Forza Horizon 2 announced (360, Xbox One), releasing this fall

Honestly shocked by it being cross gen. Not something I expected in the least.

Looking forward to gameplay footage.

To me personally, if it being cross gen makes you not even want it, you were never interested in the series in the first place. No logical Horizon fan about to sit here and honestly say they do not want Horizon 2 just cause of cross gen business.

From what i see most of "upset" peoples are don't even own an Xbox One
That's the boat I'm in. I'm waiting for MS to give me a reason to care about their new console but this is just doing the opposite. Would we have the same defense force around if Halo 5 was coming to 360? How about the newest Gears or Quantum Break?

THE WORDS! They'll drift away without the _!

Agreed, if you enjoyed the first game, I don't see why the platforms it is on would matter.

So I'm assuming e3 is going to be mainly filled with gameplay videos with some sprinkled announcements once in a while?

Unless they actually have announcements that can round out an entire show that is...

So instead of responding to the complaint with an argument of your own you just complain about it. Very constructive.

*shrug* True, true. But you're just lambasting me, so, you're not doing much better.

I think it goes without saying that supporting the last platform is a good thing on MS's part. I vividly remember people complaining about how there wasn't enough support for the OG Xbox last gen, and now they're getting it with this gen. It's a classic example of you can't make everyone happy.

Cross-gen? Bloody hell. Great way to deflate hype. Are the 360 versions at this point even worthwhile? Would they not have been better making it a massive, impressive, slick Xbone exclusive designed to drive sales of that console?

From a business perspective, going cross-gen strikes me as really dumb, mainly because old gen game sales has died on its arse while still neutering this game's ability to sell Xbones. And if there's one thing Microsoft needs right now, it's games that can sell Xbones. Baffling decision.

Oh.... Im both excited and really disappointed. I was excited for this announce, but it did not crossed my mind it would be cross-gen. =/
Im gonna buy it anyway though.

I can see the 360 version being 30fps and XB1 version being 60fps (ntkrnl said this).

Given that the original was 30fps on the 360 and they are adding in weather, I can't see it getting above 30 this time around either. Will be interesting to see if they can hit 1080/60 on the XB1 though.

There's so much slightly off with this news. Cross-gen means that they can't re-coup the cost at a good enough profit without releasing on both systems. The lack of technical detail probably means we're going to get underwhelmed. If it was 1080p/60fps they'd be real proud of it since they're launching next to Driveclub.

It also means that every single screenshot and video is going to get compared. Even sales. Yikes. And we thought Titanfall/Infamous was unbearable. This will be such pixel counting, and by people who have never played either.

Now I'm really interested to see what they're actually going to announce at E3.

Forza Horizon is probably not a system mover. The original didn't sell all that well.

Which is exactly why they are doing cross gen. Do we want Playground to do layoffs or shut its doors?

Remember, they are not owned by MS. The sales of this game will be what sustains them.

I guess MFST wanted to make sure to cash the 360 crowd too, as the xbone audience might not big enough to make the profit they want. Cross gen is so weird, but understandable.

So buy it for Quantum Break, new Gears, Halo 5, Forza 5, DR3, Ryse, KI, SO, AND better version of Horizon 2?

Were any 360 first party games or third party exclusives the first year, or one year after launch, released on the OXbox?

I'm honestly asking because I really don't know.
Don't know, but there were plenty of cross gen multiplatforms.

Not sure why its ok for 3rd parties to do cross-gen, but not 1st party.

I'll admit I'm surprised and I think I would have liked to have seen this be current-gen exclusive just for selfish, curiosity reasons, but I mean, if there's sense in making it cross-gen, then I don't see why they shouldn't go down that route.

I'm not really that interested in many of those games. My comments in this thread are really just about the potential precedent MS is setting by making this game cross gen. If this is the only time it happens then fine, no big deal. It's just a little strange and troubling, is all.

I'm assuming they will just tweak the engine from the first one on the 360, so in some ways it does make sense to release it there too. I don't think it will really negate people upgrading to XBox One as a real fan of the game would want to buy the better version anyway. I'm sure that if GT7 came out on PS3 and PS4 it would cause a lot of people to go out and buy a PS4 just to get the better version.

Sure its great for 360 owners but I'm talking about MS here.

You would think they would make this XB1 exclusive to attract more people to buy XB1's and increase its sales.

I agree that it's surprising too but I don't see it as that big of a problem. While Forza Horizon is a series that can appeal to more users than Motorsport, I remember reading that the sales of Horizon were worse than Motorsport 4.
