The Legend of Zelda Wii-U Shown at Nintendo Digital Event ["2015"]

Heshinsi

"playing" dumb? unpossible
The minute this is out, I'm buying a Wii-U. A bundle would be rad. This is my dream Zelda game. Open world? HHHNNNNGGGG!

You know, now that I'm looking more carefully that's an awful lot like OoT's Hyrule field. Ruins to the left look like Lon Lon Ranch, the forest path in the trailer is roughly where the entrance to Kokiri would be, Death Mountain has no ring but appears in roughly the same spot, the overhanging cliff that looks like it has a village on top is reminiscent of the overhang near the path towards Zora's domain, etc. It's not dead on, but the rough geography and major landmarks seem similarly placed.

Yeah, you're not the first to point it out, but you're right. Everything's roughly in the right direction, including a lake to the left (south?). I suppose there should be a desert past the mountains in the distance, then, as well. Can't wait to see it all!

Me too. After the 2009 artwork especially. But this. Seeing it appear behind Aonuma was the best moment of E3 so far for me
I had tears running down my face. I haven't had an emotional reaction to a Zelda reveal since E3 2004. Remember this thread I made? I made that before ALBW, and in that game, Aonuma did what I wanted with nonlinear dungeons. Now it looks like he's giving me the huge puzzle-filled open world I wanted, as well. :)

I thought the reveal for Skyward Sword was completely lacklustre and generic looking, but this on the other hand....

To each his own.
I thought it looked great, but they should have just showed a big teaser trailer and left it at that.
The technical difficulties they were experiencing were a real bummer.

you're idea with the towns would make me so happy. i'd kill for even just a little bit of the MM philosophy towards NPCs to leak into the new Zelda

My only concern is that this is the whole map of the game....

But when you consider other factors like dungeons, towns and possible change of terrain of hyrule fields and other weather effects they might implement, I think it will be plenty. Id rather have a little smaller world thats alive than a really big one that's completely barren.

Skyward sword was generic looking?

Ok mate.

lol
I was going to make a snarky reply like this, but I didn't think it would be wise.

Yeah, Skyward Sword was anything but generic looking.
That game looked pretty, and the art direction shocked people.
We all thought it was going to look like a souped up TP(Thanks to that one piece of concept art), but we got this awesome looking impressionist style Zelda instead.
There were definitely some detractors("Look at the trees! The leaves look weird! Grehaldkfja;lskdjf;!"), but I remember the majority of people being very hyped in 2010.
The only part of the reveal that they screwed up was the demo, but they really couldn't help that.
Tbh, SS had a much more substantial reveal in 2010.
All we know about the new Zelda is that it's pretty, and it'll satisfy people who want Zelda to be a Skyrim clone with boring puzzles.
:p

So anyone still optimistic about some Treehouse time.
I will keep believing to the end, no matter what I try to tell myself.

I really hope Nintendo reveals more gameplay and details about Zelda on the TGS14

They WILL definately show Zelda on the Treehouse, how can anyone doubt that? There are so many reasons for it.

1. It's a 2015 game, many 2015 game were shown on this event
2. Skyward Sword was revealed in 2010 and had a demo too, arrived in late 2011 (just like now 2014->2015)
3. Reggie said the game is far in development
4. Treehouse is about showing "newly announced games" It's a big event and Zelda U is their biggest title.
5. Aonuma is there, he doesn't fly to E3 for a game he didn't even made.
6. The reveal was too short for a 2015 game. It's very likely that they want to focus on their Treehouse event, "going in-depth" with the title.

Just think about it. They will show it today, I'm 100% sure.

Really do hope we see more. Lots of impressive stuff shown at E3 but Zelda is of course my most anticipated game right now and I'm already super anxious to see more.

I don't know bro.
I don't think you should get your hopes up.
I'll happily eat crow if they give us new info on the Nintendo stream today or on Friday, but that doesn't look likely to me.
Zelda would've probably been one of the first things they showed if they brought a playable demo.

Friday? I thought today Treehouse ends? There is no stream on friday.

"Zelda would've probably been one of the first things they showed if they brought a playable demo."

Hmm, nah. I think they will show the best at the end ;)

My mistake.
They still ain't showing it though.

Edit: I'm tellin' ya bro, I don't want them to break your heart! :(

I personally doubt we will see a Zelda demo on the Treehouse stream due to how little they showed in the Digital Event. I would definitely love it though.

Don't get your hopes up... We haven't seen anything from SMTxFE since its reveal and its has been a year.

The layout of the world seems like a continuation of the SS principle, where you have something interesting to see and do every step of the way. But they included things from earlier Zelda's such as the vasteness of the world and, of course, making it more open world.

It looks fantastic!

I think it is pretty obvious why they have not shown more of Zelda and probably won't today, they are making an obvious push for splatoon as a new IP and don't want it (and other games) overshadowed. They didn't want to piss people off by showing nothing (a la last guardian), so just did a little teaser.

I am sure we will get a Zelda Nintendo direct soon.

You are using logic mate. Don't use logic with Nintendo.

I think some of you guys are putting too much stock into what Reggie said about the game's development history.
He's not really part of the team, and doubt he's that in tune with what goes on in Japan.
I think it's more logical to conclude that the trailer we saw was sort of a general concept rather than a big substantial half finished game, unless Aonuma says otherwise.
:/

Yeah parts of the game are probably in a good state but not 'joined up' enough to make a decent demo, if that makes sense? Agree I think too much is being made of Reggie's comments.

I really hope I am wrong but I see this being pushed back to 2016...

It's a also really strange that they haven't uploaded the trailer yet...so that gives me a little hope...but then again, it wouldn't really make sense to not show a zelda trailer at the digital event...but then again, it's Nintendo...

it's possible but it's also likely that due to Nintendo directs they feel like they don't need to show too much right now since they have the freedom to just set up a direct in a few months. Zelda will most likely be THE Holiday game for next year I really don't see it going over to 2016 and getting a spring release or later.

I think the exact opposite. For me it seems that the world is already done...at least the overworld. There are way to many details for just a concept world. Remember the reveal of skyward sword? The forrest was nearly the same as in the released product. So I get my hopes up that we will see this version of hyrule field in the final game. :)

Yeah the over world (the main parts anyway) certainly APPEAR to be done. Probably things like dungeons and story that need work (I think story is always the last thing they work on?).

I can't express how excited I am for this game BTW.

It makes sense. It makes perfect sense.
Look again at what Nintendo is doing and what impact it has. They first kickstart the E3 with the DE. Then, they reveal another big game, StarFox, slightly afterward. During the whole E3, they have the Treehouse stream with new footage from games and developer comments. Don't forget the Smash tournament.
They didn't care that much for the DE. They wanted full exposure for three days. What is a better way to close that off than by showing something big on the last day?

Objectively, Nintendo won E3. Not by their games - as that is subjective, but by the way they held their events. For Sony/MS/EA/Ubi/... the E3 was already over before it started. Nintendo's E3 is still going strong.

The game has been rumored to have been in production since late 2010.

I'm not sure that's entirely truth or saying we will see more today but it's far into production.

Exactly, mate! They even revealed Starfox there (image in direct was blurred out for THAT moment TIME ruined) and that, WITH a little audience reaction. ;)

@Ugoo Amazing, just amazing.

@MisterGrey don't worry about my heart, they broke it often but I still live :D

I got a strong feeling that one of the last treehouses will atleast have some more insights on Zelda and hopefully a teaser for a new Mario
Galaxy 3...............

Hmm nah. Not another Galaxy. And I don't think they will show a new Mario. If they make a surprise, it's a Zelda MM 3D remake (god, please I want it) Or a Metroid for 3DS.
