They look pretty much the same.
Jesus Christ, the texture filtering is a dead giveaway, as is the fact that you can make out the seams in his shirt on PS4. Beyond that, the clarity and IQ should be apparent.
They look pretty much the same.
It clearly doesn't look that much better. It honestly doesn't look like much work or love has gone into this port. Simply moving it to the ps4 with minimal effort should give you room for higher res/fps.
I guess I'm just used to pc games where more powerful hardware automatically upgrades (remasters) your entire library in regards to res, FPS, and other effects.
Their refusal to show the game or post a comparison video a mere week before release shows how proud they are of their work.
Just for reference I do have the game preordered and paid off.

Funny, isn't itBolded tells the story.
This is what the PS3 version looked like.
Don't cut yourself on that railing.
Yeah, I agree. Even multiplatform games where the consoles were clearly the led platform looked far better on the PC. If it was a PS3 -> PC (last gen) difference, I would have been satisfied. It clearly doesn't look that much better. It honestly doesn't look like much work or love has gone into this port. Supporting a product you think is lazy. Why?It clearly doesn't look that much better. It honestly doesn't look like much work or love has gone into this port. Simply moving it to the ps4 with minimal effort should give you room for higher res/fps.

We all know you're just trolling. I've quoted you. Everyone knows.Yeah, I agree. Even multiplatform games where the consoles were clearly the led platform looked far better on the PC. If it was a PS3 -> PC (last gen) difference, I would have been satisfied.
People say that every time someone posting a capture from the PS3 version, maybe you don't remember it correctly or you sat far away from your TV but the IQ in this game was horrible on the PS3.

There are much more comments like this here.
You can spot them immediately.

People really need to get their memory back, I'm really amazed how people seriously can't see any difference, IQ was horrible on PS3 (not including the prologue) and 1080P with better textures and AA will make a huge difference alone.
Hmm also what? that looks horrible.I played it on my 24" monitor, which is pretty close to my face.
Also,
No component fuzz.

It still looks frigin' amazing to me though. I'm seeing two things in these TLOUR threads (not necessarily you):
People taking the opportunity to shit on the PS3 version
People taking the opportunity to shit on a 'remaster'.
Shouldn't we at least strive for something like the Metro Bundle? Or the Master Chief Collection?

its still $60 right?
I have never play tlou but not sure I will pick this up first thing when destiny is right around the corner.
Exactomundo companero ^_^I can't wait to play this game again!
Game development on fixed hardware is all about tricks.Yikes that looks bad. While TLOU looked great on the PS3. ND really used a lot of tricks. I think people are remembering TLOU on PS3 with rose tinted glasses.

Not sure why people thought the different would be huge. This is basically what the game would have looked like on PC.
I'll bite. How do these 2 collections compare to TLOU:R at all?
1) These games have the benefit of being collections, multiple games in a series. There is only one TLOU but this remaster also includes all of the DLC. So what is your main issue here? price?
2) The metro games have visually impressive PC versions, so they already have a lot to work with in terms of bringing them over to current-gen consoles. TLOU was a PS3 exclusive, no PC version with better visuals exist, so even just porting it from PS3 to PS4 is a lot of work.
3) With the halo collection, 3 of those games are ports from last-gen consoles which will more than likely end up being a similar port job to TLOU on PS4 (1080p/60fps some new effects perhaps). The only real thing thats yet to be seen is how good Halo 2 will look, but even thats not fair to compare to the last of us because this is an original Xbox game, they have no choice but to remake. I'm also going to use this as a chance to predict that Halo 3 for xbox one is probably going to be a significantly lazier port job than TLOU:R. Now where TLOU can't compare to the halo collection is value I agree with you there. 4 games for $60 thats awesome, but again what can TLOU do about that? There's only one game and they are including all of the DLC
so when it comes down to it, is your main issue really price? Considering the game is only a year old and includes all of the DLC, I think $50 is quite fair
Checking these (PS4) pics here and later seeing the game in motion..... the difference IS huge. Not sure why people thought the different would be huge. This is basically what the game would have looked like on PC.

How can you predict that one port will be lazier than the other?
It would have looked much better if was it made with a PC version in mind since they would have more engine options and would just rip them out for the consoles version .
Checking these (PS4) pics here and later seeing the game in motion..... the difference IS huge.
Its gonna be $50 retail and possibly on sale around september or whenever Destiny releases
That's one question, the other question is do you buy games based on effort? How can you predict that one port will be lazier than the other?
But you do? I need to know for the future who the arbiter of fucking is.You don't get to make the call that Naughty Dog (or Sony) is objectively not fucking anyone over with the pricing of their port. So don't use that false equivalence horse hockey.

In case you need it spelled out (and I suspect you do), ND hasn't fucked anyone over, let alone in "terrifying fashion."
And people who are disgusted by EA's profitable anti-consumer business practices don't have to buy EA's products either. But they can show their disgust towards it. And they should! That stuff can set a bad precedent for other companies to follow until it results in a new horrible anti-consumer trend that affects many of the franchises we love. Please, tell me how they've stolen your wallet and forced you to buy a game that is just as described at the time of announcement.

but those people shouldn't have a blind spot where "their team" is, they shouldn't at one moment be swinging the flag of consumer rights and then the next moment talk about "the market dictates this is okay!" because now "their team" might be doing something disagreeable.
Then look at it again.I'm not seeing it.
WTF are you even talking about, Captain Consumer Rights? You don't get to make the call that Naughty Dog (or Sony) is objectively not fucking anyone over with the pricing of their port. So don't use that false equivalence horse hockey.

I don't get the defenders argument that "it was never more than a port". All of the HD remakes last gen had significant upgrades. Tomb Raider was a big improvement. Halo MCC is a huge value as well. If TLOU were around $30 then it wouldn't be an issue, but this is hardly a bargain at $50...and hopefully doesn't set an acceptable precedent for work going into next gen ports/rereleases.
Then look at it again.
Have you even played TLOU PS3? Seems like you have to play it again.
Textures, lighting, etc. are CLEARLY better.
And the biggest difference, higher framerate, is still something we haven't seen/experienced.
