Forza Horizon 2 announced (360, Xbox One), releasing this fall

New rule for me. Cross gen = No buy especially for first party. If you put out new hardware use it!

So if the game comes out, looks good, and gets good review scores, you'll refuse to buy it because another team made a port at the same time? Bullshit, bro. You weren't going to buy it in the first place.

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills right now. The whole world is "cross gen" right now - when a game comes out it comes out for just about everything. You know how things like Crossbuy wouldn't exist otherwise?

Solid GOLD!

Microsoft got absolutely slaughtered for abandoning the original Xbox. They simply can't win.

But that's the thing. They pretty much abandoned the 360 years ago. Why support it now? Not that I'm complaining, of course, just wondering what their thought process for this was. This just means I'll get to play it for sure.

360 version is gonna be done by another studio, similar to how Titanfall was handled. Except this time, we know the Xbone version is using a next gen engine.

So if I had to guess, Horizon 2 on the 360 will look like Horizon 1, and Xbone Horizon 2 will look like Forza 5.
And if it was all done by one studio it would somehow all look identical, or?

They can't win with some of you. I'm yet to get an XB1, will probably buy one at the end of this year (already have a PS4). What I played of Forza Horizon on 360 was very good.

Even if you don't think that FH2 will sell more on 360 than on Xbone, it's still extra money for MS.

Wouldn't they be better taking the small hit on 360 sales to make this a reason to own a X1 rather than spelunking millions on exclusive DLC deals no one gives a toss about ?

I agree, they abandoned the 360 years ago. Unless you count all the games they released for it.

You have not seen anything from the game.

There's been plenty of cross gen games that prove last gen consoles are holding it back. Cross-Gen means a game isn't living up to it's full potential and I don't blame people for believing that.

Unless the games are made completely separately, even if the X1 version is lead it will be held back to make way for the 360 version. There's only so much they can do. Then again, Forza 5 didn't look too hot on X1, but that was a launch title.

The last major release I think was Judgement last year which sucked, and Fable Anniversary, a remake. The year before that they had another Halo game. And then, there's the yearly Forza too. So 1 or two games a year? Yea, I'd consider that pretty abandoned. It'd be like if Sony scrapped the PS3's 2013 lineup and instead released TLOU, Beyond, Puppeteer, and GT6 on PS4.

Well, as long as the Xone version makes the proper use of the hardware and does not get downed to the X360 version, im fine with it!

That's my opinion on it though. Mortal Kombat X sounds great but it being restrained by older platforms I'll pass. I mostly feel bad for PC users being caught in this cross gen dilemma.

Sorry for taking this off topic. Hope the game is great for all who are interested.

Finally! I loved Horizon and its relaxed atmosphere. The MP was pretty fun too. It's one of my favorite racing games ever. Nice to see it's resurfaced.

I got put off by the mainline series because it's way too much of a sim which I found boring. Color me hyped and excited for it. I can't wait for more details.

Titanfall on 360 looked like shit compared to XB1. The differences between the too were quite huge. That's why there was virtually no media of the game before it released.

Do you honestly believe this? You don't think Microsoft trying to sell a few more XBOs had anything to do with this? I mean they did do a price cut during Titanfall's launch window?

It was one of the shadiest moves by Microsoft's towards gamers...the loyal 360 fan base.

I'm guessing they wanted to make sure the fans of the first game who dont have an X1 get to play it? i can understand it if thats the case.

I was just about to write a Horizon LTTP. Crazy. I hope they take away the story line and have more than indie music this time.

You're telling me that I don't even need an X1 for this? That's pretty great news. The game itself is not surprising. I'll also predict that Forza 6 will be out in next Fall, and Horizon 3 after that. MS will keep milking the Forza name as much as they can.

But that's the thing. They pretty much abandoned the 360 years ago. Why support it now? Not that I'm complaining, of course, just wondering what their thought process for this was.

lol.

I am sure they will be assisting with the 360 version. Also like I said before they will probably be careful not to design anything that would severely destroy the experience on the 360.

Why would they be assisting with the 360 version and why would they aim for experience parity?

The 360 is very likely to be based on the engine that was used in Horizon 1 with some tweaks done to introduce weather.

The situations are completely different.

4 years (Xbox -> Xbox 360) vs. 8 years (Xbox 360 -> Xbox One).

4 years falls within the expected support cycle of a console. MS dumping the Xbox after 4 years is premature.

8 years is way beyond the expected support cycle. MS dumping the 360 is long overdue.

The sim stuff kinda puts me off the Forza series. Loved 1 & 2 but did not get into the rest. Horizon looks pretty cool, so I will keep an eye out for what they do with Horizon 2.

this is the only thing you've seen of the game

and you're already writing it off?

Good point, but the cross-gen issue is a turn off. My last cross-gen buy was PvZ (really BF4, but that was free)...fun game, hardly demanding of the hardware and reasonably priced.

I guess a Horizon would have to have key selling elements if it's a cross-gen title. However, a couple other gorgeous racers are launching later this year as well.

Soooo... by similar logic, you won't buy any PlayStation 4 game that's launching on the Vita too? Ya know, since it'll be held back by the Vita version?

edit: how about any remastered game ever? I mean those are the definition of "held back by the previous gen"?

I agree. Look at how close Titanfall 360 was despite being handled by a different team.

So, everything you are writing will become irrelevant if tomorrows screenshots will end up showing one of the most beautiful racers to date? I mean, in the end, you restrict the word "potential" to "graphics" - that is all. That seems just ... Wrong.

Why should the XB1 version will be "held back" for the 360 version? Playground probably doesn't even care for the 360 version at all - because it is simply not their job.

Man, I just can't wait for tomorrow. I expect - no, - know - based on Horizon (1) - that the game will just look amazing. And it will probably play even better.

Normally the Vita version is watered down in every way, not just graphics. There's also the difference that I already have a PS4. MS is still trying to sell me an X1. As much as I love how SO looks, I'm not buying a console just for that game, especially with QB and Halo 5 delayed to 2015.

The screenshots will make it look great regardless. Forza 5 looked great at E3 and then the final release took quite the downgrade. If Horizons 2 comes out, and it's evident that the 360 version had no effect, I'll gladly eat crow. It's just that as of now, every Cross Gen game I've played has shown me that is not the case

what exactly is the ps3 getting that the 360 isnt?

A lot of really cool Japanese games. Tales of Xillia 2, especially. And of course, Persona 5 next year. It's the reason my PS3 is still hooked up, it still has plenty of support.

Another cross-gen title? I was intrigued about this title, but I guess that's gone down on my list now.

So, what's left for XBO outside of E3? Sunset Overdrive?

I love reading stupid posts.

Exactly... such a flawed argument to assume Xbox one will be held back by another Dev producing a 360 version concurrently ... silly concept

Super excited about this. I mean...we all knew it was coming, but to officially know it will be out in a couple of months? Yeah!

Forza Horizon was one of the funnest/most enjoyable racing games I've played. High hopes for this one.

On IGN

UPDATE: To clarify, the Playground Games is developing solely for the Xbox One version, using Forza Motorsport 5's graphics engine as a baseline. The Xbox 360 version is being handled separately by Sumo Digital.

I'm fully OK with that !

Cross Gen?

... :(

I hope since Playground is ONLY working on the One version, they'll go all out. Forza Horizon was the most incredible looking game I've seen on the 360, I hope I can say the same about the Forza Horizon 2 on the One.
