Metro Redux: Uncovered - A look at Redux

If someone wants to pull some screens I'll add them. Game is looking great, loved Last Light and more people need to play both it and 2033!
$25 each via digital download or $50 for the pack.

From the video:
  • Both games now run at a "rock-solid" 60fps
  • All Last Light DLC included, around 10 hours of gameplay (7 SP missions) + weapons and a few other modes.
  • Two new playstyles added to Redux, Spartan (close to the Last Light experience) & Survival (super-hard, resource management is key, more aggressive enemies, slower swap and reload, etc.)
  • Ranger mode is back and in both games. Harder, and strips away HUD and UI. (Means you have to check your ammo count on the gun and have to check your watch for filter timers and stealth).
  • Metro 2033 has been completely overhauled.
  • Loading screens removed in areas, new areas added, and entire scenarios revamped.
  • Metro 2033 adds customization from Last Light, along with mask wipe, better gunplay, and better stealth.
  • Levels have been re-textured and re-built with new geometry.
  • Time of day has been updated, weather effects added, and new skyboxes added.
  • Global Illumination is now used.
  • Better AI patterns and hit detection.

Can't wait for this collection!

2033 is still one of the only games that has issues with my desktop, I must have gone through that starting area 4-5 times before giving up since the games came out.

From the video it looks like Metro 2033 has been completely overhauled. Loading screens removed in areas, new areas added, and entire scenarios revamped. It plays more like Last Light now.

That reminds me I need to pre-order this. Actually won 2033 through modbot so thanks to that I can jump on the 50% discount. Love these games, looking forward to the Redux of 2033 since that seems to be the one that got the most improvements, which is natural of course.

Have both on preorder on Steam.

Should these be more or less demanding than their originals? I know Metro 2033 can still bring many PCs to their knees.

Looks better than expected. Will download Last Light, already played 2033 on PC but good to know there is some new stuff and improvements if I want to play it again.

Last light had laughable AI. Have they fixed it too?

If you watch the video, that is one of the gameplay improvements they claim.

"Rock solid 60fps".Be careful...
A very noticeable change, good "remaster" and excellent price.

My lawyer is ready.

I'm glad to hear this.

I have a question that anyone who has one of these HD remakes might be able to answer. Do you think Last Light on PS4 will share trophies with the PS3 version? Does Last of Us or Tomb Raider share with the PS3 or do they become their own separate listing. I'd rather not stack or work to get trophies I already have, again.

I loved Metro's atmosphere and the mechanics, but damn I forgot how many little cinematic cutscenes there are. It is an impressive overhaul, I may have to look into this.

The 36 euro price will reap some great sales for this because community will adore it.

I want this to succeed so badly.

And playing it in 1080@60 will be great.

Looks great and love the 50% price on Steam for owners of the original. Hoping that they do a better Linux port this time now that they dropped the Apple version.

Last Light's Linux port was shit missing all of the graphical options and running the ancient OpenGL3.2 renderer that they had on Mac (which was the maximum until the most recent OS X release), meanwhile I've had 4.x for years thanks to Nvidia drivers on both Windows and Linux.

The last of us has the same trophy listing for PS4 but you will need to unlock them again.

I thought the original release of 2033 needed a lot of work so I was happy to grab the Redux pack for 15$ on PC and see how they improve it. It's looking really good so far based on this trailer.

The Redux list appears to be different from the original Last Light list (simplified down from the 70+ that Last Light had with the DLC expansions which now seem to only have 1 trophy per level rather than 2).

Currently polling second in Australia's federal election (first in the Gold Coast), this feral may one day be your Bogan King.
The before and after shots show the upgrade for 2033 is pretty significant. Massive overhaul in asset detail and scene complexity, to the point of removing many loading screens so sequences/stages transition into one another seamlessly. Very excited.

Just like Jet Grind Radio and others like that then. I hope Metro isn't like that. I prefer when a game is like Borderlands 2 or FF14 and just counts the list as cross platform.

Sounds like it's confirmed then. Oh well.

I played Last Light on PS3 (3 playthroughs) and 2033 on PC, well i say i played 2033 on PC, i got about 30mins into it and had to turn it off due to horrific optimisation and screen tearing issues. I tried everything and just could not get that game to run at a bareable quality.

Anyone know if they have included a v-sync option on 2033 for PC this time?

I really want to play both of these games again, Last Light was/is one of my favourite ever games. I just hope the PC versions don't bring my rig to its knees like the originals.

Okay, that looks fucking incredible.

I think this will be the first PS4 game that I actually buy at launch.

Just a few answers :

@Ivanl "Should these be more or less demanding than their originals?"

We dropped 32-bit support for Redux, and made a few more optimizations for PC.

As such, both 2033 Redux and Last Light Redux should be a little less demanding than the original Last Light, which in turn was a stratospheric improvement over the original 2033...

@HiddenForbiddenHolyGround - no, trophies do not carry over. Many are the same, we cut some and added a few others...

@Vash63 - yes, our Linux versions of Redux will use some Open GL 4+ and be nigh on indistinguishable (we hope) from the top of the line DX11

@boneso - yes, V-Synch option for both games

Will it be a unified trophy list, or one for each game?

This is my first time seeing last gen footage of these games. I've always played them on PC...they look terrible

Seems like a package that has a lot of thought put into it. Will definitely check it out.
