Oh yeah I thought Robb was fine, if not better than the book version. Equally infuriating, though. Dude had it coming. You just can't be that dumb in Westeros. Unless you're Jon Snuuuuh.

I thought her acting on the stand had a few layers to it (was it betrayal? Was she paid off? Is she in fear for her life?) but yeah. Just kinda porn actressy.

Well you have a porn actress playing a whore playing a maid playing a lover who may or may not be in love. Not surprising it ended up being a bit indifferent.

Different list, here are my people who look nothing "like the books":

* Shae - Pictured here way plainer and smaller, actually a lot like Ramsay's "girl"
* Margery - I always kind of pictured her as a sweet Hermione type girl (who changes a little into the TV show version, but that takes a lot of time)
* Mance - I pictured him like season 4 Daario. You would think he would have some sort of charisma. Heck he used to pose as a bard around the place. The guy they chose has none.
* Daario - Like season 3.
* Catelyn - Pictured her as more attractive/girl next door because...
* Little Finger - I can't see why he would have such a big thing about Catelyn in the TV show. The guy is pretty good looking and has money/power and he can do better. I always pictured him as smaller and balding.
* Jaime - Pictured him blonde.
* The Mountain - Like season 1.

How the hell did Robb make this list but not Shae?

I wasn't really counting side characters like Shae or Ros.

Oh yeah I thought Robb was fine, if not better than the book version.

Richard Madden's performance is definitely better than that of the actor who portrayed him in the boo-

wait what

Cersei over Tywin and Jon worst than Dany and Shae? Come on now

I forgot about Tywin. I would have probably put him in my top 5 actually. I also forgot about Littlefinger and his horrible (ever changing) accent. Littlefinger would definitely edge out Robb for #5.

There are too many characters to remember!

And Kit Harrington is by far the worst lead actor on the show. Even worse than Emilia Clarke (though they're close).

Except Troy

Odysseus was a badass!

-------

Random Sean Bean IMDB scoping: He's set to star in a Caesar film which also has no less than four other GoT cast members attached (Indira Varma, Isaac Hempstead Wright, Mackenzie Crook, and John Bradley).

That's too funny. Indira Varma in another production about Caesar, and Bran Stark as Caesar's heir after he dies...in another doomed role.

Gwendolyn Christie may not be a great actress, but she's perfectly cast. Her role requires no more or less than she delivers.

In the books, I imagined Littlefinger looking like this:

And Margaery looking like this:

I guess Shae would be closer to this. [NSFW-ish]

Best acting list and Arya doesn't even get mentioned? I know they took a lot of the emotional scenes from the books out of the show lately to make her look cold and disconnected but Maisie has been fantastic with what she has been given. She went toe to toe with sean bean, charles dance, and had perfect chemistry with Rory in their comedic and serious scenes.

I think Michelle Fairley did a really good job with Catelyn as well.

Shae was the worst and Conleth Hill as Varys is my personal favorite. I actually like him more than in the books.

I've heard people complain that she's "too pretty", but I think that's super subjective. It would be nice if she had worse teeth.

If you think about it, if Karl didn't teach Jon that blood spitting move, Styr might have killed him, the wildlings would have taken over the wall, the white walkers would attack and Westeros would be doomed.

Thank you, Karl Tanner of Gin Alley.

And you people complain about invented characters. Karl Tanner, Legend of Gin Alley is much more memorable than Shae, the Funny Whore.

People act like they forgot about Viserys.

That's a good list but Davos belongs on the good side. Far more than arya or even Tyrion imo

also Jon snow is shitty enough for a numbered spot

Shae gets lifetime achievement garbage performance award though, with Daenerys and the fat kid Arya stabbed in the barn as runner ups

Don't really see what's wrong with Melisandre

Harrington doesn't elevate the material in any way. He's part of a show full of performances that constantly impress. By comparison, his scenes are dull. He isn't ever the reason a scene works.

I mean, that's harsh. What I'm trying to say is that he seems perfectly competent, but his take on the character is fairly unoriginal and a tad boring.

Eh, I like the previous actress who played Myrcella

Aimee Richardson was fine in her limited role the first couple seasons, and she's a sweet girl, but if Myrcella is going to be a major character next season I can understand why they'd want to get someone who wasn't originally cast as an extra.

Oooh, are we doing characters / actor performance rankings?

Top tier:
Tywin Lannister (this man needs an Emmy)
Joffrey Lannister
Theon Greyjoy
Varys
Olena Tyrell

Awesome:
Ayra Stark
Tyrion Lannister (a little tad overrated, me thinks)
The Hound
Catelyn Stark
Vyseris
Oberyn Martell
Stannis
Shireen
Jaime Lannister
Cersei Lannister (albeit she was quite crappy on S1)
Sansa Stark
Margaery Tyrell
Robert

Serviceable:
Ned Stark
Davos Seawoth
Ygritte
Bran
Brienne
Khal Drogo
Old Daario
Da fookin' legend

Mediocre:
Melissandre
Jhon Snow
Missandrei
Meera Reed
Daenerys

Fail:
New Daario
Shae
Ros
Yara Greyjoy
Jojen Reed

Not sure if crap or genious:
Littlefinger

Hodor:
Hodor (awesome tier)

Overall, an incredible casting work. Specially outstanding with the kids, but perhaps a little tad weaker when it comes to the female characters

All of the Lannisters are great. As are the Tyrells. Sansa and Arya are awesome, too.

I would have to say the only one I have a problem with is Tyrion. Now, hear me out.

Peter Dinklage is an amazing Tyrion. He is a phenomenal actor and absolutely deserves all the praise and recognition he has received thus far. I just really hate his fake accent. Sometimes it sounds a little too forced, and it sounds strange. I'm reminded of the line, "If you want justice, you've come to the wrong place." The delivery was pretty bad, in my opinion.

That being said, Dany is also pretty mediocre in general. She was best in season one.
