I'll seriously consider Devil Third again if they have a better showing.

yeah it seems much better the longer you look at the concept. the biggest thing is that they need to make the transition between first and third person more smooth and need to make the shooting up to par with usual FPS games. i trust them on the sword combat.

multiplayer looks like it will have a lot customization

Devil's Third seemed rather early. I think it's possible it has been reworked to some extent. It didn't even get a release year of 2015 but just "TBA". It's possible that Nintendo is just letting Itagaki to take his time with the product increasing the quality of the game.

All the people who are newcomers to mario kart, I will give one warning. Do not join the gaf lobby for kart because those people are brutal. I'm pretty good at it and the highest I placed in the gaf tournament was fourth.

thats how you get better, yes, them guys are good, but learn what they do when spectating, look at what the top 1-2-3 do look at the shortcuts they take and proceed. I suck too. haha

Nintendo Defence Force jumping the gun a little bit here and can pipe down. It's not much needed. Those are just one of the few reasons why I haven't bought one yet, is all.
I've already said I'm pleased for those who do enjoy their system.

Was I really that noisy?

Attention all new Wii U owners:

LEGO CITY UNDERCOVER

You need that game.

That is all.

I've been a Wii U owner from day one, and I still don't own this. I don't like the Lego games in terms of gameplay (although I do like the silly jokes and fanservice), yet I am partial to open world games.

But if it really is that good, by all means convince me.

Same. It's still too expensive, its pretty much full price even now. If it hits £20 I'll pick it up..

bought the Mario luigi deluxe bundle a day ago for $134(target error) along with 3d world($30) and have a little buyers remose setting in. I have a 3ds(with a backlog) and feel like that could be enough to scratch the Nintendo itch especially since the games are similar. 3dland/3dworld, mk7/mk8, nsmb2/nsmbu, dkcr/dkctf, smash3d/smashu. I know that there are future games im interested in but the releases are sparse overall and I could sell it for a nice profit..... decisions, decisions.

It's really depressing to me how many people have no idea what a Wii U is. I didn't realize this until I got one a couple days ago and had to explain to everyone how it is not a Wii.

A shame isn't it. I've had people over who are casual gamers who still bought a PS4 day 1 (just cause) and when seeing the Wii U they said what's that. When I tell them they say they have never heard of it. The name really is a problem. Should have just gone with Wii 2.

If you sell it you are a terrible terrible human being

Yeah, my mother actually thought I was paying $200 for the game pad for a minute there- She knew it was a new console, but when she saw the picture, she was greatly confused.

Haha wow I noticed this immediately with 3D world/land, but I guess I didn't pay attention too much when it came with the others. At least I don't own any of those 3DS games.

I just call it the Wii 2 around other people. Saves me a lot of time.

It's the best open-world game to date, if I'm asked. That's because Lego City Undercover's city is more alive than any other I've seen. It's also got the most entertaining side-missions when compared, for example, to Ubisoft's games.

Add to that the story and the characters and especially the humor and you've got a winner. It's truly a great game, all the other Lego games pale in comparision.

Going to order a refurb one with my next pay check at the end of this month. I want it mostly for Mario Kart, Super Smash, Mario, and Zelda.

That... actually sounds really cool. I might consider it.

keep in mind gameplay is very simple, like one button to punch baddies and you're winner; also, game has among the longest loading times of any game. But it really doesn't matter much, because when it finishes loading you've got the city and its surroundings to explore, they are enormous and beautiful

I really wasn't planning to buy one until Smash Bros. came out but I found a great deal on the standard deluxe version and I couldn't resist. It'll be sitting in my closet until December though lol.

I'm so tempted to buy one these next couple days for MK8.

But I also wonder if they'll do a Bayonetta bundle? That's what I want it most for!

Planning to
re
buy this week when Big W has them for $198 from Wednesday evening. Bit of an impulse sell, the first time... but for that price I can happily jump back in again.

Since no one has done it yet, as someone who has owned the system from the first day, here are the games I think are worth buying/renting:

Zombi U
NSMB U + NSL U
Lego City Undercover
Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate
Rayman Legends
Pikmin 3
Wind Waker HD
Super Mario 3D World
Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze
Wonderful 101
Mario Kart 8
Resident Evil Revelations, though the 3DS version is cheaper and arguably better
NES Remix 1 + 2 (digital only)
Zen/Star Wars Pinball (digital only)
Nano Assault Neo (digital only)
Mutant Mudds Deluxe (digital only)
Runner 2 (digital only)
D&D Arcade (digital only)

There are a couple of other good games out there depending on your tastes, like Wii Sports, Splinter Cell Blacklist, Need for Speed, Tekken, Lego Marvel, Sonic Racing, Skylanders, Scribblenauts and so on.
Personally, those are the ones I'd recommend without assuming anything about a person's tastes.

Looking forward, we've got Smash, Zelda, Yoshi, and Xenoblade. Hoping for a few more big hitters to make it really stand out as an underloved console. It just needs a proper Mario entry and a couple more special titles (a Pokemon RPG, Starfox, Metroid, a good Warioware, Paper Mario? type stuff) to live on as a neo Dreamcast.

No, and SSB is the only game I am interested in until Zelda comes out. I guess Star Fox could be cool as well, but we know so little about the game that it isn't even a blip on my radar. I've just lost most of my interest in Nintendo games to be honest. I haven't been into Nintendo in any kind of meaningful way since the first year of the GCN. My personal interest level in Nintendo games would put them at games that I would buy at around $30, but Nintendo is the worst video game company in the world when it comes to price drops. There is also no way in hell that I would pay $300 for a Wii U. I could see paying $200 for a brand new system (no referbs) once Zelda comes out. And hopefully by then the games that I would somewhat like to play would be cheaper.

Captain toad, yoshi, and Zelda all look amazing. Plus there's pikmin 3, Mario 3d world, and Mario kart.

unfortunately, all those games combined cannot compete with the last guardian, imo. That's one game I'd buy a ps4 for.

I bought one today actually. I've been wanting one for Mario Kart 8, WW HD, and Super Mario 3D World for a while now, and E3 pushed me over the edge.

I'm trying to figure out if it's even worth me getting the Refurb.

Reason being is that I was buying the Wii with the intention of playing the NSMB games (Big Fan), so NSMB U + Luigi was a default buy. Thing is, buying that on top of the Wii itself brings me to around $75. So, $275. That's $25 away from just getting the NSMB + Luigi bundle, which also includes the Gamepad Cradle which is another $9 bought separately. That's $284 dollars + $5 for shipping, which brings me to $290. That's $10 under the Refurbished Bundle, taking my planned purchases into consideration. I'm thinking just going to Best Buy and buying it there will be more convenient. I'd get it same day, and it'd be easier to return.

So hey, I just fired up the Wii U and noticed that I suddenly had Wii Sports Club, even though I never bought it. I tried to do a quick google search, and it seems like they sometimes offer free trial periods on it? Has anyone else had it just randomly show up for you without prompting it to?

yeah they'll do that from time to time if you have spot pass enabled. I think Wii Sports Club is just a 24 hour free trial though

I believe people have been getting Brain Age for free that way in Europe and Japan too

Yup, agreed. In fact I sometimes regret playing it because none of the other Lego games, which I've always enjoyed greatly, come close to being anywhere near as good.

I'll be all over a sequel or Frank Honey DLC.

The inevitable "The Wii U/Nintendo is Awesome!!!!" posts now start rolling in. Remember about two months ago, when every podcast, and article and thread was predicting that Nintendo was doomed and would have to close down and was the worst? Yeah, apparently no one else does. It changed over night. As soon as E3 was done this year, All I've heard was how Nintendo is the King and they have the best games. 3 of my friends bought Wii U's this weekend. I knew this would happen and just told everyone to wait, It happens every time. Remember when the 3DS was the worst thing ever and had ZERO games and was a curse on Nintendo and that they would have to drop out of the Hardware scene? Now people say the only good games are on 3DS.
