It´s almost as if people were mad because the spent 400 bucks on a new machine and were promised the next generation in gaming only to find themselves stuck in cross-gen hell a year later.

Well that's somewhat strange considering the majority of people in here complaining don't even own an Xbox One based on the reasons they're giving for being disappointed.

HOLY SHIT YESSSSSSSS!!!!

fantastic to have it confirmed. Loving the sound of the new location and weather!

THE YEAR OF ARCADE RACER!

Me and you online. We need to do this! Though there is a chance the world would explode from pure awesome. But lets try anyway

Those people should have learnt from previous generations then.

Previous gens had first party titles across two consoles? Show me, because PDZ, Kameo and PGR3 certainly weren't options for Xbox back in 2005 when I picked the 360 up - let alone a year later.

To everyone suggesting the cross gen thing makes business sense, I really think it doesn't, and we've already seen evidence of this.

While there are 80 million owners of both the 360/PS3, you always have to think about how many of those people are active users of those consoles. Based on evidence like GT6 it would seem not all that many.

Last gen software sales have fallen off a cliff , the type of people who buy multiple games per year ( and not just CoD and Fifa ) are moving on to X1 and PS4. I'd guess the lost sales from making this X1 exclusive would be negligible and certainly cheaper than some DLC money hats we'll see announced at E3.

This shows that MS have very little fait in the xbone at the moment. Its obviously not as profitable as they thought it'd be.

Or maybe they have so much faith that they announce this before E3 because they have plenty of Xbox One exclusive stuff to show off?

No trailer? wtf. Hope we get a gameplay in tomorrow preview.

Southern europe sounds good. I have the feeling they are using same engine as FH, just adding better lighting and weather system.

lol @ cross-gen whinning.

I'm looking forward to see what all my old colleagues have been up to! Surprised about the cross-gen support though. Seems like that's a decision that really might harm Microsoft if they are trying to encourage new system adoption, but keeping the 360 support. Weird.

What are you talking about? I spent 500 and don't feel like that at all. I haven't looked back at my 360 once. Another X1 game is coming. Why does everyone think they'll be the exact same? Does the 360 have the drivatar system on it now?

I don't know that people wanted ms to support the 360 with the same games they were releasing on xbox one, lol. Come on. I think they were talking about 2011-2013 but whatever
To my knowledge it has always been the case that people wanted support after the next-gen console had been released. Ah well, some people here are never satisfied.

If you buy a console, when there aren't any games that you do enjoy playing, you are at fault. I seriously don't understand certain people.

I think cross gen only makes a lot of sense for monster franchises, like COD, Assassin's Creed, etc.

Considering how hard both Gran Turismo 6, and Dark Souls 2 bombed (well, didn't meet expectations).

I think you're right. Banking on the last gen number of consoles alone is not enough.

Pretty much. 360 was pretty dead in terms of first party games in the last couple of years before the Xbone's release, and now the new console's out and needs system sellers, Microsoft's decided to release first party 360 games again. It's a really odd decision, considering that they would sell more than a few Xbones consoles had they canned the 360 version. Combine that with oldgen being already dead in terms of games sold, and you have an utterly bizarre decision.

Well the original xbox and forza 1 had drivatars, just not the online cloud part of it.

Haha don't act like that's a bad thing. Drive tars just turn every race into a weird Destruction Derby.

For me personally the cross-gen is the best news that could have happened but I can definitely see how it upsets those that already have a Xbox One. It's a little strange that Microsoft stopped supporting the X360 2 years ago and now all of the sudden they publish this.

From what we've seen every cross-gen game is selling more on PS4/X1 than PS3/X360 except for the huge franchises likes COD and FIFA.

For example 75% of the sales of Watch Dogs in the UK were on PS4/X1 and the game sold a lot of copies overall. There is a lot of evidence to suggest that the hardcore crowd (buys 2-3 games a month) already migrated to next-gen and those are who buy games outside the mainstream COD, BF, FIFA, NBA or Madden.

Cross generation makes a lot of sense for a number of reasons. They know that Horizon wont shift Xbones, and the install base of Xbone is nowhere near where they wanted it to be, so by releasing on 360 as well they get sales from all the people who haven't bought Xbones because they've either bought a PS4 or haven't jumped ship at all yet.

The graphics will underwhelm, but, if you wanted cutting edge graphics I don't know why you'd buy an Xbone in the first place. Weaker hardware, and Microsoft haven't cared about their first party pushing killer graphics since the OG Xbox.

This is quite baffling IMO.

What engine will Turn 10 use for the 360 version? The Forza 5 engine made to run on 360? The Forza 4 engine?

This is great for 360 owners, but in my opinion it does show a lack of confidence that they can sell great numbers of XB1s by the time this came out. It's as if they are falling back on the comfort blanket of 360 ownerbase in case the XB1 numbers arent good.

Last gen they couldnt wait to drop the original Xbox like a bad habit once the 360 came out.

Cross gen is a really weird decession for a first party studio.

Kinda makes phil spencer's "x360 crowd is too satisfied" comment even more amusing.

I believe it makes sense a bit more for a driving game. As somebody pointed out, a lot of people have spent a lot of money on driving wheels and peripherals (the wireless thingy came out from Microsoft not so much time ago), so they are pretty much giving 360 players a racing game to play.
Still, I'll wait before judging. They are implementing Drivatars, which are based on the cloud, aren't they? Well, that's a first feature which is probably going to be left out from the 360 version for starters. Then I believe that the graphics will look really different. It's a game only coming out for two platforms from the same producer, so most of the problems of working with 5 or 6 hardwares that afflict other cross-gen games might not present themselves here.

From what i see most of "upset" peoples are don't even own an Xbox One

The Crossgen complaints sound incredibly greedy. Even when games were not cross gen last generation, they still ended up gimped because converting the height of gaming on "sub HD" to the world of HD took devs a lot of time. So we started with a load of RPGs with lacking towns, or games that reused / stretched assets much more than the previous games in the same series.

Now, Cross gen might limit some of the pure current-gen potential, but hopefully we'll get much fuller, equal to last-gen sized experience out of it. Then, in a few years, we get the dedicated-to-latest-gen experiences. Along with all this, people who can't afford a $400 / $500 system, but still can afford a $60 game or 2, can enjoy the latest game in a series they love.

The only real problem I have with this... is that I wish they'd figure out some solutions to either enable cross-generation play, or offer more cross-buy incentives. The systems are not competitors, they're sister systems. Offering a free digital copy of the XB1 version for those who get the 360 one, and ability to transfer save via cloud, would be a nice gesture. And it'd sweeten the deal for Previous Gen people to more easily switch over to the newest gen sooner, rather than later.

I never got into Horizon 1, but it's demo charmed me. I like the less Sim, more Outrun-feel of the game. I can see myself getting into this game a lot sooner on XB1 than on the crowded library of 360.

Gotta say this seems a odd time for MS to show late support for 360.

As a 360 owner this is well and good but this really doesn't feel the best move to help XB1. Particularly in Europe I'd add. This is sure to result in a very odd face off as well which I already suspect is a "they can't win" for MS. The One version will either be so much better the result will make the 360 version seem a waste of time effort or the difference will be judged to be not enough.

Really odd competitive decision IMHO.

Game sounds good though.
