I only wish we could see more women at these tournaments.
Serious question (feel free to check post history, not a shit-starter), are there any female pros for halo? Would love to see that.
Or did you mean commentating?

I loved it but the dig at Bungie was unecessary. That's the company that made all the stuff he also loved. And it was stated as if it were a fact, rather than his opinion.
The only one I remember is Xena.
I think there were a few semi-pro ones. They would compete at the MLG tourneys but the teams they were on wouldn't make it too far.
Commentating could work, but there isn't exactly a large pool of women available that could do it.
MLG used to have some attractive lady going around interviewing people but thats about it.

It's pretty bizarre how the fanbase universally despised the existence of a Camo AA in Reach:What I'm still confused about to this day is how a team of so many smart and passionate Halo fans and devs, could look at alllllllll the criticisms of Reach...and then make Halo 4.
Only for it to return and be better/more accessible (custom loadouts for most playlists) than it was before:
The best part of this is the ending.

From what I understand from separate interviews with Paul Russell, and Marcus Lehto, there were parts of Bungie who didn't even want to make Halo 2 but they had no choice because MS wanted it, and that halo fatigue had started setting in with the dev team as early as halo 3 development.
I'm glad Bungie were able to go off and do their own thing that they actually wanna do... And that we still get halo games too ^_^
Bungie going off to make their own thing seems like the best thing for both themselves and for halo.
Yeah, I only mentioned it because 343's bulletin lists pro players and there aren't any women on there. (Unless, of course, I'm missing one). I understand it's kind of hard to find pro players that are women because it takes years to become that good and not a lot of women grew up playing games like Halo, but maybe we could see a female announcer in addition to Bravo (who's amazing)?
The best way to get developers to treat you like adults who want to engage in a meaningful critiqe of a game to suit your desires as a competitive community it to first act like adults and not take petulant jabs at what you (as a community) don't like. You, CyRen, can easily lead the way for Team Beyond.I think everyone respects Bungie for their tremendous work on the franchise, just a fair amount of fans feel slighted with their last game and how they went out with Halo franchise all together. The video is made from competitive guys for all Halo fans, so there is some slight biased on how we feel. The competitive crowd and Bungie just didn't mesh, from them saying our opinions don't matter to mocking members (even if deserved). I'll always love their product but in recent years I can't say I really care about Bungie like I do other studios.
Glad you and the rest of 343i enjoyed the video, Snipetality been making some incredible Halo content in the last year.

Not sure if serious.
About what?
Female casters and players.
There's not any female Halo casters because, to my knowledge, there's no females trying to be Halo casters. Additionally, no female Halo players stuck with the game the way the invited pro teams have.
The pro teams that were invited are mostly comprised of former teammates and former pros in the community who have in some way stuck around the franchise.

It's a legitimate point to bring up, and I'm pretty sure there are plenty of prominent female members of the Halo community that would love to commentate if asked, including some of them at 343.
Ahahahah Frank at the end. Wow.
You're missing the point of my original post, and how are women supposed to get better at commentating if they're not asked to commentate? Same with competing in pro-leagues?I think if there was a female caster who has put in the time and worked as hard at their craft as people like Goldenboy and Bravo, then they should definitely be considered.

They should work as hard as the boys, creating content on YouTube and Twitch casting over gameplays, then once they have a solid portfolio built up, approach a smaller scale tournament organizer like AEL or UGC, after they continue to build their brand, perfect their craft, and gain experience, approaching a large scale event such as PAX or Gamescom might yield the fruits of their labor.
Still not seeing the harm of letting a prominent female member of the Halo community (or 343) commentate.

Are they actually barred from commentating? Or is it just that there aren't any of them commentating...You're missing the point of my original post, and how are women supposed to get better at commentating if they're not allowed to commentate? Same with competing in pro-leagues?
No one is stopping them, there just isn't any. Stop trying to make this into a gender debate.

I bet if you looked and asked around you'd get some willing volunteers.
And bringing up a legitimate point is turning something into a gender debate? Oh man.

Why do they have to be good? It's all about fun, right? I really don't see the harm in letting them commentate with Bravo even if they aren't the best. I'd love to see Kiki or Alison or Bonnie or Jess talk along side Bravo. What's wrong with that? Then who? You haven't really followed any of the competitive Halo community but now you want a female caster but lack of the knowledge of the history of that part of Halo.
I would love a female caster who is qualified and good, this shouldn't be about gender but who is the best at casting up there.
They don't have to be the best at commentating. I read the bulletin, saw that there were only male pro players, and that there were only male commentators at Gamescom. I said I wished there was more women.Just because they might "prominent", it doesn't mean they are good at commentating. If they have the practice and the chance, then there is nothing wrong with them commentating.
This isn't a gender issue.

Well, that's good news. Hope the dialog remains healthy. My comments were more towards Bungie, dialog between 343i and the competitive community is 100x times better than anything before. I believe (no pun) we are in a good place going forward with their recent hires and recent decisions they have done.

No? Especially at events that aren't organized by 343 there is money that needs to be made. Commentators have a huge impact on how entertaining a tournament stream is and it would definitely cost them viewers if its of poor quality. You don't necessarily have to be amazing at first, but if you're not you better at least know a ton of stuff about competitive Halo play. For instance, Walshy isn't an amazing commentator, but the dude knows so much stuff about Halo which makes it fun to listen to.Why do they have to be good? It's all about fun, right?
So you're arguing with me for no reason? If those women want to come in to co-cast for a match or two I see no problem because, again, they are experienced at talking to a camera in front of large audiences representing a brand.
I'm not changing it up at all. I said from the beginning that I'd love to see female members of 343 commentate with Bravo, and yes, even as main casters. You are changing it up then, there is no problem with impromptu interview/casting. As for the main casters, it should be the very best up there. You are repressing Microsoft, ESL, TwitchTV and the Halo brand.
