What I got.

*sigh*

At first it we had a dead looking toy, now it's a living cartoon. Consider that an upgrade!

Haha. Man. It didn't even occur to me until this thread that anyone would have an issue with how Zelda looks.

I was there for the original Wind Waker reveal...and I thought it was fantastic at the time. This reveal...it looks so gorgeous.

This response is really reminding me of the reaction Wind Waker received when it was first revealed. So whoever is upset that this doesn't look like the tech demo can rest easy that history repeats itself and the Zelda after this will be more realistic/darker just like Twilight Princess.

I thought the tech demo looked great as well, but this new art style is blowing my mind at how gorgeous it is. I couldn't be happier with how the world and even Link looks.

Ya'll crazy. Look at that gif right before Link fires the arrow, that's a very masculine face.

I don't want Link to be female. Just as I don't want Zelda to be male, Samus to be male, or Mario to be female.

Looks fantastic!

Only this and the just announced FF Type-0 HD announcement has made me go "holy f***" this year.

And Pikmin 3 had an output of 1080p while rendering in 720p. The resolution of press screenshots is entirely irrelevant.

Not entirely irrelevant - merely curious until we have confirmation. The world isn't black or white and besides, this isn't Ubisoft we are talking about ...

I haven't got a Wii U yet, but once this is released I am on board. I'm holding out for the inevitable release bundle with system.

I honestly thought that even with a new Zelda game I would be able to skip buying a Wii U, but for me, this is truly a killer app.

Well done yet again Nintendo.

It's a padded shirt and further obscured by a strap. There's nothing I see here that precludes there being any breasts at all. In fact, I do see some small indication of what could be breasts.

If I'm right, then clearly she's not a large breasted link, but who would have expected that anyway?

No, you're dreaming. There's no bewbs. You see bewbs because you want to see bewbs. Stop thinking about bewbs.

Nintendo has always said that Link was merely an avatar and was a "link" between the player and the world. I could see them taking a more literal approach with that idea.

I'm not suggesting full blown, TES-like character creation. Like in Pokemon, let me change the skin tone and sex of my character. Allow players to make Link something other than white. Make him a her if you want. It would be progressive, empowering and be a much richer realization of the creative philosophy behind the series. Link is more than just a blond haired kid in a green tunic. It's about an unlikely hero, exploring the world and overcoming evil with immense courage.

I'm glad that they didn't do a hd of twilight princess.
THankfull that they came with something unique visual impressive all above limits

This game looks amazing. I'd like to someday see a Zelda with an art style closer to the Wii U tech demo, but what we got looks fantastic in its own right. This is the first Zelda I've been hyped for since Twilight Princess.

As for this 'is Link a girl?' debate. I don't think he is, but it'd be really cool if they did go in that direction. A female Link would be interesting to see.

Tech demo looks lifeless, and merely a serviceable representation of Zelda, one which I already got from Twilight Princess.

Today's footage turns it from this into an experience that people will get lost in. The animation adds so much character, and that kind of exaggeration looks so much better in this kind of style.

I didn't think I wanted more Zelda in this kind of style until I saw it. I don't fully understand why it works, but I am completely sold on this aesthetic.

OK. Now I am completely on board!

.thos two gifs perfectly capture exactly what's wrong with realistic Zelda, so lifeless. Nintendo has some amazing animators so why limit them with a realistic focus?

Yeah but it doesn't really look like this. I don't have a problem with a painted look but I am not a huge fan of cartoon look.

Wow!! That looked soooo good! Now this is a game I would buy a Wii U for.

Too bad it will most likely be a late 2015 title. 1,5 year... sigh.

I'm just glad it's colorful.

That plus the cartoony artstyle is why Nintendo games have looked amazing on "dated" technology.

I wasnt there for the huge Cellda controversy, but this must be how it was, although worse

You have no idea. People thought that resolution gate, the Sim City debacle, and Xbox 180 were big deals? Celda felt like the Internet was literally on fire, I remember there being exactly one or two people who were not in all out panic mode.

I won't pretend I wasn't one of the critics during the initial reveal....but as development progressed it grew on me, and now I love the Wind Waker style. I see this as a continuation of Skyward Sword's art style, which itself was a bit of an evolution from Wind Waker.

I understand people are only basing their opinion on what was shown. But for one we didn't get a good straight up look of what he looked like with the cloak before he tossed if off, and two who's to say you can't customize the armor/clothing at all yet. I highly highly doubt you'll be running around the whole game looking like he does in the air with the bow.

I've got to say I'm worried that this 'open world, go anywhere, do anything you want at any time' approach will have an effect on dungeons and puzzles, I wonder how they will handle game progression and how you get new items. ALBW was a bit too simple in that regard, I want more complexity from a console Zelda.
