NA PS Store Flash Sale (Dark Souls 2, Tales of Graces f, South Park, FFX/X-2, more)

coolasj19

Why are you reading my tag instead of the title of my post?
Alright, I'm eyeing down a few games.
Ni No Kuni is a big no because of it's obscene file size. I'd have to delete Dragon's Dogma, Demon Souls, Tomb Raider, and Tales of Xillia. No.

Atelier. I have Totori on Vita but I just have no motivation to play it beyond like 2 hours. Combat is pretty "Jam On X"-y. And the entire thing just kind of comes off as immature. Not to mention I don't like either the subs or the dubs and I you got me stuck with a $20 money sink that I'll probably never play. Is this one any different? The reviews say it's a good jumping in point and a complete overall improvement over the others.

And Tales Of Graces f. I have Xillia, but I am eternally cursed to not play more than 5 minutes at a time. I don't even know if I like it or not. Should I buy Graces f? Does it start off fast or something?

How long do flash sales typically last?
Friday.

What's the word on Mass Effect Trilogy? I own ME1 & 2 on PC (steam) but honestly I've never played them (well, I played a few hours of ME1 I think, I got to the Citadel perhaps?), the whole ME3 ending fiasco turned me off.

I loved KotOR, in case that helps in determining whether to suggest the games to me or not.

By the way, I'm assuming the trilogy includes ME1 (wasn't that Xbox 360 exclusive?), is this correct?

Yeah, they ported ME1 to PS3 just for the trilogy (though I think they released 1 as stand alone digital only) so it does have all 3 games.

ME trilogy is one of those things that's good... but once you invest as much time as you do with the first two parts, it's kind of a "no way it's ever going to live up to expectations" kind of deal. That said, each game refines the gameplay and some people liked it and others didn't.

It's great. I bought it because I wanted to play ME Trilogy with proper gamepad controls. It looks terrible compared to the PC version, but it is very serviceable and I found myself getting caught up in this wonderful universe all over again.

Does the PS3 version of ME2 come with all the DLC?

and Jeez 33 GB for Mass Effect and I imagine I'll need double that for the install...

Never noticed this but it looks like if you've never been a Plus member you can get a free 14 day trial? Under Playstation Plus>Free Games there's a banner for it. I already have Plus so I can't check it. Checking this from the PS3 store front.

Everything except Arrival.

Well, everything that is important. The bonus equipment packs are not included so you won't get stuff like the extra armors/equipments/weapons, but the game is very doable without them even in the highest difficulty.

Now, whether to buy Dark Souls 2 or not............... That Demon's Souls is also tempting... If I have to choose only one, which one should I pursue?

Most folks would say both, eh?

Demon's Souls is a must play in my book. There's lots of little touches that reflect a game designed specifically for the hardware...a "special experience" with suberb look, feel and gameplay.

Fucking Ni No Kuni though. Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeit, I've been wanting that for so long but... that physical copy. Goddamn this is torture.

Does anybody expect there to be an Atelier Escha & Logy + vita port at some point? If so, I will hold off on this and wait for it. Otherwise I'm pretty tempted.

I do, kind of, but if it does come it probably won't be until next September at the earliest. I think the general lead time for the Vita versions has been around a year and a half after the PS3 release in North America. Ayesha Plus was released recently in Japan but hasn't been announced in English yet.

And Tales Of Graces f. I have Xillia, but I am eternally cursed to not play more than 5 minutes at a time. I don't even know if I like it or not. Should I buy Graces f? Does it start off fast or something?

If you're playing Totori mainly for the combat, you're probably not going to enjoy it much. Escha & Logy is somewhat more complex but it's still basically straightforward turn-based combat. The real meat is in the alchemy--making better weapons, armor, bombs, healing items, etc. If this holds no interest for you, Escha & Logy probably won't either. It is, to be fair, more mature than Totori, so maybe that saves it for you, but from the sounds of it you probably won't enjoy it much.

For Graces f, I guess we'd have to know why you can't play more than five minutes of Xillia at a time. If it's the anime nature of the storyline, I don't think Graces f will sway you much. If it's the battle system, Graces f is supposed to be better than Xillia. I haven't played Xillia but I have played Vesperia, and though to me Graces f and Vesperia have roughly similar appeal when it comes to battle systems, Graces does allow for more complex high-level play and the fairly hard limitation of requiring TP to perform artes is replaced with a CC system that you replenish through chaining moves properly, so if you know what you're doing you can plow your way through the game and look/feel awesome doing it. (I am a scrub, so I was less enthused, but hey.)

Wow, Ni No Kuni, Dragon Age and Kingdoms of Amalur are an absolute STEAL at that prices. 3 AMAZING games that I can't recommend enough at $5 each? I'd be all over them if I didn't have all 3.

I might pick up the Mass Effect trilogy to keep my physical copy sealed. Atelier Escha seems like a good deal, too, but it'll drop to that price for the physical copy eventually. And I'll but the digital copy once it hits the Vita anyways.

Fucking Escha and Logy for $25? Eh well I was planning on trading off the game if I didn't end up liking it enough for a future replay...

I'd love to get ME, but is there any way I could download the three seperately? Because if not, there's no hope for me to buy this.

I have a sealed Ni No Kuno White Wizard's Edition from the Namco Bandai Ninostarter, I haven't checked the value of it since it was outragously priced back at launch. Maybe I should keep it sealed and buy the $5 PSN version?

What you think, GAF?

Sell it...
Or keep waiting for another 15-20yrs and hope that you hit the jackpot since it is still sealed.
It probably worth the investment due to Studio Ghibli involvement since they are the Japanese Disney.

But still buy the game though for $5 though just to experience it.

So I might get some mud thrown at me.

But I love Dark Souls and really like Dark Souls II on a mechanics level.

Would I be able to get into Demon's Souls?

I got grudge sucked!
How does Dragon Age compare to Mass Effect?

It'd be nice if it was Mass Effect with Swords and Dragons.

More akin to Knights of the Old Republic than Mass Effect. Its a good game and worth $5 easy

You'll feel right at home and its worth $99.99 so you are getting a steal. There are differences, DeS feels a little faster, especially on rolls and certain weapons, all of the base mechanics are the same. It has a bit of a rougher start than either DS games.

Demon's Souls tempts me, but I didn't really like Dark Souls, and I am terrible at it. I know I shouldn't grab it, but still...

I couldn't really get into Ni no Kuni whenever it first came out and I ended up selling my copy to get Metal Gear Rising, but for five bucks, I don't mind trying it again

Isn't that retail?

I might not bite on Ni No Kuni - it is 21 gb download. I only have a 40gb PS3...ugh.

Can't you buy it and download the game when you have more space?
Thanks for the link OP, tempted to buy DS2.

I've been sitting on 5 dollars worth of credit for about 2 years after finding out about it on a thread here. Well worth the wait. I got Ni No Kuni for free basically. Awesome deal.
