Leaked Battlefield: Hardline gameplay

BF SP always shit. MP is where it at.

BFBC1 SP was VERY good.
BFBC2 was ok.

Every other one was complete shit.

This video kinda made me less hyped, looks a lot like A reskinned BF4, which it really shouldn't it.

I also just don't really like BF3/4's gun sounds and weapon play, something about it just doesn't appeal to me.

Bad Company campaigns were hot garbage. But, opinions are opinions.

Looks ok I guess. But as much as I like fps, I think I need a different kind of game now. I've been playing 'realistic fps' for a while and I'm getting bored.

Looks kind of funky, but I really want to play it. Kind of skeptical of Visceral when it comes to an online multiplayer game of Battlefield's size and scope, though. Don't think they have much experience in that regard. I have complete faith in the single player campaign though.

Either way, I'm really interested in seeing how this turns out.

I'm actually pretty ok with it just being a mod/reskin.

The more time they have to focus on gameplay the better.
Won't be picking it up at anywhere near full price though.

I'm done with this franchise until they actually do something new. This isn't new, it's a mod. Holding my breath for Battlefront after seeing this..

Visceral guys were pretty defensive about the first leak. Have they commented on this one? It would be hard to defend a game that looks like a re skin. I imagine whatever trailer they have for E3 will only showcase single player for some great money shots.

That shit with the parachuting cops is exactly what I was talking about in the other leak thread; sacrificing any authenticity to stay true to the battlefield formula and thereby undermining the whole point of distinguishing between a law enforcement game and a military game.

It would make the job of a transport helicopter that much more important if say, no one could parachute but players could slide down ropes (I forget the technical term for this) while a helicopter is still some way from the ground or a roof and deploy that way.

An unofficial beta has long load times?
The finished game will also have long load times. Maybe not three minutes, but, this is Battlefield.

At least before BF3 you got to listen to some swanky music. Now it's just all digital farts thumping your head into mush.
Looks like it should been a $20 expansion. After the BF4 debacle, releasing this is at the very least insulting. I love me some Battlefield but I'm definitely taking a wait and see approach on this one.
That's a bit presumptuous when we don't know how many maps there will be.
Man, I was really hyped for this. Was thinking it would be a little like PAYDAY 2 with some BF4 elements. This is literally BF4 with a baton... wtf.
I wasn't sure if I was going to like the more close quarters focus I assumed this would have but was hoping it'd take elements from ye olde tactical shooters and Payday 2 to create an interesting mix. I thought Visceral making this would have some impact on things. You know, expected a new spinoff, not an expansion.

But the new gear and modes will make it play differently to some extent, maybe enough to make it feel like you're paying for more than a bunch of new maps.

Some old leaked footage that was never intended to go public? I would hold back on the graphical analysis a tiny bit.

Doubt it's going to look better, BF4 also looked like BF3.

This and BF4 look like expansion packs to that game just with different HUDs.

It looks fun and it might be great, but I'm never buying a Battlefield game again on launch after the shitfest that was Battlefield 4 on PC. I still have a sour taste in my mouth.

Interested in the premise due to really missing games like SWAT and Rainbow 6. But this looks more of a reskin than a unique police shooter. Plus Battlefield single player is usually total shit and after the BF4 MP fiasco I won't jump in day one.

Also annualising Battlefield is not something I want to support

All though it does kinda look like a mod, I wouldn't say this. It's the same game engine of course but how much of a change can you do when they're still trying to keep within the Battlefield series.

It's just like saying each COD game is just a re-skin/mod even if by a different dev.

No it wouldn't. At all. I don't ever want Call of Duty in my Battlefield. That day ever comes, I'll stop playing. Is this really what GAF wants? It's hard to tell and it's hard to tell much of anything from 5 minutes of someone running around a map.

It's not what anyone wants, it was just a thought out of my head. However, I feel even a Call of Duty-esque title would be better than what simply appears to be a reskin.

Neither does every soldier have a regenerating parachute in real life. Getting rid of that would go a long way towards helping urban maps not be a fucking sniperfest.
Getting rid of the thing that allows for vertical movement would go some way towards making Battlefield less fun and dynamic as it would remove options and tactics.

I don't really see snipers being able to get on rooftops as being a problem. The problem is not being able to effectively counter that tactic. In many cases the only actual proper way of dealing with it is with a helicopter. So like, borrow a page from Watch Dogs and let players hack into building security, electrify the floor, blow up AC units, put those windowcleaning lift things on the sides of buildings, have Batman's grappling hook, jump pads, whatever.

Or bring back the MAV. Could blow up spawn beacons and push snipers off the buildings. Before they nerfed it you could roadkill them without the thing blowing up, it was great.

Oh it's still there. It's just with BF4's unlock system being shitty, it might as well not be. I'm an awful sniper, but I could do some good with the MAV. But first I need to be terrible and hate things until I amass 91k points. So that's a thing they could do; not lock away vital class gear. If Hardline does not do that that'd be swell.

The vehicles looked awkward to drive to me on that video. Maybe the footage made it look worse than it actually is.

I think the single player could be interesting in a cop drama kind of way. I agree with others that the multiplayer doe spooks close to Battlefield 3/4. A different art style to reflect this being a spin-off perhaps would have made it look more interesting initially.

The whole thing just feels wrong at some level.

"Civil servants" blasting through warzones and stacking bodies high. What is this, the third world version of cops?

It's a damn shame. There's no sense of police or SWAT-style tactics. No riot shields. No battering rams. No civilians to actually protect. No rappelling down buildings.

It would be fresh and interesting to explore these, but instead they went with the same military style, which makes putting it into a law enforcement setting look even more out of place.

- A completely new singleplayer campaign with a fresh and unique scenario. This is NOT something modders can just do.

- New multiplayer modes with a different tone compared to previous Battlefield games.

- New maps which are influenced by SP locations.
- I think you should really look up how big mods can be, e.g. for skyrim. Even Half-Life 1 got really amazing Campaigns through mods.
- New modes with new Maps and additional guns is enough stuff for a dlc, but not a new full-priced game
- Recycling every campaign asset for the multiplayer is just awful and not a good thing. There was a time when Shooter campaigns were unique and not just rushing through the multiplayer maps with scripted events.

Litterally no difference to battlefield 4. Same bland environments, vehicles and guns. God all the guns sound the same in battelfield. This has to be a mod.

I am going to try to not judge this game based on a small leak, but I hope they switch it up some. It looks like a reskin. With some good game modes it could be interesting though. Looking forward to seeing more.

Some think its just dlc for BF4 though, I guess we have to wait until E3 to find out.

Did you see the trailer that leaked out? It's SP/Co-op modes/competitive modes. It's just that mod has become the buzzword for the last few pages and is being echoed arouynd. No-one legitimately thinks this is actually an expansion pack.

The concept is cool, but I'm not impressed by any of the alleged leaked gameplay. This looks like a step down from bf4 in terms of movement, animation and most definitely the graphics department.

I agree with the majority.. This looks like a re-skin/mod.

Considering riot shields will be in the next BF4 expansion it doesn't rule out their inclusion in Hardline. And there are batons and tasers and grappling hooks if you believe the leaked information. I think there was talk of hostage rescue as well. Time will tell but any hopes I might have had about the police playing like you do in SWAT 4 have been more or less vapourised.

The thing is, even if you these things play as much part as I'd like the actual userbase will just play it like Battlefield anyway unless there's real inarguable incentives to capture the criminals alive with minimal civilian casualties and collateral damage.

Gonna be honest, it looks like a BF4 mod. I don't think this leaked stuff is helping their case at all.

E3 better show something that convinces people it's not a BF4 re-skinned into police vs criminals because after watching the beta gameplay, that's exactly what it looks like.

$60 mod 0_o after BF4 disaster I might get this title for $30 6 months from launch when they figure out their shitty rubber-banding servers

Based on the leaked trailer, I knew some elements of BF4 would be in Hardline, but wow, this is just a reskinned BF4 mod. I remember when stuff like this was made by the community and available for free.

Truth. If it's just this skinned BF4 multiplayer... it better be a lag free, spot on hit-detection version for me to throw my cash at it. And even that def not worth $60 or even $40. Who cares about SP?

Visceral to Include Battlefield YouTubers and Competitive Players in Hardline Development Process

Various Battlefield personalities within the competitive and YouTube communities are making clear their involvement in the development process of Visceral Games’ upcoming cops vs. criminals shooter, Battlefield Hardline.

Allegedly, they’re calling it EA’s “Game Changer” program, which, judging by tweets from participants, aims to utilize feedback from some of Battlefield’s most hardcore audience members to better shape the game as it marches closer to launch this Fall.

According to reports, it appears that a handful of these individuals took part in a recent play test of sorts at EA’s headquarters where they got some hands-on time with the game and supplied Visceral developers with valuable feedback.

Obviously, no one is giving out specifics as to what they saw or played, but you can get some insight by simply checking out some of the Twitter feeds we’ve included below:

I more than likely missed a few, but that should give you the gist of things.

It was recently confirmed that Visceral is, in fact, leading development on both multiplayer and single player for Battlefield Hardline, with collaboration from Battlefield veteran studio, Digital Illusions CE.

It’s cool to see EA get some of Battlefield’s most respected community members involved in the game’s development, and it’s likely also a way to make good with gamers still shaken up over Battlefield 4′s troubled launch.

Do you think this approach from EA will have a positive impact on final release?

Thoughts?

I'd post the tweets but I don't know how.

Yup. It's funny because we did a Black Hawk Down mod for BF1942 where we got rid of the parachutes and forced pilots to play it smart and it made the matches so much better and fit the scenario perfectly. We also worked on fast-roping and other modders got it working even though it wasn't perfect due to the engine limitations at the time yet that's the closest we'll get to it.

To me, putting this under the BF label and making it so damn similar is the biggest shame since I love cops vs. robbers games and there's a lot of unique scenarios and modes that would make it so much fun. Instead, we get the same gameplay a year after BF4 (or a few months after BF4 was playable...lol) instead of giving us something fresh and exciting.

I miss the mod community because it pushed the developers to do more too.
