I'm about 30 minutes into Capsule (dev says it's about two hours long)
Mechanically and artistically, Capsule is very minimal. The only controls are for thrust and sending out a pulse that identifies objects in range. The only visual is your lo-fi radar screen.

But Capsule isn't about complex mechanics or stunning graphics. It excels on another level and that is immersion and tension. Many of the other reviews out there have said that as well and it's absolutely true. From the start, you're immersed in the limited claustrophobic view, the smudged flickering screen your only connection with the environment. You feel as if any moment the screen's going to go dark, your vessel barely hanging on by a thread. But the audio brings everything together. Playing Capsule in the dark and with headphones is a must. Your labored gasping breaths. The scrambled radio signals fading in and out across the expanse (of space? the ocean depths?). The muted rumbling when you collide with debris. In terms of crafting a tangible tense gripping atmosphere through audio and sound alone, Capsule is masterful

Gameplay-wise, Capsule is simple yet tense and not easy. It's a balancing act between exploration and desperation. Fuel and oxygen are your two resources and you need both to explore further and reach each new destination. As the distance between locations increase and new dangers emerge, managing that balance becomes increasingly challenging. Failure isn't a game over screen; it's being dead in the water, gasping your final breaths as your screen dims and fogs up.

An enigmatic story unfolds as you traverse the lonely expanse. Told through logs, messages, and emails, each new destination reveals more of the narrative, also acting as checkpoints and refilling your fuel and oxygen.

Capsule is a minimalist experience that absolutely delivers and I'd recommend the game for its tense gameplay, fantastic atmosphere, and immersive soundscape

It would seem they have a free play week in place for it along with the huge discount. And apparently the best thing they can say about it is that once again they are going to replace it with a new version with a new name.

Capsule sounds brilliant. I love a game that works to keep you in the experience as much as possible and never leave it, not even with a game over.

Is it a type of game to use a good set of headphones for or speakers?

On his site, the developer recommended playing in the dark and with headphones and so far I have to agree. I haven't played without headphones yet, so I can't really say how it is with speakers

I really hope they don't put the DLC content somewhere behind the four Lord Souls.

Hmm. I don't think I have a preference of where, just didn't want to already be in NG++ to tackle it.

Well, plus that NG++ character will still be there is I do decide to. Plus plus it's almost like a different game with a sorc :)

How is DMC4 on Steam? 60FPS consistent, good graphics options?

Considered to be an amazing port, in fact Dr Dog was running it at 8K/60 FPS a few pages back.

I wish developers would go back and update their older games with achievements/trading cards.

I knew when those capcom guys slipped and called it a "holiday exclusive"

Woah last DR game I played was DR2 but if this has a more faster paced I'll def. get it...maybe even day 1 lol.

NOW GIMME KILLER INSTINCT DAMNIT!

GREAT review. Worth $4, you think? I might go crazy and splurge on this and 8-Bit Commando.

Has anyone here actually played 8-Bit Commando? Is it as good as it looks?
Haven't played 8-Bit Commando, so I can't help there

As for Capsule, I'm the kind of gamer who values an immersive experience or a great atmosphere, even if other areas of a game are lacking. Capsule isn't the most complex game out there, and it probably isn't for everyone, but it's certainly achieves those things. So I do think it's worth $4

Thanks. Can you go into more detail? What don't you like?

Hit a heap of bugs, like not being able to start the game (without trying different settings), sound not working and problems with the controller.

Once in the game, it isn't much fun. The graphics are nice for the style, but that is about it. Everything feels unresponsive, hitboxes are off and I found it a lot more frustrating than fun.

Apparently it is also very short, but I didn't feel the urge to go that deep into it.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
CAN I HAVE THE COUPON PLEASE!

Sorry man, I used it to buy the game. That being said, it feels weird that I spent less money leveling up than I saved from the coupons, but I suppose that's how they want you to feel when all you're really doing is spending money on games.

No worries mate, but man that was a wicked stroke of luck. Enjoy AoM =D

You make a very persuasive argument. Is it ever super frustrating?

Yuck! Sounds like a train-wreck. What a shame. I guess I'll wait for a patch and/or another bundle.

Oh. Strange. Now:

It ran fine for me, but it was just like a mediocre NES game. Maybe that's what they were going for, but aesthetic doesn't make up for blandness and annoyance. Especially a really mediocre aesthetic. And clearly no one reminded them that basically everyone used the 30 lives code for Contra, because the first pit I fell down was met with "Game Over." I played through the first boss and uninstalled, I guess the 15 cents I made from Playfire was worth the 7 minutes.

I'm only about 30-40 minutes in but so far, no. While there is a sense of being lost, you always have a heading towards the next location and if you die, you simply start at the last area you reached. It's more about the journey than about finding the path, if that makes sense

I wouldn't say frustrating (yet), just tense. Like you're low on oxygen and your breathing's getting more labored and each pulse just reveals useless debris or worse, some kind of hazard.

Just dropping it to say that I'm really enjoying The Fall and would recommend it to people who like adventure games. The shooting is very basic which is fine because it only seems to be there to break up the puzzling (I haven't died once).

EDIT:
Hope this works.

Thanks for the zombie MOBA!

He's a pretty swell guy in my books anyway.
YOU GUYS!
WHAT IF THAT PANZER DRAGOON-ISH GAME ON XB1 GETS A PC RELEASE?!

Even if MS randomly decided to do this, there's nobody to port it.

First party. I think that's highly unlikely... it's like...

What if Uncharted collection and God of War collection and Demon's Souls get PC releases? :p

It's not quite the same, it would just be Windows exclusive. It's just so incredibly unlikely that it's still safe to say it won't happen.

Serious Sam is a wicked gahbidge series for chowdaheads.

It's more likely than that. Microsoft still operates the OS that runs the vast majority of PC games and has an interest, no matter how small, in keeping a dedicated fanbase on the OS.

I'm not saying it's happening, it's just more likely and less weird than a Sony property.

We better get a fucking Jet Set Radio Future PC announcement at E3.

Or else I'll start my account over and this time not buy any Sega games.

That'll show 'em.

I would buy Jet Set Radio Future on Steam at least five times. I just love it that much and would share it with others.

Are you refering to Douche Ex The Fall?

Fine, fine. Put it in the same camp as Sega managing to get Bayonetta 2 on PC then. :p
