78 for single-screen 16:9Anyone know Halo 4's FOV?
78 for single-screen 16:9
~61 for single-screen 4:3
~100 for split-screen 8:3
(When I measured it, it seemed like it was the same as Reach, and I think David Ellis confirmed that a while ago.)
Thus far Destiny's FoV has been 72, by the way. Both for first-person gameplay and the 3rd-person camera you get in the tower.thanks. for some reason my aiming feels really sluggish compared to destiny. i never noticed it before.
Cannot wait to pick up a Xbox One in roughly 10 months. Friday morning our ship pulls out for a 10 month deployment and that starts the countdown clock until Halo MCC.
I'll attempt to logon GAF to read all of your opinions on the game.
This is going to happen a lot, because of the shared subs on Xbone, now. No more having to pay for Gold for alt accounts. Oh well, though. Also the pros could just create new profiles to abuse the trueskill
Has it been confirmed that there will be a team slayer playlist with maps across all Halo games? I think that would be fun.
Looking at the behavior of players within the context of JIP, it was pretty bad.
The amount of people that Joined-In-Progress AND then quit the game before the end was a disgustingly high amount.

I'm fairly certain they have actually confirmed this in a roundabout way. You see, there will be the standard playlists (Team Slayer, Team Objective, etc) which will contain maps (and therefore the relevant sandbox and settings) from all 4 Halo games. So in Team Slayer the lobby might get 3 options: Sanctuary (H2), Valhalla (H3), and (sorry can't remember Halo 4 map names, quit playing it rather quickly). If the lobby votes for the Halo 4 map, then armor abilities and loadouts will be present, but if they vote for Sanctuary then they won't.
Then there will be a dedicated playlist (at least one, maybe more) for each game. So, say, you choose Halo 2 playlist, then the lobby options might be to vote for: CTF (Sanctuary), Team Slayer (Turf), and One Bomb (Zanzibar).
What I DON'T think you'll see is dedicated playlists for each game in every game mode. AKA I don't think we'll see H2 - Slayer, H2 - Objective, H2 - Swat, H3 - Slayer, H3 - Objective, H3 - Swat. I think we'll just see TS (all games), Big Team (all games), Swat (all games), Team Objective (all games), H1 (mix), H2 (mix), H3 (mix), H4 (mix).
I seem to recall the SDCC panel actually showing a video (or maybe it was E3?) of the pre-lobby where you could select which playlist to search and it was essentially this sort of setup.
Dunno if anyone posted this already, but I just saw it and damn, chills.

JIP is not good. I can't tell you how many times I joined a CTF game down 4-0 or a slayer game where I'm down by 20 kills. I'll say 90% of the time I joined a team where there was no chance of even competing. Now that there's a universal in game ranking system I'm assuming JIP will be out for most of the games.

It would have been the perfect opportunity for a full blown toggle system. Game version, gametypes, maps, perhaps even some basic settings e.g. radar on/off/both. Add in that party leader controls all player toggles in a party as one with their settings and keep some minimum selection numbers while having everything on as a default.
BAM, everyone gets what they want when they want it. It may be too utopian based on population splits but I think it makes Halo fans happier and empowers player/party choice without the need for a full blown custom games browser. After all these years of developer managed playlists I still believe there's nothing like player choice.
I'm hoping the MCC unified interface delivers those levels of player and party choices.
I made a thread specifically for looking for friends for Halo: MCC (both for online lobbies AND local LAN parties).
Halo:MCC Gamertag Exchange and LAN Party Thread
I asked the thread creator here to link it in the OP but he elected not to do so.
MS seems to be focusing largely on their home market because Europe has been dominated by Sony and Sony is now taking their home market. Now I'm not saying it's right, but it seems they don't see the point in focusing on a detail that will only effect a small portion of the units that they will sell. It's a shame, but I think that's their logic.Well, this is it. Microsoft has made an official statement regarding the international localization for the MCC:
Halo 2 will come in full English for Spanish territories, both audio and subtitles. However, we are trying very hard to maybe have a post-launch patch at least with a localization for texts. But we think that Halo: The Master Chief Collection is a superb compilation of Halo games and fans will be as excited as we are.
Brilliant. Despite all the efforts from their community, they're still going with their "no localization" strategy. There goes my copy of the game... Here in Spain this is generating quite a large buzz, sure it will explode as well in America as soon as they wake up.
Microsoft, what are you thinking?

Why can't they do matchaking and custom game browser?? Saddens me so much. It's a utopian dream mate. In reality player counts in MM will probably just barely support around 10-ish playlists after the initial launch madness dies down. Having the ability to toggle on/off certain things, effectively leading to dozens if not hundreds of 'micro playlists', where if you have something toggled 'off' you won't get put into any lobby that has that option set to 'on', would mean some seriously long wait times between matches.
Getting that nit-picky is what custom lobbies are for. Just grab 5 or more friends and set up some custom 3v3, 4v4, 6v6, 8v8 games with whatever micro-settings you wish like radar and such.
"Xbox record that" is built for this game. Can't wait.

Not that it was any trouble to save the whole match in the last 3 games...
ya i didn't know what the story with the OTs were when you PMed me then but i can add it up there now since november is quite far away.
I don't think that's the problem here. The problem is, that you couldn't share those clips with the world. You had to own a capture card, in order to record clips (or you needed a buddy who would do that for you).
Now, that the Xbox One has a built in record feature you don't need any of that. Simply record clips and export them to whatever website you want. In combination with Halo's theater mode, this will work pretty good.
A beta preview survey hinted at customizable "record that" time / individual commands for 30s/1/2/5/10 min and longer record times.that's a good point. The whole "render minutes" thing with Reach was antiquated. hopefully microsoft can bump up the recording time on the xbox one though.
Haha I'm 30+ with kids too, we should form a support group :B
No worries man I didn't mean to come off quite as antagonistic as my post appears in retrospect. Just expecting a lot more posters looking for people to add/friend/etc in the next couple months leading up to launch. The XB1 gamertag exchange thread would ideally suit that purpose, but a lot of folks (especially Halo folks) don't want to sort through that thread to find people specifically interested in Halo:MCC.

I definitely don't envy 343 in having to figure out the perfect amount/type of multi-player playlists. The playlist selection someone posted a little above my post looks good but then you have to factor in how many of those should have a casual and ranked variation of said playlist. You are essentially doubling the number of playlists if you make a casual and ranked version of all of those but one could argue it would be nice/worth it to have those variations for all playlists.
Also, I totally agree about how they should leave join in progress in any non-ranked/casual/social playlists but keep it out of ranked and have some sort of stiff punishment if you quit out. More than just the potential of your level going down. But, another thing to keep in mind is what about people whose internet just crapped out and it wasn't really their fault. Do they deserve the same penalty as someone who maliciously rage quit out of a game?

Which Halo is the most popular now for multiplayer? Reach or Halo 4? Or is that just a silly question....
I ask because I need to get my Halo fix and can't wait until November!
Halo 3
Halo 3
Halo 4 does. Reach's counter can be misleading, as the in game counter shows everyone playing the game, while Halo 4's only shows people currently playing War Games. Next time someone pops in Reach, count each playlists population. That's the number you would need to campare with Halo 4.Doesn't Reach have more active players than 3 and 4?
