ISome of the pacing seemed weird at points to me though.
I feel like it would have been nice to see him telling them at STAR about it rather than jumping right to testing, but that's me.

Honestly, it felt off to me as well. It really felt like as though I was watching an episode that was meant to be 60 minutes (90 minutes on tv with commercials) cut down to the length of a regular episode.

Funky Papa

FUNK-Y-PPA-4
It has the usuals CWisms like weak female characters, exposition, and a dude kissing the main girl in the distance while the protagonist watches, which got a standing ovation from me, but in general it was a good enough but it could easily go Smallvile. It will probably suck since time travel ruins everything. The cop seems hardly like a father figure, what a dick.

I have yet to watch the ep, but The 100 has the strongest female lead on a TV show since OG Nikita.

Just watched the pilot, I thought it was ok, not great, really loved the easter eggs though.

Comic book nerdery that may actually lead into spoilers

Wonder if they'll do Vibe and Killer Frost with Cisco and Caitlin. Loved the CoIE reference at the end of the episode. The acting didn't feel as good as it was in the Arrow episodes, was the pilot finished before those episodes? Really like the suit though, and it doesn't look like they're putting a handicap on Barry's powers, he's already going above mach 2 in his first outing. I haven't read too many flash comics but the speed force allows him to overcome things like inertia and friction right? Wonder if they'll introduce the concept eventually or if its too comic booky (though I doubt it after seeing weather man)

I was about to ask if she's also dead pretty, but I think I know the answer...

Yes. She is ridiculously pretty.

I loved the pilot but haven't followed the flash comic series
since they killed Bart Allen since he was in the costume and just picked up the new 52 series because of the Wally West controversy

With that said can someone explain the ending for me?

What was the significance of the doctor walking into that room and looking at a future newspaper with the flash disappearing 10 years from now?

It seems like it is a nod to
Crisis on Infinite Earths, a DC comic mega event from the 1980's that did away with DC's concept of a multiverse. Barry Allen died destroying a weapon that would have destroyed the earth and the Flash mantle was passed to Wally West. The crisis headline plus the red skies dissipating are direct nods.

I just watched the pilot. Shifty CW and pilot-Ness aside, I liked it. The kid playing Barry is going to carry the show. Whoever is casting for these shows is hitting it out of the park.

My penis will explode if he runs into Tom Welling at some point.

He can play a homeless guy who Barry tries to help out, gets him a job interview but refuses to wear the suit Barry gets him. Or literally runs into him while running fast.

Funny: on Grant Gustin's Instagram, people kept talking about the pilot on his pics, so he responded:
(paraphrasing) You saw the pilot. Shame on you. Hope you don't go to jail. I know it leaked, you don't have to inform me. I just hope all of you show up on day one... with your friends.

Although the ending is a nod to
Crisis on Infinite Earths
, it seems the implications are more along the lines of
time travel existing in the universe and Flashpoint Paradox related events (Barry's mother) rather than them going full Crisis
.

I thought the ending was really dumb.

That newspaper photographer just somehow managed to snap a crystal clear pic of the Flash running towards him at superhuman speed during the Crisis? What kinda camera was he using?

But hey, it's the CW, so dumb stuff is kinda par for the course.

I thought the pilot was just ok. The intro was weak, and the villain sucked, but Barry and the series regulars seem alright. It mostly just feels like Arrow lite...or Arrow teen.

Umm..that's not how newspapers work. You've never seen any articles about missing people?

That newspaper probably has 100s of Flash photos ready to be used whenever they need them.

"Extended trailer" basically means "Here's the whole movie. Would you like to pay an ungodly amount of money to see it on a bigger screen, and with the boring parts this time?"

EDIT : hey looks like I can't read! Good day to you all :p

Well.that's the whole point of extended trailers, so that you don't need to watch it.

With that
newspaper
, I hope they do time jumps forward. Arrow did them backwards so it would be a cool twist to do the opposite. Would be a really fun way to play with
the time travel aspect
.

Variety: CW’s Mark Pedowitz Talks ‘Supernatural’ Spinoff, ‘Arrow’ and ‘Flash’ Crossovers
With “Arrow” as an established hit on the net, “The Flash” was introduced as a planted spinoff last spring, and will debut in the fall. “In the world we live in, ‘Flash’ and ‘Arrow’ share a similar universe,” said Pedowitz. “You will see — organically — characters shifting over, villains shifting over back and forth between ‘Flash’ and ‘Arrow.’ We will be introducing more villains that are part of the DC Comics universe.”
