New SILENT HILL by Hideo Kojima & Guillermo Del Toro starring Norman Reedus

Explain to me why I own a PS4 and not an Xbox One then. The PS4 right now is in a much better position than the Bone, and its future looks much brighter, when it comes to games.
I own, or have owned, every Nintendo console and handheld. I think you see what I'm saying.

Kojima and del Toro are pretty bad writers. Metal Gear Solid is pretty bad at environment design IMO other than 3 and environment design--along with story and dialogue--are key parts of SH. Now I have faith in the dialogue but story and environment might be pretty lame ocnsidering what I've seen of both of their work.

Still,, I'm VERY cautious about this game. I want this game to do very good but I'm skeptical.
Del Toro a bad writter? What?
Have you seen Pans Labrynth, Espinazo del Diablo, Cronos, even Hellboy?
Pans Labrynth is a masterpiece.

What? If this is exclusive. How is it not comparable?

Because Silent Hill's exclusivity would be a result of Sony collaborating with Kojima Productions in developing or publishing the game, like they did with Bloodborne, Resogun, Rime, and dozens of other titles. In Tomb Raider's case, the game is being developed by Crystal Dynamics and published by Square Enix, and the game would be unaffected had Microsoft not snatched up exclusivity rights. In other words, Microsoft essentially paid to keep that game off of other platforms. Only one of these two games are a moneyhat.

konami can publish games just fine by themselves. and those games you listed are all new ip mostly owned by sony not even comparable at all.

edit: you think silent hill wouldnt be released on current gen without sony ? lol

Silent Hill developed in Japan? Guillermo Del Toro possibly doing creature design / story work? This could be amazing, I can't help but get hyped.

The trailer during the Sony conference made me think this would just be some kind of interactive video, not an actual demo

You know exactly what I mean. Rise of the Tomb Raider isn't going to be some amazing return to classic Tomb Raider with lonely open world exploring where it's just you against the environment/traps/animals.
It will be another 100 XP cover based shoot bang. Silent Hills on the other hand has potential based on the people working on it but yes it could ALSO turn out to be a major turd. ROTR will be turd for me anyway.

Doesn't matter if it's not exclusive. Just shows that Sony cared more about getting first dibs to show the re-birth of a much beloved franchise than announcing that they purchased another generic shooter from Sqaure Enix of all people
That generic shooter is more popular than a Silent Hill game has ever been though.

I don't think that's the same thing. Do you know what Microsofts role was in the development of Tomb Raider? Did they help to actually fund the development of the game?
It's different than throwing a ton of money at a developer just to keep a game off a console. Sony did it with No mans Sky and now Silent Hill. Both those games would have been developed and distributed with or without Sony involvement.
Also times exclusives don't hurt gamers the same way. If Silent Hill was a timed exclusive I would still have a chance to play the game. Now I don't.
____

I really think we should wait for more information
And I know that this might not be the case with No Mans Sky but it probably would have been released on pc without sony or do we have any better information on that?
I'm sure you saw someone else on here use that, but for this it doesn't work at all.
No mans Sky is being developed by a tiny indie team how can you say that, that game would have come out without Sony? Do you know something about the development of the game? Please enlighten me. Silent Hill, we don't know enough about to say, but clearly Sony is in on the ground floor. Microsoft isn't helping to development tomb raider in the least, it's being done by a major publisher same with Titanfall. Both of those games were planned for mutliplat releases and were bought out after the fact. Not sure how you can't see that difference.

I hope the real game isn't first person.

I'll be pissed. I don't like first-person in my survival-horror, and especially not in a Silent Hill game.

Don't think it will be. This message was at the end. And I think they would prefer to have Reedus' face visible since he's the star.

Just a crazy, excrutiating and frustrating but eventually possibly best of all time surprise reveal. Man what a cool timebomb they gave people. Deliberately tricky and slow to make the explosive surprise even cooler.

Maybe the miscommunication was key? I thought the point of the tease was to get people bored and not even consider it, and the few that would get past that awful teaser would reveal a legitimate cool secret if they dived in.

At least, that's how it looked to unfold.

So if MS pays enough to get Publishing rights then it is ok?

They can, the question is, would Konami want to?

SEGA could have made Bayo 2 if they wanted, but they clearly didn't. I'm not saying Sony is or isn't publishing, but I don't see how that would impossible

Quality >>> Popularity. For me at least. COD always wins in sales but GAF hates it

Sunset Overdrive is the only game I regret not being on the PlayStation due to it's fun, unique style

Silent Hill is art house at this point and is now being handled by the Joss Whedon of gaming. How cool is that?

Even if this ends up being a turd, it will be absolutely fascinating to watch it unfold. The people involved, the IP, the potential all around is there for an amazing Silent Hill game.
