This keeps getting brought up because Microsoft talks about the power of the Xbone like it's just as powerful as the PS4. Which isn't true obviously.

Its their system, they are going to talk it up. Other than the infamous "we aren't giving up 50%" quote from the ass storm last year, they haven't claimed its more powerful. We know the PS4 has more power, so do they, and most of the world. At the same time, they are not going to publicly say the competition is better. That's not how its done. As long as they are not lying and claiming the XB1 is more powerful, whats the problem?

I bought it for friends and the games. I assumed things like Forza, SO, Gears of War (that is if Black Tusk handles this well), and Halo were given (which are the big things for me). I certainly didn't buy it for the multiplats

I'd call the PS4/X1 GPU comparisons just beating a dead horse if some people weren't so insistent that the difference is negligible so here we are.

If power is a reason to make you sad while buying a console then boy do I have news for you!

At the end of the day, we're going to just have to look for the games, and we've been shown before that the weaker competitor can still amount a great library of games.

I knew from the get go that the Xbox One would be underpowered to the PS4 since announcement. Microsoft is banking on Cloud Processing and usage of eSRAM. But the thing is that developers are finding implementing eSRAM as difficult.

People thought the 10% GPU boost would make XB1 close to PS4 and bring parity not realising we knew the specs of both systems since last year and the talk of the performance gap was taking in account the full specs of the consoles. The 10% MS reserved just made things worse.

We're seeing things like Order 1886 and even Bloodborne which both look amazing. I want to say Quantum Break but they've shown nothing of substance yet so there's nothing to toot your horn about quite yet with that game.

You can always buy the Sony one too. Many PS fans do want some of the upcoming Xbox games for sure, there are (or in a couple of months) very good games for both consoles.

So that would only suggest a 20% - 31% power difference even when the esRAM is absolutely maxed on the XB1

I used the absolute "theoretical" max that the article authors get from their "benchmarking"

They specify that very clearly as 32 - 35 "relative points" and it's pretty easy to see they have the PS4 at around 42

If you wanted to say use the "only ESram" XB1 score then it would be around 42/28 -> 1.5 which is basically what you suggested
