Korean MMOs have by far the best character creators out there you know. You could make someone ugly in a KMMO, but why would you?

I really wish more western games would licence out korean MMO character creators. The grand majority of them really are superb, even if most players end up making pristine waifus. A big part of me hopes that Sunset Overdrive's character creator will be at least at APB levels, but it probably won't.

Here's a couple of screens I took a month ago using RealVision. I'm currently using Project ENB but I think I'm going to switch to Natural Lighting and Atmospherics ENB.

Maybe I should turn my FOV back on.

Just...push it way way out.

Is STEP really worth going through? I started modding my skyrim again and am using this for the first time. Damn it takes a while.

Definitely. It's tested well enough to ensure you won't have to worry about conflicts and various issues. They go into detail with several mods to ensure that you install them properly, and overall, it's way better than having to do all the testing yourself. Think of it as reinforcing the base game, which can then be built upon with other mods should you so desire.

It's very much worth it.
It's one time time investment that will serve you well for hundreds of hours of gameplay.

Awesome thanks. I even switched over to Mod Organizer. Seems to be better than NMM so far. I did notice it left out a couple of mods I think of as essential like Frostfall but thinking of it as a base sounds great. What a hell of a base game too lol. I'll put the effort into it and see how it all comes out.

You don't necessarily have to download all the mods

While the core mods are essential if you see a non core mod that you do not like you are free to skip that one .

Welp....

Anyway, I think I've modded my Skyrim almost perfectly stable and to where I want. This is the first time I was following STEP. Took about a week. Played about an hour and holy shit.

First of all, STEP is one of the most amazing community projects for modding I have ever seen. So much time and effort. All of it so worth it in the end. Adding in frostfall, Realistic Needs, some stuff like Enhanced Lighting and Effects, Immersive Patrols. I learned last time to not add a lot of NPCs. I think thats what fucked my game over last time. This time I'm just adding Immersive Patrols and Interesting NPCs I think.

Yo just checking back to update this thread on the enjoyment I'm getting from this game, my first TES game. I've gone through STEP and only really just begun adding a few extra bits for myself. Took a few days from a totally standing start, there was a fair bit of head-scratching at first but with some help from Google, YouTube posters such as Gopher and of course this thread, i filled in the blanks in my understanding. Got a lot quicker by the end too, and given the amount of modification it's achieved, I have to echo the above poster in handing it to STEP project contributors and the modding community in general. Insane amount of work, and the results are so pleasing.

But it was really just a gameplay anecdote I wanted to share. I've recently arrived in solstheim to find out who's trying to have me killed. Got sidetracked immediately being asked to check out a ruined fort occupied by a ghostly voice & too many ash monsters for Lydia & me to properly handle in open combat. However I really enjoyed the challenge of trying different ways to fight them, even though the combat is a joke that reminds me of nothing so much as LARP-ing.

After a lot of deaths - & this may be a slight spoiler if you haven't done this - I discovered the ash guys die immediately if I push them over the walls of the fort with my voice & they fall hard enough. So after a few attempts finding ways to isolate them & stay covered while my shout recharges, I finally succeeded in sending a group of what were previously insurmountable foes to hilariously ignominious tumbly deaths.

Other builds might not have struggled with these guys as much as my pure mage did, but I was so happy to persevere & find a creative solution to the situation. I think even the design of the fort was designed to facilitate this approach. Basically it was a great experience that made me very happy.

Makes me wonder: is there any way of recording your play in-game?

Shadowplay if you've got an Nvidia gpu. Fantastic tool, even saves up to ten minutes of footage in a buffer, so you can DVR it.

I think ATI cards have something similar now, but I'm not sure.

I should play Skyrim again. I'm listening to the soundtrack and getting in the mood.

Thanks!

This could be a very useful tool providing it works on my 660M. Having said that, I was really wondering about something in-engine, so I could change viewing angles and such. Probably a bit much to ask, but then, Skyrim isn't short of a few mods, so you never know!

Open up the console and use tfc or tfc 1. The latter stops time entirely. Do it while in third person, and you can change viewing angles around your character.

Dammit strafer, stop tempting me to jump back into Skyrim. :lol

PC Skyrim Gaf, I apologize if I'm posting this in the wrong Skyrim thread, but I'm looking for some advice. I'm looking around for a new PC that is going to run Skyrim reasonably well (tired of the 360 version!). I'm not looking for highest settings with 60 fps or anything (although that would be great!) - just something that runs 1080p, upwards of 30-40fps on mid to high setting. Ideally I want to be able to throw in a few visual mods too.

A pc I've been looking at has the following specs.

AMD Piledriver FX-6350 Six Core 3.90GHz Processor
•8GB DDR3 1333Mhz Ram
•1TB Hard Drive Storage
•NVIDIA GTX660 2GB HDMI Graphics Card.

Is there anything there that looks like a potential problem for the sort of performance I'm looking for with Skyrim? Any advice anyone can give, it would be really appreciated.

Spring for a GTX690. You'll want the extra vram.

Beyond that, your rig should eat Skyrim for breakfast. And trust me, once you start modding, you will want as much power as you can possibly get.

I use this.

Makes taking pictures pretty easy. It essentially creates 1 button modes that manipulate the world in different ways. A lot simplier than using the command prompt.

Have any of you tried using Amazing Follower Tweaks (or similar mods) to give your followers mod-added spells? How did it work out? I have the Forgotten Magic Redone mod and it adds a lot of cool spells. I want to teach them to my followers but I'm worried it will bork my save. AFT gives me a warning if I try to teach my followers a non-vanilla spell, and I'm too much of a pussy to test it out.

I use AFT. I have 5 followers right now, we roll in a squad.

It works out well and custom spells have never been that much of a problem, especially after I used the AFT patch to make it so they don't aggro against each other if they use bigger damage spells like chain lightning or firebombs.

The one problem I have is with summons. I taught my two conjuration girls a "summon spriggan" spells, and they use it fine, but the spriggans can get confused to who's an enemy and who's friendly, and can end up having party members fight each other. You can fix it in AFT commands and just choosing summon. I usually just kill the summoned thing and that fixes the issue though.

Followers never heal me though, even though they know heals spells. I don't really care that much though.

Can't find anything about whirlwind sideways sprinting.

However this might be worth a look: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/20923/?

Basically adds a dodge command.
Tried it, and the other dodge mod months ago—TK Dodge is still installed actually! I don't really use it as there's this terrible delay that makes it impractical to use in the middle of close-range combat.

I was hoping somebody would tackle something like this, but by using the Whirlwind Sprint Shout; I'd love to use it to dodge enemy shouts. I've read somewhere that Whirlwind Sprint is one of the hardest shouts to mod.

In other news, I've got another broken cell or two on my hands now. :( Think I'm going to have to try going back numerous saves.

Installed some new mods last night and tried them out today. Initial impressions:

Better Vampires — Fucking awesome. I really wish I had installed this at the beginning of my Dawnguard playthrough, because it makes you feel more powerful being a vampire, but it also adds more downsides. But maybe you're like me and you don't want to have extra downsides — well the best part about this mod is that you can turn basically any of the changes on/off in the MCM (requires SkyUI), so you get to completely customize the mod to suit your needs. I would almost call this an essential mod if you choose to play as a vampire.

Royal Bloodline — Another great vampire mod that makes the Vampire Lord perk tree way better. It also gives you Lord Harkon's royal armor while in Vampire Lord form (after you unlock the Royal Bloodline perk), for extra badassery, and it adds some extra stuff to Harkon's bedroom so you can kinda make it your home (I treat it as my vacation home lol). And it also includes a fix for the Serana bug that makes your Vampire Lord's nuke do way less damage than it should. The author of Better Vampires even made a compatibility patch to make the two mods work together.

Daedra of Coldharbour — Another really sweet vampire mod. This one gives you a couple cool new destruction spells, but the main focus is that it adds some awesome daedra summons. The summons are only available to vampires, and it just fits perfectly with my character's lore because I was a powerful mage of the College before turning down the dark path of vampirism. It only makes sense that I should gain some powerful new daedric spells now that I went full Voldemort.

Apocalypse (Magic of Skyrim) — The most popular magic mod on Nexus; I figured I had to give it a try since I'm a mage. It's pretty cool. I definitely prefer Forgotten Magic Redone due to its inclusion of level-up perks for each spell. Apocalypse just adds a ton of spells, some are neat, but I find most of them to be kinda forgettable. I'll keep it, but I'll mostly be sticking to my Forgotten Magic spells because they're much more rewarding to use.

*Edit - I forgot one!

Immersive Patrols — Awesome mod! Immediately after installing this and loading up my game I found myself in the middle of a big Stormcloak vs Imperial battle, while also getting ambushed by a Dawnguard patrol. Later down the road I got attacked by a dragon, a group of vampires, and an Imperial patrol all at the same time. Between those big showdowns I was attacked by a Thalmor patrol, an assassin, several Dawnguard patrols, and several Imperial patrols (I was between Windhelm and Whiterun). Combined with Better Vampires (which provides additional vampire hunter patrols that seek you out) and Royal Bloodline, it was an absolute blast slaughtering hordes of enemies as a Vampire Lord. I highly recommend this mod for everyone. It makes the roads feel much more alive.

Does anybody use Skyrim Mod Combiner (SMC)? I'd kill for a download/torrent link to the entire 18+ GB files as I'm pretty sure I screwed mine up. I've been Googling extensively and all I've found is a German forum hosting a two-year-old version.

Hey guys, running into some problems recently that I've never experienced before and I was wondering if anybody could comment.

I wish I had some screenshots, but what's essentially been happening these days is that, on occassion, some mobs will load into the world-space with absolutely no textures. This typically happens after the game has suffered from a noticeable FPS drop.

Please note that these mobs are not missing textures all the time. Typically what happens after I notice these mobs is that I will CTD, and after restarting the game, the mob will load with the proper texture.

Is this a VRAM issue? According to Skyrim Performance Monitor, I haven't hit the limitation of my VRAM usage yet.

(I will have a plug-in list and load order up soon - just not close enough to my rig to export from Mod Organizer.)

As a further note: has anybody ever noticed incompatibilities between the mods Travel by Boat and Realistic Needs and Diseases? A game recently broke completely for me because I had been bitten by a wolf and contracted Bone Break Fever; apparently, Travel by Boats calls the disease state and ended up clashing completely.

(Again, I will post the Papyrus logs for this in a bit when I can return to my rig.)

Hopefully somebody can help me out with this issue I'm having with Blades recruitment.

Based on what I've been able to sniff out from a few quick Google searches, Ultimate Follower Overhaul is the root of the problem. I try bringing a single follower to Delpine, and the option to induct that follower into the Blades disappears after her greeting. Sometimes I can get to it fast enough to initiate the dialogue, but she doesn't actually carry out the oath with the follower I've brought that succeeds it; just goes about with what she was doing before, with my follower still... Following me.

Is there a way to resolve this without going through the trouble of uninstalling and re-installing UFO?

I have further dark dungeons and revamped exterior fog but I don't recall downloading them, should I turn these mods on?

Those probably piggybacked on NLaA. Check the settings for that one, if you're not using ENB, they were probably kept off during installation.

There's a Dragonborn OT and an Elder Scrolls lore thread, but no community thread. If you feel like making one, go ahead, I'd post in it too.

Why is Workshop not the default method for installing mods? I thought the whole point was to circumvent the need for mod managers or user installed mods?

This may be a really dumb question...

Some things are too big or complicated to go on the workshop. You don't need mod managers but they're useful if you have many mods.

yeah i know of them but their specificity naturally excludes general discussion, like the lore one hasn't been posted in for months but a general one i think would stay active

i don't have the confidence to make threads, also since it seems so much like their should be one but there isn't i thought maybe there could be a reason like the mods don't want one cause they hate me and my feelings

also ot's are all fancy and i can't do all that fancy stuff i wouldn't know where to begin

Guys, I really need your help. I just installed Skyrim for the first time but want to play it on my 3-monitor set-up. I searched and tried changing the Wsize and Hsize in the prefs.ini file to no success. Then I tried a software called SkyrimUW which should do it automatically but to no avail again. :(

Basically. Especially once you get file conflicts, the order in which you install mods becomes important. Mod Organizer is god tier if you're going to be either changing mods frequently or handling lots of mods with conflicts.

I do miss having categories/folders like NMM tho. I'd love to take all the mods I have in STEP and shuffle it into a single logical folder just to make managing everything layered on top a bit easier.

Nexus site has no small amount of problems though, so I wish more alternatives would pop up.

Anyways, what's the status on that expansion mod that allows you to travel to other parts of Tamriel?
