Bwahahaha. I'm almost done watching the first 26 episodes of 2012 Jojo so this is even funnier to me.

I just see Shia as a sexual woman who is proud of her body and wants to show it off, it's harmless having a character like that IMO. Now if Impa and Zelda got huge breasts and started wearing revealing clothes, then it would be obvious fanservice.

Enjoy this beautiful, covered up Shia avatar. I even made her breasts smaller. :p

From The Legend of Zelda UK's FB page/
First time I've seen it. So they're sticking with Hyrule Warriors and no mention of Legend of Zelda anywhere. Though maybe they're also banking on people recognizing the shield, it's pretty iconic at this point.
And what up with the flying island? Skyloft? Canon confirmed?

More like invading bad thing in the sky warping over Hyrule castle.
Same shape and has the statue of the godess, it's Skyloft alright.

That's definitely Skyloft. But the statue is still there... so pre-SS?

Logo looks weird. Not sure I like it.

Nintendo PR:

Hyrule Warriors, the imaginative upcoming game for the Wii U console, combines the action-packed game play of Tecmo Koei’s Dynasty Warriors series with the iconic characters and worlds from The Legend of Zelda series. In addition to the focused action game play of leading one soldier against a massive horde of enemies, the Dynasty Warriors series is also known for its epic storyline. In this game, players control Link as he faces a powerful new enemy – the evil sorceress Cia – and her army to rescue the captive Princess Zelda. For the first time ever, Princess Zelda’s loyal Hyrulean Captain Impa makes her debut as a playable character. Impa equips a huge sword and can perform powerful combos to defeat enemies. Many other surprising playable characters make appearances in Hyrule Warriors, and each playable character will have signature weapons and action animations.

The first stage of the game takes place in Hyrule Field, a location that will be very familiar to fans of The Legend of Zelda series. The game-play structure of most of the stages bears a close resemblance to the Dynasty Warrior games, so Hyrule Warriors is a game that can truly be enjoyed by fans of both The Legend of Zelda and the Dynasty Warrior series. Players must defend or reclaim areas by fighting against hordes of enemies and using different types of flashy and powerful moves. Players will encounter new enemies such as Sorceress Cia, but some familiar enemies like Bokoblins and Lizalfos from The Legend of Zelda series will also appear in the game.

There's no imprint in the ground from Skyloft, so it can't be when it's being raised into the sky.

I'm betting on some dimensional shenanigans.

Unlike Impa who is directly engaging in combat, Shia until now was not a combatant but simply balancing the Triforce. It would look weird if she was wearing armor.

Oddly enough I think this may be gaming history's first OVER-armored female, the way the plats and epaulets are arranged make me wonder how she moves her arms, all to look intimidating. the leather with bracers would be enough in my opinion, though of course wanting to bare her chest is a big no no its still doesn't assault the eye so expect less bitching on that front though just as impractical as Bayonetta.

But she's the villain. So her sexualization is being used to show how sexuality in women is evil. It's just another character who you ogle over while also not feeling bad about. It's okay to hate her/kill her because she's being the typical "slut" character. And her tendency to act on impulse or use her boobs to seduce only builds upon the idea that sexualized women are evil, corrupted and worthy of contempt...from both sexes.

No matter how you spin it, while being pro sexualization or anti sexualization her character is still very wrong for a Zelda game.

And humanity. :p

I don't think I need to have played the game in order to realize that she's dumb fan service for neck beards.
Just look at her:

Why do we always need to do the "neckbeard fedora tipping" thing with this?
Are you really trying to pretend the only people that find adult women attractive are stereotypical fat nerds?

They don't look anything like Shia.
She's fan service incarnate.

I find issue with this flawed logic they don't look like Shia because they're polgoned poorly. Not because they're inherently less fanservice. Look at any character with their boobs showing, they're sharp and pointed.

So making the argument they don't look like aren't as pandering as Shia is pointless because they couldn't do that even if they wanted to.

Now look at the great fairy. In twilight princess a recreation of a previous sexy character.

This is fanservice and it's even more disturbing, because she looks like a young girl.

That's not to say such fanservice is inherently good, but that's some pretty awful double standards you got there and at best your being fallacious.

Color me interested.

Diggin' "boob-lady's" design, but her name, I feel, doesn't really seem to fit in the Zelda universe. Shy-ya, like Shia Labeouf right? In contrast to Zelda, Link, and Impa, it looks out of place.

It fits. Note Zelda has english-germanic, hungarian, and then random japanese (my namesake), and other stuff. The Poe Sisters anmes (Beth, Jo, etc); Telma, Nabooru still makes me scratch my head and think its pdgin version of a proper name.
Shia by contrast is name or word in a large center of the world (Middle East and Hellenic) as well invokes old world culture (Shia Law and similar stuff).

Its seems the theme with the badguys is outrageous Dynasty Warrior implications of boss monsters so I'm hoping for Gohma,

BTW is is just me of is Impa's weapon not just inappropriate (admittedly she's gone from private aid with some skills to captain of the guard) but that screen shot I think she's flashblading them with a guitar riff out of Godhand or DMC

It's saying Link is a favorite character and that you get to play as Impa for the first time.

Then they should've typed that as their sentence, because that's not what the one they have actually says.

Play as fan-favorite characters like Link [break here] and Impa for the first time in the series!

It's a poorly worded sentence. There's no punctuation for any type of break. As typed, the sentence reads straight through and the description is applied to both Link and Impa.

The only reason anyone would read it otherwise is because they already know that Link is always the main character so the way it's said is changed to force the sentence to comply with your existing knowledge base.
