the console version of the game. The console version of the game will have a Story Mode. The character will have a notable role in the console version's Story Mode. We know this because of how the character appears in the arcade and what they say. Therefore, it is not pointless, and it is in fact an action taken by several developers to build hype and mystery around a game's story (see: Ace Attorney 5 trailer #1).

And look at the end of this Chronophantasma PV. It's not the best example because this leans more towards gameplay, but the character that is teased at the very end—Izanami or whatever—is not a playable character in that game. Most people understand that teases like that, regardless of if it's a fighting game or not, can very much be about the character themselves and how they're associated to a game's story, and not necessarily in a playable capacity.

Their mission statement for Persona 4 Arena Ultimax was never, EVER "we will not spoil Persona 4." Those were things they said in regards to the first game, but they obviously don't want to continue that philosophy for Ultimax because they realize it would prove to be EXTREMELY restrictive when it came to taking the series' conclusion seriously or being able to convey what they wanted to.

Labrys was fine. Meeting her for the first time 10 times in a row was not.

I wouldn't be surprised if Ultimax's story structure is more like Blazblue: Chronophantasma's, which has three story paths that each follow different characters. That'd cut down on the repetition that was present in Arena's story mode, and would also eliminate continuity issues like the winner of the tournament being different in every story mode.

IMO Labrys is what Aigis P3 Journey should have been

I kind of agree with you. I also hated Labrys before playing her story mode, her design is just terrible. But after I played it I found her story to be heartfelt (albeit ultra-cliché.) I'm not like the biggest Labrys fan, but now I don't actively dislike her either

True, Junpei is the least offender of this. But he does now fight with a bat, and a lot of his moves are influenced by baseball.

Nah but "ALL BASEBALL EVERYTHING ALL THE TIME" sort-of is.

So you'd rather him be a generic FG character instead, which could basically have his bat replaced by a sword in animations?

I can agree that the reason he's involved in the battle is silly but, given that, they perfectly adapted the fact that he fights with a bat into his moves.

I just hope that he still has his character development from the Answer. However, considering his popularity in Japan (he's the only character not getting a keychain in Japan) and what they did with Kanji in the first game, I have zero faith.

Sorry, but dead parents + caused death of an ally + friends leaving to form secret organisation.

I think its safe to assume that we're getting gothic Ken for Ultimax.
I kid

To be honest I feel like they could have at least kept the sword. I'm fine with everyone else's redesign for the most part, but they all seem more serious than Junpei's. My biggest fear for the game is that they make Junpei a complete joke in the story mode a la Kanji in arena.

I'm new to this OT, but am I allowed to talk about SMT 3 Nocturne here? I just got it yesterday and have been playing it a lot. I'm not sure if this is Persona games only, or if SMT games in general count as well?

I don't think it's entirely restrictive, but the title DOES say Persona Community

Hopefully, this is another sub story mode with all the characters. Either way, more Slinks is never a bad thing.

I predict it will be Blazblue's Abyss Mode redone so that instead of descending a tower, you are climbing one, and it is called Tartarus Mode. Social Link stuff is in for bonus hilarious story stuff.

This is what Abyss Mode has looked like in various incarnations of Blazblue:

Blazblue Continuum Shift Abyss

Blazblue Chrono Phantasma Abyss

BTW, this is all off a tweet of someone, but this person translated some of the P4A2 patch notes, but lets wait for scans to really freak out over it.

I think its fine, dunno how the others think though!

Alright, I won't talk about it then.

Since I'm here, I do have to say that Hell Biker has got to be my favorite persona. He reminds me of Ghost Rider, and he's one of my top heroes. I think I like him better without a helmet. I know it's safety first, but he's dead. He don't need a helmet. I don't think the one in Persona 2 had a helmet.

I really think we have to have a rebirth of a redoing of the Megaten Community Topic. It is sad how dead it is when the game topics themselves have more posts than the Community Topic for it.
