Dat scaling. Firelands 10m normal on beta (at 90) feels like Naxx 10 on live. At 100 Cata 25m heroics will probably be just as faceroll. Especially with any kind of decent gear.

Maybe if that's the case I will finally bother to finish my Dragonwrath.

My main level 96 warrior is working now again, and hopefully will continue to work until they can find a permanent solution to this. Also, feel free to add me in the beta at Rösti#2741.

Update: Was struck again with the Minus world glitch, just a few moments after I used the Hearthstone.
 
that is how it is supposed to be, old content is not going to be squished instead there is a new mechanic where you take less damage from and deal more damage to creatures from previous expansions. Also all the old content is available.

Maybe I can finally get my extinguished hand. I've lost rolls on that thing so many times.

I think Cataclysm actually has the best music out of them all. Largely thanks to a much greater involvement by David Arkenstone. The expansions all sound fairly different from eachother due to involvements from different composers which is nice. Vanilla was largely Jason Hayes. The Burning Crusade saw more involvement from Matt Uelmen of Diablo fame. They both left Blizzard afterwards but Jason Hayes is back now.

A lot of people don't know that the music and ambience that Matt Uelmen contributed to Burning Crusade was actually his Diablo 3 music before Blizz North got canned.

I usually play for the first month or two with sound on with a new expansion. Love the in-game audio and music. And if a new raid comes out I leave it on at first, but after a while I usually turn it off and put on my own music or like a podcast if I'm grinding something or doing dailies.

Regearing sucks. My Enhance set is 575, and my Ele set is 564, but the Ele set is stronger in almost every SoO fight. Tier tokens-wise, I'm fine, but I've been using this LFR ToT trinket for weeks now.

Guild's recruiting to go 25 man soon though, so I'll have more chances then, I suppose.

Depends on the game. I usually don't, but sometimes I get very close to turning the sound off in Guild Wars 2 because NPCs tends to repeat themselves A LOT. Same with some player skills (how many times do i hear "I can outrun a centaur!" or "Eat my dust!" *shiver*). And i've only been playing for a month! I'd go crazy if I would have been playing since launch.

With WoW though... you definitely miss something. The sound from npcs and players isn't annoying(well, it rarely is) and the music is excellent.

I love the in-game music, but I usually keep it turned down pretty low so I can hear people in voice chat and boss mod warnings.

Used to listen to quest a lot in BC with either in game music turned up loud or some album I was listening to at the time. There's a few musicians whose music I strongly associate with WoW because I listened to it so much while leveling lol.

I can agree with this though. Clashing noises get a bit much, especially in a large group.

The format of itemString has changed some in Warlords of Draenor, and I'm currently trying to find out what each number corresponds to.

For newer items added in Warlords of Draenor, it looks like this:

item:116116:0:0:0:0:0:0:0:0:0:0

Stuff like enchantId and jewelId remain, others I do not know, especially the last three nulls.

Older stuff, for example items from Siege of Orgrimmar, have twelve instead of ten zero values. A Mythic Warforged fully upgraded (6/6) version of Xal'atoh, Desecrated Image of Gorehowl would have the following itemString (507 is upgradeId):

item:105644:0:0:0:0:0:0:0:0:507:0:0:0

Nothing special about that. If you however modify the three last zero values to 1, and add some enchants, you get the following:

The last three zero values seem to be modifiable in a range of 0-3 with seemingly different results depending on item designation. Applying X:X:X at the end of itemString of an item from Warlords of Draenor, with an itemString featuring twelve zeroes, returned entirely different results.

itemString has always been kinda wonky, but this seems a bit overboard. It was even possible to have the item display as a Pristine Crafting Material.

You guys seem to truly have a blast with the game and all the things you can do. I can't wait to get at least one of my characters (and hopefully more) to max level to start hunting for some things. On my list once I hit 90:

* Gear up as much as possible for being somewhat casual: LFR and maybe some Flex with my guild and dungeons
* One of my favorite things to do: go back to old raids and dungeons for achievements and mounts
* Play a profession to make gold
* Explore and go for exploration and reputation achievements

There's probably more, but those are some of my favorite things about the game and MMOs in general.
 
How are you farming ICC? I was planning on doing that with my DK. I only have two shards so far.

I get 3 or 4 other people from guild/trade/oq. I can solo some bosses, but others (like gunship) would give me a hard time.

Usually no more than that and I just advertise the mount/xmog will be free roll with shards reserved. Could probably do 3 people even if the healer can switch to DPS for Lich King.

I'm 579 iLvl right now though, so I can carry pretty much anyone else. The extra bodies just help.

Oh yeah, having that first 90 opens things up for sure. And I'm like you, I love going back and solo'ing old raids. For transmog gear, achieves and especially mounts.

Why can't WoD get this kind of art for the loading screens instead of crummy comic book art?
Most of the loading screens look okay to me, but that is pretty dope.


edit: damn, US realms are still down down for maintenance. Can't remember the last time we had extended maintenance like this.

I wonder why the long maintenance today. It was even extended another 2 hours. No patch in sight, can't be hearthstone related, could it? I mean the new nax adventure came out today.

They just said its because Realm hardware is being upgraded.

@Bashiok: We're apparently upgrading realm hardware. I'm not well knowledged on service goings on these days.

Cool. As long as it's in the greater good, bettering realm stability etc. And as long as it isn't delayed further. ;)

Well great, I went to upgrade my garrison to level two and got the bug where it levels to four. Now if I want to continue testing them I have to copy my guy over again and start fresh.

My Tuesday morning/afternoon profit time was all squashed due to the extended maintenance :(

Guess I just hold onto my gems till tomorrow or later this week when the prices should rise a bit.

Oh and if I do finish Shadowmourne today it'll be later - there was like 15 ICC runs going on in OQ. Besides trade being extremely busy at peak server hours. Fuck that noise.

I will finish it sometime this week though.

Sounds like this thing they were talking about on Wowhead where they decided to combine item variants all into one string (so take Xal'atoh; on Current, there's multiple entries for it for each possible drop (so RF, Flex, Normal, etc.), but for WoD, all of those are combined into one thing).

Instead of each version of an item being linked to a unique item ID, all versions are consolidated into one item ID in Warlords of Draenor. An item can now have a number of bonuses applied--ranging from a Raid Difficulty to a gem socket. So in 6.0, there will be one item ID associated with all versions of a Siege of Orgrimmar item, like Korven's Crimson Crescent.

So I guess all those 0s maybe correspond to extra bonuses/modifiers?

What am I doing wrong?
 
The Rich Purple Silk Shirt recipe that was up for 20k the other day was apparently bought out and relisted for 97k.

20k is still fairly expensive, but I should have snatched it anyway. Even though I have the recipe...on a random lowbie...on another server.

I think it's a priest that has it too which sucks cause a) Already have the class at 90 and b) Hate that class.

For Ally: You arrive and do quests near Paw'Don Village > Search for Anduin > Meet Jinyu & quest around Pearlfin Village > Hang with Lorewalker Cho > Search for Anduin & Quest with him > More Pearlfin (I think) > Dawn's Blossom

At Dawn's Blossom, same for both factions, there are some initial quests to help find some panda kids, after that you'll be given a bunch of breadcrumb quests to various hubs. Would help to know what the last quest you did was.

Got some more stuff done tonight.

Trying to get the "Collect Your Deck" achievement done, but I gotta wait until the Darkmoon Faire comes back so I can try and get Blind Hero.

But I went and beat all the extra bosses the Brawler's Guild and got the "Now You're Just Showing Off" achievement done.

Also started back up Argent Tournament dailies.
They wouldn't be so bad if there weren't so many damn quests to do.
(Not to mention the odd one or two that send you halfway across the continent.)

I said I was finishing Shadowmourne, but I don't know where he got it in his head that a guy I'm pugging from trade and have never met before would for some reason get any of the goodies (half of which are worth upwards of 50k gold each). Wasn't mentioned as part of the deal at all. And if he thinks he can ticket them or something, lel. I should note that the chest is only visible to the person wielding Shadowmourne, so yeah. I wasn't super eloquent in explaining to this guy.

Grats on Shadowmourne.

Started the titan runestone section of the cloak quest today. Killed 10 bosses before I called it for the day but managed to nab 5 runestones so not terrible. 4more bosses to kill this week so if rate holds up might get 7 for the week.

Just hope next week isn't some 1 runestone or something crap rng week heh
