It was, yet people still bring it up as if the first game cost 500 million.
Also folks are remembering BL2 incredibly poorly in terms of the "size" of it. It was essentially 4 or 5 areas: The Ice level, The Desert, The Toxic Waste and the Jungle are the ones I remember. I might be leaving something out. To it's credit, there were places you could port to that were "in" the area, but not freely explorable.
For Destiny, who knows what:
Means in terms of content. They could be referring to planets pr specific sections of the planet.
How would you handle areas that have already been cleared out by other players? It's a shooter, you need things to shoot.Breh this, breh that, but Destiny's spawns work exactly like late 90's everquest, exact replicas spawn every X minutes in the same spots, sometimes you get a rare or an alternate spawn.
If you're happy with almost two decade's old design paradigms, the more power to you.
So you cancelled your preorder based on the fact that you had fun with the game and we have no real confirmation of how much content the game has? Bravo, sir.
He can always decide to purchase the game if it comes out and ends up having tons of content.
Over 30 pages on TLoU shadows. Nearly that much on people getting their ridiculous expectations crushed. What will GAF freak out about next?
It's also a sandbox world. You're free to move around and explore different planets or hang out in hub cities like Overwatch where you can find people gambling for better gear. There's a sandy Mars location and a snowy landscape of a buried city. Chicago is a swampland. Europe is a deadzone. Vines wrap around dilapidated buildings. The solar system is flecked with rubble and long abandoned fleets. You can fly through the rings of Saturn. The entire universe of Destiny—the solar system including the Earth, Moon, and Mars—is open to your expedition needs.

No one has said that yet.
Calm down, dudes.
Honestly, I don't think four zones is a big deal. Four Old Russia-sized areas would be about as big as your typical Elder Scrolls world, yeah? Maybe I'm overestimating it, but that sounds about right.
Our ridiculous expectations? Check out this preview by Kotaku:
Please, tell us more about how having this vision shrunken down to five maps is our problem.
How dare people have expectations based on marketing material for a game they are interested in. So entitled. From E3 2013? Oh wow
Not even close, sorry.Honestly, I don't think four zones is a big deal. Four Old Russia-sized areas would be about as big as your typical Elder Scrolls world, yeah?

Forget it then. This news sucks.4 Old Russia zone would be small compared to just the overworld of Skyrim, not to many mention the dozen upon dozen upon dozen of indoor locals, caves, tunnel, underground etc.
He cancelled his pre-order because he probably has a limited amount of money to spend it on games and decided to not commit to a game that might last as long as Bungie had been insinuating. Besides that it's just a pre-order. In a minute I can create one and cancel it on a website.

I don't know, I thought old Russia was pretty big without all the blocked off areas. The maps on the other planets look even bigger. There could also be other areas we have not seen, I don't think its too far fetched to think that they have not shown every area so far. The final game looks to have enough content to easily sink 60+ hours into without completing everything. How is this not worth the asking price?
RIP in peace Destiny pre-order =(
Hoping reviews change my mind. I had quite a bit of fun with the beta.
How would you handle areas that have already been cleared out by other players? It's a shooter, you need things to shoot.
Ah that sucks. I guess we're going to see a lot of dlc then

I don't understand.. nice Journey avatar.
Now that the game is out, I expect reviews today.
Please stop comparing the amount of content in Destiny to the amount of content in Titanfall. It's embarrassing.
Yea, seems to be the case. I don't get the whole "vengeful consumer" thing about a game you don't have to buy. But this is very disappointing, and pushing me to only consider the game for the "GOTY" version. Shame.Well...
I don't think anyone can defend that :/
Maybe they decided to save some stuff for later expansions in order to make more money?
You make it sound like Borderlands didn't have the same spawn doors breh
that spawn system is in everything
So how many of you had issues with PSO back in the day with only 4 areas too?

Oh please, no man's sky looks to have absolutely no depth in gameplay or world. As shallow as a puddle
You appear to be obsessed about Borderlands comparisons, which I haven't mentioned in any of my posts.
Reply to the points raised please, not with Borderlands comparisons.
I think you are misremembering:
Eridium mines
Bandit prison zone
Hyperion prison zone
Crystal caverns (the fridge)
Lava final zone caverns
Bandit stronghold and Hyperion stronghold
River washout
River town and surrounding areas
The other 4 zone types you already mentioned
Old west style town
Damn. So only four strikes for the whole game?
