All of the Lannisters are great. As are the Tyrells. Sansa and Arya are awesome, too.

I would have to say the only one I have a problem with is Tyrion. Now, hear me out.

Peter Dinklage is an amazing Tyrion. He is a phenomenal actor and absolutely deserves all the praise and recognition he has received thus far. I just really hate his fake accent. Sometimes it sounds a little too forced, and it sounds strange. I'm reminded of the line, "If you want justice, you've come to the wrong place." The delivery was pretty bad, in my opinion.

That being said, Dany is also pretty mediocre in general. She was best in season one.

I agree with this. I love Dinklage and his incredible portrayal of Tyrion, but the accent is pretty bad. The one word that always gets me is...well, "always" itself; for some reason he pronounces it as "ole-ways". It's pretty jarring to hear if you're on this side of the world, but it's such a minor nitpick in an otherwise great actor's performance.

Here's what the WiC Mod 'Fury' has to say about the possible Myrcella recast:

"We’re already looking into it. We’ll let you guys know what HBO says as soon as we hear back, as always."

Emilia Clarke' portrayal of Dany is perfect. Honestly. Her performance is exactly what I expected for the character.

Pretty much how I feel. I don't think Clarke is a great actress, but she plays the character very much how I've interpreted it.

------------

Meh at the recast just I'd rather not see them.

Part 2 of season 5 of Breaking Bad spilled into a second one I believe. We have about 35k posts between the two threads this year though.

I'll probably post the new OT late tonight, as I don't know when I'll have time tomorrow.

----------
@Alliser: He hurt is leg, but I saw no evidence that he was gravely wounded in last week's episode.

I didn't get the impression that Alliser was gravely wounded either, not sure where people are getting that from.

LOST had one OT per episode, iirc.

But it wasn't caused it spilled over 20k posts per episode was it?

Yeah, I have no clue where the dead Thorne talk was coming from. He was barely injured, then dragged, still with his wits, screaming his head off. Close to the grave, that man was not.

He'll be up and ready for the final episode where Jon can go on hating his guts and he can go on wishing Snow's wildling whore had done the job for him.

I like Thorne as a character in the show. He's a dick to Jon for basically no reason, but he also is fairly competent as a leader (with the exception of his blond spot to Jon's valid advice). I like that he's not one-dimensional. He's an asshole but you still respect him for his passion for defending the wall, especially in that last episode.

With me now! Now, with me!

Morrigan Stark

Arrogant Smirk
I guess I can play too. I like Ikael's tiers so I'll re-use them:

Top tier:
Robert Baratheon (I seriously think it's the most faithful casting/interpretation of the series... come at me bros)
Tywin Lannister
Joffrey Lannister Baratheon
Theon Greyjoy
Varys
Olenna Tyrell
Catelyn Stark
Viserys Targaryen
Jaime Lannister
Arya Stark
Cersei Lannister
Eddard Stark
Syrio Forel
Old Nan

Awesome:
Tyrion Lannister (agreed he's a tad overrated but still good)
The Hound
Oberyn Martell
Shireen Baratheon
Sansa Stark
Margaery Tyrell
Melisandre
Davos Seaworth
Samwell Tarly
Jeor Mormont
Jorah Mormont
Barristan Selmy
Lysa Arryn
Selyse Baratheon
Roose Bolton
Walder Frey
Brynden "Blackfish" Tully
Grandmaster Pycelle
Bronn
Podrick Payne
Maester Luwin
Janos Slynt (so perfectly weaselly)
Yoren
Jaqen H'ghar
The Mountain v1
Karl the fookin' legend Tanner
Spice King of Qarth (I liked him! too bad he had to die)
Sallador Saan
Maester Aemon

Serviceable:
Stannis Baratheon (I think the actor is great, it's the writing that's impeding him)
Ygritte
Bran Stark
Brienne
Khal Drogo
Missandrei
Meera Reed
Jojen Reed
Daario v2
Yara Greyjoy
Loras Tyrell
Grey Worm
Mance Rayder (I think he'd be awesome, just underused)
Tormund Giantsbane
Orell
Gendry
Pyp
Grenn
Dolorous Edd (actor's fine but they skewered his lines, alas)
Ilyn Payne
Gilly
Janos Slynt
Craster
Beric Dondarrion
Thoros of Myr
Mirri Maz Duur
Alliser Thorne

Mediocre:
Jon Snow
Daenerys Targaryen
Ros
Renly Baratheon
Styr
Ramsay Snow Bolton (too goofy)
Osha (again, mostly the writing's fault but I'm not fond of her interpretation/acting much either)
The Mountain v2 (a bit too skinny) and v3 (way too young and baby-faced)
Robin Arryn

Fail:
Daario v1 (good riddance)
Shae
Talisa Stark
Illyrio Mopatis
Pyat Pree

Not sure if crap or genius:
Littlefinger

Hodor: (awesome tier)
Hodor
Hot Pie
Bart the Bear

Also: holy shit does this series have a lot of characters :D

I think that on a show with this much violence and death, your character who tortures everyone needs to have a healthy sense of humor.

Huh just got an email, apparently Olly Moss's lil GoT character drawings sold 25,000 prints. And they were only on sale for like twenty four hours.

I wanted to dominate the living room. Then I took an ESRAM in the knee.
In my mind it is now 100% confirmed Stoneheart is cut/saved for next season. The internet is going to be unbearable after the episode ugh.

Haven't followed the discussion so far, and so I don't know why Lena Headey's stone heart isn't evidence to the contrary, but nevertheless I still think that she will appear. It would be a big cliffhanger, it would be a good counter-balance to all the injustice that happened so far, and it would not cost much screen time.

Fucking hell, no LSH is going to suuuuuuuck :(

nah, i think it would make for a good open to S5. It seems too early to me to reveal her and give her any gravitas. reveal in S5E1 with some 'token Freys' and have her meet up with our expected characters near the end of the S5.

You do it as the last scene of the season to get people HYPED as shit for the next season (Starks are gonna get their revenge, ect)

Opening the season with it is silly.

Agree. There is also no necessary reason to remind the audience of the red wedding in the recap, especially since that scene is supposed to be a gib surprise.

Also it completely spoils and ruins the arrival of Stannis.

Yeah, that was a silly move. :-/

there are already a ton of things happening in S4E10, hype isn't going to be a problem.
Opening it in S5E1 will set the tone for the series going forward, tides shifting.

I mean, Joffrey was Episode 2 this season. Not everything has to be a cliffhanger. But Stoneheart would work so fucking well as one.

Why would they show that Stannis scene
smh

Agreed, it was dumb. Most non-readers I know think Stannis is sailing for King's Landing right now. If they needed to put a scene with Stannis in, they should have put the one with Davos telling Sallador San that Stannis how has money, and they they sail the next morning. That way it stays ambiguous.

It's not the lack of Catelyn/RW that cements Stoneheart's non appearance, it's the lack of reminding people the Brotherhood is a thing that exists (and they could easily do that without showing the resurrection stuff).

edit: And yeah that Stannis scene why would they put that there after doing a pretty good job of making it ambiguous of where he went lol

Guys, you're being silly.

Stannis is going to the wall. There's no strategic reason for him or the show to keep this secret, and it's been absolutely ridiculous that no character has mentioned this destination in season 4.

Okay, thinking they might save LSH for S5. If only for the relatively lack of "big" moments like those in the remaining material.

That might be an option, the could move LSH to the end of S5.

I wonder what they will do with FFC anyway. The book was definitely the "slowest" of them all, and introduced new characters and places, which might confuse TV watchers even more. Wouldn't be suprised, if S5 tells the whole story of FFC and DOD.

yeah looking at the other thread most non readers think stannis is buying an army for round 2 at KL, this just spoils the whole thing lol

It's tempting to tell non-book readers to not watch the recap. Should someone make a post like that in the other thread?

How could they be this stupid?

They have been keeping it a secret for the entire season. That's why most non-book readers think he's going to King's Landing if he's going anywhere at all.

Moving the epilogue would be INSANE. That would be like pushing the dragon reveal from the end of season 1 into the next season.

ElTorro : So that's a vote for in? :p (Hey, some people like to bet against odds...)

Yeah, it's an in. It's the perfect cliffhanger. The only alternative would be to move it to the end of S5. But that scene has to be the final scene of S4 or S5 in any case.

But he said he's going to the wall. Not in the books, on the show.

There's no big surprise, no big reveal. He said he's going to the wall in season 3, episode 10 and in all subsequent scenes, he's gathered an army.

The whole point of shocking TV moments is that they're genuinely shocking. If they're just shocking to the people who can't be bothered to pay attention to things that are explicitly said, what's the point?

I'm 50/50 on the whole LSH thing, there are arguments for both, although I consider the "no one has seen or mentioned the brotherhood this whole season" a pretty strong one for why they would push it back to like ep 2 or 3 in the next season after maybe having the guy die and be resurrected again once or twice

But he said he's going to the wall. Not in the books, on the show.

yeah he did, but look at the tv only thread most people there think he is going to KL again, at least from what I've been reading

Preview does mention her name twice, so there's that, but not enough evidence to guarantee it.

It's a bit of a bummer to think all this time since the RW Cat's been using her new lease on 'life' to hang Freys, and yet show-watchers will continue to remain all the more unaware.
