The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt - E3 2014 Trailer - The Sword Of Destiny

Really happy for CDP Red, everyone should try and get it on GOG if they can, get more money to them. Clearly the amazing trailer timed with preorder and E3 coming is a wonderful combo.

Yeah, I just wanna emphasize this. Get this on GOG and CDPR will receive 100% the money, Steam version will only give them 70%.

Plus you have tons of goodies from GOG. SO get it from there people.

Another trailer with way too much story and not enough gameplay. That said, this is the first time this game has caught my attention, so I will keep an eye on it.

The game sure has gotten a graphical overhaul since e3

Most notably the horrible sharpening filter is gone.

The thing im still most interested in is how they handle the open world. These games have always had beautiful highly detailed locations that were only semi-open. How you maintain that and keep it open is gonna be amazing if they can pull it off.

Do we know how they're going to handle characters that may or may not have died this time around? I assume they just won't show up
The most reasonable guess is the Bioware approach: they will have some minor cameo if they survived or some random NPC filling their role if they didn't.

If I pre-order at Steam, will I get a backup on GOG?
Not confirmed yet, but chances are you would. That's what they did with the previous ones.
...And it's something I complained about in the past:

"Dear CDPR, I'm really willing to give money directly to you, so why don't you try to make buying on Gog more appealing, offering a Steam key if we buy from your store, instead of doing the opposite and rewarding people who buy on Steam with a copy of your games on GoG?
It's like you guys are actively encouraging people to buy on Steam.

Well the poster I quoted said the crow is "claiming" the eyes of that Nilfgardian so I thought that he thought that this may be Philippa's way of overcoming her hmmm shortages in the eye department after one of W2 endings.

haha yeah.I was just curious about the process of acquiring eyes in the witcher verse as I haven't read the books. You take it out of someone or grow out new ones ?

This is why I kinda wanna chill and wait before I get it on GOG. I know they think they are being consumer-friendly by doing that type of stuff, but it just devalues my purchase and makes me not want to support them directly.

You can't order console copies from GOG, can you?

No, it's for PC only.

Well I think they won't offer GoG backup for Steam users this time around. They needed publication for TW1 and 2, which they have now had.

Also if you only give them 70% of their money because you want to have all your games on Steam, well it won't be fair if you can have all the DRM free version and all the goodies now, aint it?

That said, I don't want them to give me a Steam key because I bought their GoG version as well because that will mean loss on their side. And I don't want that, I want them to have all the money in the world and use them to keep putting out awesome games. Goddamn it give me Cyberpunk naoooo.

Yes, since CD Projekt Red and GoG are one and the same. GoG is a subsidiary of CD Projekt

This is directly from the pre-order site on GOG:

Support us directly:
GOG.com and CD Projekt RED are part of one family, so pre-ordering here is the only way to support us directly.

Cool.

Is this a serious question?

Anyway, with both games registered on gog I'm getting 35 euros, incredible deal.

Why, yes. I didn't know how the two companies were linked. If both were run as separate companies, it would have been highly possible the devs see the same revenue from both sources.

If I recall correctly, the only such case in books involved
growing it back through some magic hijinks.

Time I played Witcher 2. Its been sitting on computer and have yet to play it. One thing - I wasn't the biggest fan of The Witcher's combat system. How is it in 2?

I know CD Prokekt Red made a statement some time back about having no plans to bring Witcher 2 to PS3, but is it possible to see a PS4/X1 (I know Withcer 2 released on 360) re-master this year? I am interested in playing 3 and haven't played the first two, but regardless, I just find it strange for them to release the third game in a franchise and seemingly not address the fact.

As far as I know, it has never been done before; a franchise 3 games in being released on a new platform like this. From what I understand, the first two are pretty relevant to the understanding of the third, and I even read something about a thousand possible end states based on your actions/decisions in the first two. Correct me if I'm wrong

I sorta wish Witcher 3 Geralt had the crazy ponytail physics that pre-release Witcher 2 had. It really gave him character, flaunting physics like that.

I imagine they would have announced at their conference yesterday if they were doing that. They're a pretty small studio and last time they tried to 'remaster' one of their games it almost bankrupted them.

It's not because "I want to have all games on Steam", it's because if I buy on Steam i can activate the game on both stores and if I buy on GoG I won't.
For the record I bought TW1 and 2 on GoG, so far... And frankly they made me sort-of regret that.

That said, I don't want them to give me a Steam key because I bought their GoG version as well because that will mean loss on their side. And I don't want that
No, it wouldn't, and that's precisely the point of my complaint.
They can generate as many Steam keys for their games as they want without being charged a single dollar from Valve.

Wow, crazy Steam pricing there, 32% discount, while the GoG discount is 22% for me.

Depends on what games of the series you've already got + GoG gives you money to spend on their site if the game is more expensive in your country's currency.

Yeah Steam discount is better on my end as well. Probably going to order from there to complete the trilogy there as well as probably get a free gog code down the line like they did with tw2.

I can't believe for how cheap they're selling the game. I mean, they could sell it for 10$ more and I bet it would still get as many pre-orders, crazy.

Steam price for Russia isn't cheap at all (30 USD which is ~25% more than the usual price of AAA game in Steam here). GOG price is fine but they don't allow you to pay with credit card for some reason. I'll end up buying them both anyway.

Isn't that masked guy on the boat (with Geralt, Yennefer and Triss) someone like this?

Tw2_journal_Operator.png

the guardian of ancient vran - the Vran race : The vrans are a humanoid race with red, ruby red eyes that take up half of their faces.

Just picked it up. 20% off on Steam at $47.99 by having the other 2 games in my account.

I almost feel bad picking it up at a discount since CDPR is such a stand up developer.

It's a bit weird though, as I have W1 on Steam and W2 on GoG, and I wasn't able to backup W1 on GoG, so 1 game on each service.

Does any one know how much does the Polish physical version of the game costs? I'll by moving there from Spain for a few moths soon and maybe I'll wait to get it there.

The foliage is gorgeous, but the trees in the 2nd shot have a weird lattice of 2D planes. Kind of jarring, but I guess complex 3D model's for tree's would be ridiculously expensive on the hardware.

Contact CDP at free_backup@cdprojektred.com and you can get a key that will work on the GOG backup page.

Since I was gifted a copy of my W1, I had to take a screenshot of the game in my library together with the options menu in steam showing my contact email.

Taken from the email I got from them a few days ago.
Send me a screenshot of The Witcher visible in your Steam Library along with View -> Settings window with your "Contact Email" visible in the screenshot so I can ascertain you are the owner of that account.

Steam discount and GOG discount are identical for me. I'm honestly still thinking about getting a physical version though just because I don't like downloading what's probably going to be a 30+GB game.

Signed, me too.
I bought all three games on GOG (and CEs in retail) and I also really wish they gave optional steam keys to these games. I want them on steam too, so I had to buy them on sale later. It would make sense to offer it two way street like.

I sure hope not.
It's not like anyone can fill the roles of those characters, they're too important and unique to get that kind of treatment, them being dead or alive needs to have bigger ramifications.

Haha just saw an article about a twitter exchange regarding this matter here: http://www.onlysp.com/cd-projekt-red-currently-plans-bring-first-two-witcher-games-ps4xbox-one/

They said Sorry. No such plans for now.

I suppose we can take that at face value, but why would they announce it two days before E3 media day? I imagine they would announce it then. But maybe that's just me being hopeful. But again, regardless of my desire to play them, and not having a gaming pc, they are kinda making it a hard sell for PS4 owners who have not played the previous two.

Bah! We'll find out Monday or by the end of next week methinks.

But that's precisely my point: I seriously doubt that any character that could eventually be dead in someone's playthrough will ever have any major role in the sequel.

The ramifications of those decisions and those character's lives are mostly contained to regions that are not a part of this game.

I have faith that CDPR can do better than that. If you only played TW2 once you missed a third of the game. The fact that some players might miss stuff doesn't seem to bother them too much.
Those choices are made at the very end of TW2 when they don't make a difference anymore, I think they were there to influence the events of the third game, otherwise they would be pretty damn pointless.

I'm not saying that they will have a significant impact on the main story, but reducing them to a single line of dialogue like bioware did would be pretty damn disappointing.
