Jesus those animations... reminds me of the demon boar in Mononoke, at the start of the movie.
Yes, it looks stunning! I don't get the hate for this, it looks almost hand drawn! Amazing!

This honestly looks to be the Zelda game I've always wanted.

I was always more interested in the more cartoony-expressive art style in Wind Waker, that was one of the most captivating elements of the series in my eyes. I never expected them to go back to the general characters and setting but this style is legitimately awe-inspiring and they also made Link (in my opinion) look good. Like, legitimately. I'm swooning.

And oh my god the game world. I'm glad that Nintendo acknowledges the attempt to create a bigger and more immersive adventure field.

I am so excited.

Couldn't be happier with the art style. Looks like the evolution of Skyward Sword in ways. My friends are all super impressed as well.

This is live everything I've ever wanted from Zelda. YES

But that can't be actual gameplay, can it? How can it look so good? I mean WWHD looked good but it had a lot fewer details. Unless the art style is masking technical flaws somehow?

Either way this is going to be incredible

Arkham Knight impressed me last night, but dude, this is #1 for me. Looks amazing, gave me chills, and I am so there on day one.

I don't know I know there has been lasers in zelda before, but this seems different. The way the arrow is animated and the look of it screams futuristic. I would have no problem with it as the farthest zelda games went with tech is trains. It would be nice to get a game that is not a prequel again :/ Maybe in the timeline this takes place centuries after spirit tracks.

Seems more like magic with minor simple tech than anything else

Lasers have been in Zelda universe since forever too

I don't doubt they're very close to what the final game will look like. Nintendo developers are master at using great art styles to mask any potential technical limitations that the hardware might have.

Looks great. I hope the actual game looks this good.

It's probably significant that they showcased a bow instead of a sword. I hope it's her main item

I can't wait to see what Link's green tunic looks like in this. Also for a world like this we need a weather and day/night system. Hopefully the weather system kinda changes the colors of the world depending on what it's doing. Finally, I'm worried it might share the same problems as ALBW, but we'll just have to wait and see.

Hot fucking damn that looks nice.

I need to catch up on the game I missed the conference, but I hope all the hand holding and limited exploration is gone.

Well hot damn that was amazing looking. Sad that they only showed that glimpse.
Have any high res press shots gone online yet?

I didn't like Skyward Sword at all because of the controls. I'm 100% ready to get back to not trying to accurately swing a wiimote like the retarded monkeyman that I am.

Didn't like TP all that much. Loved wind waker when I was younger, and this gives me the best of both worlds. What's with all the hate?

Style reminds me of that cartooney prince of persia reboot, but better.

I guess all that hoping for something that looked like the first Wii U demo was for moot, but it does still look good in a different way.

because our sex and gender is a huge part of who we are as people.

I agree. I wouldn't even care if we played as as girl, just don't make it Link then.

I like my characters to be characters. I like how each Link is similar, each Impa, each Ganon, etc.

So yeah, I would be annoyed if the next Ganon was blond and pale and short and fat.
I'd be annoyed if the next Zelda was a boy and a lazy slob or something and so on.

They're "reincarnations" with some differences but they're essentially the same character. (i.e. Link starting out the game as lazy, sleeping in, slacking but springing into action and determination when called upon.)

My friend raised an interesting point to me about Link's dominant hand, basically the bow action shown would mean Link is right-handed in this game.

Eh. The arrow didn't look any more futuristic than the Dominion Rod statues in Twilight Princess or the Tower of the Gods in the Wind Waker.

No it's not.

In fact, considering that his quest in previous games is saving Zelda solidifies it even more. It's part of this formula.

so it being some dated chauvinistic chivalry fantasy is more important to you than mixing things up a little

ok

like link couldnt save the princess if she was a girl, or couldnt be in love with zelda if she was a girl

i literally am weeping for you irl, how does one cope?

So... animations for items means it's futuristic? I don't get what you're saying... Nothing about this screams "futuristic". It looks like standard LoZ magic stuff.
Bombchus are "futuristic" than what was shown!

I just watched the trailer again and goddamn it looks good. I cannot wait to see how they've implemented all the Zelda mechanics into a huge world that you can explore however you want. I know the first game did this, but now the series has evolved so much it'll be great to go back in this direction. I also feel like now that we have the fully open world it'll be hard to go back. This is how it should be from now on.

Liked everything except Link's design, he looks too young. I want a more mature and physically imposing Link

I thought as you did, but I'm loving how vibrant and scrappy this new Link is looking.

No it's not.

So a female can't save a princess? It's saving Zelda, not having babies with her. Join us in the 21st century.

The press screenshots are 1080p.

Could this game be 1080p native?

Holy crap this art style will SHINE if it's the case.

Wouldn't even care if it's 30 fps because of it.

Though 720p 60 fps would be insane too. :)

My bet is on 720p30

Did not like wind waker or skyward sword art style but really liking this. Not sure girly Link is to my liking. At first I thought it was Zelda...

I noticed the same thing right away - I really hope it's 1080p/30fps with AA. Looks nice.
