Titanfall PC: Pilot Hunter/CTF gone as separate modes: "not widely used, long waits"

This game had been out for what, 2 months?

Christ, the PC crowd moves on fast.

Tbh I was getting games without full lobbies in Hardpoint after only 2 weeks. My whole community ( maybe around 30 of us bought it) abandoned it within the month. The PC crowd won't move on fast if the game has any replayability.

This decision is weird , what difference would it have made if they'd just left it in ?

Put the game on Steam, add Steam Achievements, Steamworks functionality (ala CS:GO) and drop the price and you wouldn't have this problem.

Putting it on Origin only is a death sentence.
Bullshit. COD has had this problem for years, and I'm including the popular ones. Origin has nothing to do with it.

Is this a first for video games? Removing modes after launch like this.

Not really. Halo removes playlists all the time if there is hardly any population for that particular playlist. The gametype is always available to play in custom games. Looks like Titanfall does the same.

CTF on titanfall was legitimately a lot of fun and a shame more didnt try it.

Still, what kind of fuckery is this? If I wanna wait, let me wait. Put up a "may be a long wait" disclaimer. This game is LIGHT on content. Taking away wont help.

This has already been said but the "PC Crowd" sticks to their games more than anything if the game is good. Titanfall is not one of these games.

Quake, original CS, Starcraft, old MMOs like Everquest (even WoW is old now), and A LOT more have gamers playing it on a daily basis. Not too many people still play PS2 games on a daily basis for 10+ years.

I remember Bungie had the nerve though to add new gametypes while getting rid of the old ones people weren't playing as much. How bat shit crazy is that, removing content while adding new content.

...What the heck? I'm a huge Titanfall fan but that's a terrible decision if I've ever seen one. What does that bring the gametype total to, 3? lol

Awful.

Unbelievable. I felt ripped off after my first night with the game and that was when I had access to ALL the gamemodes. Now they've further diminished my $60 purchase of a $40 game.
Let me guess, CTF and Pilot Hunter modes are available in the new DLC.

Screw EA & screw Respawn. Your customers deserve better than this crap. Maybe next time you should think about either charging a fair amount or including more content. Other games have EXTENSIVE campaign modes, not just playlists with radio drama.

They're right about the wait times, queuing for CTF and LTS was an endeavor in futility for me. I ended up just giving up and stopped playing the game. It makes me so sad that Attrition ended up becoming the standard mode for Titanfall.
It is really not surprising; Attrition has by far the most instant-gratification and this is a problem I had leading up the launch and while playing it. There's just too much reward for getting kills opposed to completing objectives.

I never expected them to outright remove 2 out of the 5 game modes though, how does that benefit anyone playing?

There is a new COD every year with the almost the same gameplay, people got bored. TF is kinda new "concept".

Also its makes sense to put the game in the big store in the block than just only the small store in the corner.

So what's the good reason for this? What harm were the people looking for ctf matches doing to the other modes?

I'd guess they weren't doing harm to the other modes, but rather to the message. If Pilot Hunter and CTF were to blame for a bulk of wait-time complaints, then the easiest way to fix that is to dispose of those playlists. Gouge out the offending eye.

It's not the best fix, mind. Just easiest and quickest. It'd be nice to see them make a return if and when the matchmaking is improved (possible) or the server system is overhauled (unlikely).

It's really not a comparison.

Halo is fairly popular with a good number of people playing to sustain playlists.

Titanfall on PC is not. It can't even sustain itself with a few modes. Adding more is just adding to the problem.

CoD Ghosts has also been adding new gametypes lately. I don't think any of them have had playlists to themselves(probably wrong). Grind, Reinforced, and Drop Zone I believe.

I bought this game based on the hype at launch.

I played it 3 days, and haven't touched it since.

It was fun... but overall I haven't been this letdown by lack of content and or updates in forever.

I will not be purchasing another product that Respawn puts out.

Players trying to access these modes had overlong wait times to find other users and it was making for a poor experience.

I'm guessing they think having a bad experience is a lot worse than having no choice in ever being in a position to have it. But come on, there have been less played modes in multiplayer FPS games since the genre exists. This sounds like some weird corporate influenced design shit, to preserve the good image of Titanfall.

I've honestly no opinion on the game either way since I haven't played it except for the brief beta but this is some weird ass choice.

So as the game finds itself on sale and when the sales get better again because of discounted pricing, which they always do, there's now no chance for these modes to get populated again because they've chopped the content out. WTF is that?

Is the game community drying up faster than sale prices of the game can get people onboard?

Why cut things that could become populated again once the game goes on sale?

I also purchased at launch and got bored in less than a day. Luckily Origin gives refund in 24hrs. TBH, it felt like COD to me which I've grown extremely tired of.

The PC crowd didn't "move on" as it was never "there" to begin with.

I know this is anecdotal, but the members of my PC gaming community:

a) got their fill of the game during the weekend beta, decided that they'd experienced all that they needed to experience of Titanfall, and decided not to purchase it at all, or

b) decided that it was closer to being a $30 title than a $60 and are waiting until it hits that price point.

The reception for the game among the PC community was lukewarm at best.

You're talking out of your ass dude.

CoD PC had the exact same problem with certain game modes, as does every game. It has nothing to do with it being out there every year. The "same gameplay" argument would work if it was the DM modes with small queues, not the niche modes.

You're right, its a good thing taking content out of a game already pretty skimpy on content. Also the fact Respawn promised new modes no where to be seen in the "big update", or even talked about while taking modes out, you think it'd be a good time to mention them again.

The game now has 3 playlists excluding the DLC ones. Fucking crazy for 2 months after release.

I wonder if they patched out any game modes in cod 4... oh wait the community can host its own servers and isnt crippled by a lobby system. Silly me.

So there are lobby's too in the pc version? Can't you just join any ongoing server like bf4? I was thinking of getting this with the 40% off... but if it has lobby's I am not touching this with a 10 foot poll!

And the problem with this decision is that for people in category b, there is no option for them to begin to populate underutilized modes because the devs simply stripped them away.

Can we all agree now, regardless of "fun", this game is one of the biggest clusterfucks in recent history? This, Battlefield 4, and Shadow of the Eternals are all, for me, great looks into gaming and how easy it is to fuck up your message.

The game died two weeks after launch on PC(I'm sure that Xbox One version isn't the same.)

I have not been able to find a single game of Pilot Hunter (My favorite mode) after that.
I wasn't the only one. Peope in the lobbies chatting with me were having the same results.

CTF, really? Fuck this playlist bullshit, if they actually cared about their "amazing and large PC audience" they would have implemented a server browser by now.
