That already happened, Twilight´s Link is an Ocarina remastered Link.

I think he meant with the vibrant colours from this Zelda U. In that case I agree with him. I loved TP, especially due to its dungeons and Midna. But I really loathed the art, it just looked washed-out. I almost go as far as to say it "tried to hard" to be dark. But TP is by far my favourite Zelda in terms of dungeons. Other aspects not so very much

Yes. Why do people feel the need to take away and reverse basic traits of a character like Link...

Uhhhh, you've seen all the iterations that Link has been through, right? He can't hold on to a single look for more than 3 years lol. Which isn't a bad thing to me at all. Games like LoZ deserve different interpretations of their starring characters

Edit: I hope Link is a girl or just super super androgynous. Gamer nerds will be so confused, it'll be amazing.

I, really didn't feel anything watching this trailer. I've loved the 3D series for a long time and I'm sorta apathetic regarding the art style for this. The bloom is way too heavy, I've always viewed the Zelda series as a classic fantasy tale with dark overtones. This art style is giving off fairy tale vibes. Everything is way too bright in general.

As for gameplay, well, we'll see soon I guess.

It bears mentioning: Go look at Skyward Sword at E3 2010 and then E3 2011 or 3D World at E3 and release.

Visuals are always last to be polished for Nintendo games and that already looks pretty fucking amazing. Haven't been this hyped since 2004 :)

Remind me if you'd like? Genuine question, because YouTube doesn't work here at the moment..

And is it just the style of the game that's holding you back from potentially enjoying it? That's even more inane!

It's not inane. Art style is extremely important, art style is key.

It just baffles me that someone would write off art style as insignificant.

Never been too much of a zelda fan, but this game looks seriously incredible.

While is a bit of a shame the "2015" part, there's/will be plenty of stuff to keep me occupied till then ... (ejmmm .... MK8, ... then Bayo2, then more MK8 ... SSB, Xeno )

So glad I recently got a Wii U! Sure this isn't out for another year or so, but at least the system is mine.

Is there suppose to be a roundtable with this game today?

Love Link's design, love the art style and I loved the action scene. Also, did he mean with 'you can go to the far mountains in the distance' that it is open world like Skyrim? :O
This is head to head with Cyberpunk 2077 and Batman Arham Knight on my hype meter.

I'm loving the character design. King of a mesh between "Link to the Past" Link and the other 3D Zelda games.

Skyward Sword E3 2010 had gameplay, this doesn't.

He has always been human, he has always been a boy, those are basic traits. I don't want to see that changed.

This new Link is perfect.

because our sex and gender is a huge part of who we are as people.

Thanks for saying this.

The idea of this being in 1080p wouldn't surprise me, WWHD was 1080p 30 fps and this seems to share a similar, but not exact art style. I'm wondering if it'll be 60 fps or not considering earlier comments about 60 fps not being a priority in future Zelda games

I still can't believe this is the new Zelda. I had lost a lot of faith in Aonuma and he has totally redeemed himself!

but we havnt played the game yet, it could have only three dungeons for all we know.

Almost every Zelda game that's come out in the past 16 years has been very different from OoT.
They borrow a lot of elements, but they also add in a lot of their own(Even TP does this to some extent)
That's true lmao I even forgot about MM which was a direct sequel.

By the way, after seeing this I now only have one wish for Zelda U: please don't be piss easy (in terms of dungeons and somewhat combat), please don't, please don't. This could very well turn out to be my favourite Zelda since OOT, and maybe even the best game ever for me after OOT. But of course it's way too soon. But this looks delicious

The amount of posts regarding "Link looks like a girl" and "why isn't Link a girl" makes me think half the people in this thread haven't seen an anime recently, or actually much of the male species. You people do realize that people don't always cleanly break into sexual dichotomies, right? That boys can look "pretty" while still having masculine features?

As someone said before, a lot of confused penises in this thread. It's okay to like pretty, androgynous boys, male or female.

Yeah, I'm wondering if those thinking it's a girl because he "looks feminine" have ever actually seen Link before. He has almost always looked very androgynous; Link has never looked like a bastion of masculinity. I mean, hey, if it is a girl, then great. But it looks a lot like Link. And you'd think if Nintendo were to make Link female this time around, they'd put a little more effort into doing so than just adding a ponytail.

Either way, the game looks fantastic - can't wait to see it in motion. (*meaning actual gameplay)

I don't know, Link has always very much looked like a boy but here it's pushing more into feminine territory than usual.

Wind Waker HD was 720p.

Edit: Nope, you're right, 1080p.

Link looks more feminine than ever to the point that I just wish it was a female hero, and that's not something I've ever really cared about. Weird. I like the new attire though, and I want the hooded cloak to be a real part of the design, not there just to be tossed in that "cool" anime style before a fight.

The lack of a real trailer is frustrating, but I hope they can make the open world world work and have the animations look as fluid and smooth as that glimpse did. Zelda games have always been a bit stiff.

With just this little snippet of gameplay and the direct allusions to two of the games that best embodied what I love about Zelda, I went from "cool Zelda's going to be at E3" to finding things to sacrifice for large amounts of time to pass between now and this game's release.

Jesus Christ looking at the visuals as a whole is just HNNNNNNGGGG

my god your cataracts

Satch going INNNN. :lol

The press screenshots are 1080p.

Could this game be 1080p native?

Holy crap this art style will SHINE if it's the case.

Wouldn't even care if it's 30 fps because of it.

Though 720p 60 fps would be insane too. :)

So....the same as always?
Yeah, they'll get really confused with nothing changing. ;)

Can save a lot of polys with the cel shading they are doing.

This looks more like moving stone-magic or something along those lines, not straight up "futuristic" technology.

I don't know I know there has been lasers in zelda before, but this seems different. The way the arrow is animated and the look of it screams futuristic. I would have no problem with it as the farthest zelda games went with tech is trains. It would be nice to get a game that is not a prequel again :/ Maybe in the timeline this takes place centuries after spirit tracks.

Wow, the art style is plain amazing. One of the few times i've ever been actually awed by how a game looks, I love everything about the art style.

I kinda like the new Link look, i prefer the blue to the regular green. I don't think he looks like a girl, though i could be wrong. I think it's unlikely that they'd suddenly change the sex of the main character after so long, that doesn't happen often in games.

Judging from WW, it'll be 1080p and 30fps (with slight fps drops when too many bombs are exlpoding)

While I would have been alright with the tech demo art style, I have no regrets seeing this. In a sense I'm kind of glad Nintendo is sticking to their guns on highlighting the fantastical aspect of Zelda. The degree to which they appear to have jumped straight into open world is also surprising.
