Stop playing with my heart. We all know the reason you're playing coy is because Naughty Dog reacquired the Crash Bandicoot license and is making Crash Team Racing 2

Okay...maybe that was a bit much

Well, yeah - but NeoGAF's mods and administrators try to prevent that sort of toxicity by holding posters accountable for the rumors they spread.

Anyway, as for these E3 rumors, I'm always of two minds about this stuff. Part of me wants to stop caring about this nonsense and just worry about my own site and my own work. But this sort of thing also pisses me off, not just because it's spreading misinformation to readers (and making some healthy advertising revenue along the way) but because it makes people less inclined to trust gaming websites in general. In the fight for better game journalism all around, the widespread success of this sort of careless rumor-mongering seems like a major loss. It's already on Reddit, N4G... we've even gotten a couple of tips linking us to that DualShockers article. Bums me out.

(Who the hell posts an article like this when they don't even know who the source is? And why echo fanboy nonsense like "Gorgeous. They’re back with a bang" and "It’s shaping up to be incredible with jaw-dropping visuals"? Sigh.)

All I can say is that I understand what you mean, and hope you can keep fighting the good fight and not giving in to writing this kind of ridiculous article :)

Totally agree. In short words: click-bait. They know what people want so they publish it. Ah, it's not like the old times.

so your basically saying none of Kotaku's insiders/sources have echoed this rumor or any portion of it as being true?

As a gaming fan, this just reeks of fanboy sauce/someone trying to hard.

"Uncharted PS4 3 Minute Trailer showcasing "In-engine" footage interspersed with gameplay segments. Visuals are supposedly unprecedented and set a benchmark for console graphics."

I'm sure it'll be there, but lol. Sorry. Nobody knows this.

Jeez.. If that is really real ...Sony done good.. The only way they could top that is have Trinton come back in some for of cameo wearing a tophat with a cane then say "$299" and tap dance his happy ass of the stage.

It's a probably a good thing ND didn't reacquire Crash license. I mean my body couldn't handle Syphon Filter and Crash coming back home. It is not ready. But if at least SP comes back, or The Last Guardian isn't vaporware than it'll be enough.

If accurate, saddened by the lack of platformers or adventure games. I like my departure from real/gritty/sim games. I guess my WiiU will be my mainstay for that.

They live off this. Buzzwords and click-bait galore.

It bothers me, too.

That list sounds like fan fiction. Even Chad Warden wouldn't come up with something so unbelievable.

Exactly, anyone who thinks "Visuals are supposedly unprecedented and set a benchmark for console graphics." would appear in a professional or semi professionally written document is woefully arrogant. Though it wouldn't be a bad thing if it did manage to live up to the hype, esp if Sony wants uncharted to remain its flagship series.

lol at everyone getting hyped with something so fake. Sounds like someone took Greg Miller's wet dreams and put them on a png or whatever.

Surprised this thread is still up.

DualShockers is so untrustworthy it has gone beyond a joke. I like how they try to lend credence to the rumor by saying it's been "double-sourced". Two lies don't make a right.

Even if it were somehow all true (lol), it's just handled so poorly. Instead of verifying that this tipster actually is who they say they are, the DualShockers writer just copy/pasted what they wrote, because it's "awfully detailed," and also maybe some of this stuff was second-sourced by, uh, who, exactly? What second source do they have that would be in a position to know some but not all of this information? I mean, come on.

Also, when a reporter uses anonymous sources as part of a story, he or she has to consider the motives of those sources, which means thinking something like "Hey, maybe I shouldn't use language like 'jaw-dropping visuals' or 'back with a bang' here, because this tipster could work for Sony, and clearly is writing this in the interest of generating excitement and selling PlayStations."

There's just so much disrespect for readers here, and I really wouldn't care about what some random insignificant website is doing if not for the fact that clearly this article has gotten a lot of eyeballs. Reporters need to be more responsible than this.

There's not a single chance that this list is accurate for what will be shown at E3. A lot of these predictions are safe assumptions of what will be revealed in due time, but not all at once at E3...that's just not how Sony operates. They spread out their announcements between E3 and GamesCom, leaving a little bit for TGS as well.

What really screams BS is Bend Studio possibly releasing their PS4 game this year. Not a single chance in hell. The Last Guardian is even more suspicious for a 2014 release.

What you see this fall is what we're getting -- DriveClub and hopefully The Order. Everything else will be 2015 that they show off.

Completely agree.

They also fail to explain why Sony's marketing firm (BBH) would have access to information about games coming out more than 12 months in the future. I find it incredulous that anyone is taking this seriously.

You guys do know that not everybody here is taking it seriously but we are very hopeful? Just because we'd be happy if it happened and are showing our happiness, doesn't mean we are taking it seriously.

Yeah, unfortunately it's those marketing words in the rumour which get people excited and generate hits (and revenue) I guess.

Uncharted trailer - Likely. After the VGX teaser, they have to show something. I doubt they'll show gameplay though.
You doubt they'll show gameplay for a title that was teased 6 months prior to E3? I think they would. There's nothing unbelievable about that.
Media Molecule on Morpheus - No. Too soon for showing Morpheus games. I doubt they'll talk about it at all.
How would you know what's too soon for a Morpheus title? It doesn't actually need to be a fully fleshed title so much as a tease of what's to come. After all, it wasn't like MM showed off a real game last time either.
GT6 PS4 - No. They don't want to compete with Driveclub.
I think you might be right about DriveClub - unless they're confident that it will play different enough and provide a unique experience with the social aspects. If they truly are confident that DC is something new and special, I could see GT7: Prologue being a thing. Though I'm sure these things need time to ramp up, so its possible that this was put into motion long before DC was delayed.
Kill Strain == Syphon Filter - Seems random. It's probably a new IP, possibly Vita.
The Syphon Filter series was always about killer viruses. Kill Strain actually makes a ton of sense given the series’ plot material.
Wipeout - No. They killed the franchise when they closed Sony Liverpool.
Ye of little faith.
Quantic Dream game - Too soon. QD just finished Beyond, they won't release another game before 2016.
Too soon for a teaser?
Ninja Theory - Nonsense. They let them go after HS, why would they work with them again?
This new group at Sony seems a far cry from the old guard. Might just be something here, but I don’t see how past experience on a 2007 title would preclude collaboration over 7 years later.
InFamous:Second Son DLC - Why would they show it at the conference?
My guess is that it’ll be part of a portion at the conference that talks about sales success for the first major first party exclusive post launch.

All this does is overhype the conference. No way will Sony show all these games. They will focus on games that will be coming out between Fall 2014 and Summer 2014.

very true, I imagine a rumor article like this Dualshockers one would piss anyone off working at another gaming site, especially given the traffic that this article is probably generating. I feel bad for Kotaku if you guys did have some portion of this rumor and were waiting to go about releasing this information in more professional manner. although to be fair, didn't Kotaku sort of do a similar thing when the site published the Fallout 4 casting call sheet, which was equally vague and unconfirmed by other gaming sites as being true?
