PAX Prime 2014 Thread: Meet-up details in OP

If GAF is having a meetup, PLEASE check with the place if they are booked. Last year, Von Trapps got booked by EA on the day and I had no way of knowing until I got there.

Yep that was Rule #1. No EA stealing it. Hopefully deets soon. Still waiting on feedback from our Seattle Correspondent on location:p

Yo I'm so gonna be there this year. Saturday only though. Think I might hit up the Giant Bomb panel but I'm not positive. Might be a good thing to meet up at beforehand since it's a bit later after the expo hall closes

I know its very last minute but I have to cancel my plans to Seattle which means my cousin and I won't be able to attend this year. I would prefer not to let these tickets go to waste and would appreciate a GAFfer using them in my place. I Have 4 sets of Friday, Saturday and Sunday tickets. I'm looking for at cost or best offer pricing for the tickets. If interested let me know ASAP via PM. If there is anybody interested in the Orange County, CA area, i would be able to deliver them in person.

Super excited about heading out to Seattle.

Can we do a roll call that way whoever is booking the meetup can have a rough head count?

I'll be there every day with a small group. Or at least most of the days, i can't always handle that much walking as I have a bad ankle. Unlikely we'll attend any GAF meetups but I'm sure we'll all be sharing pics and it'll be fun to see people I saw and visa versa.

Been to the last 2 PAX. I don't have much advice because I'm impatient and mostly just walked around with my wife checking out the sites and sounds, watching people play and jumping into short lines or no-line booths. Waited for 1-2 decently long things each PAX and always feel like I easily got my time and monies worth.

Different booths work differently, more or less efficiently, etc. Some demos are short, so long lines move fast.. some demos are long, so short lines move slow. Sometimes they'll adjust a booth mid-day or mid-conference and suddenly it'll be moving fast at the expense of a shorter gameplay demo for everyone. You might even get stalled out in a line because a booth has technical issues up ahead, or have your line cancelled from under you after waiting. Sometimes prizes run out.. sometimes things you are handed have already had the good stuff taken out by another attendee or maybe a PAX employee. A little bit of patience with the negatives goes a long way.

Looking forward to PAX, getting my stuff together to head down. But man is it annoying to have hotel plans fall through a few days before D:

Has everyone received their badges by now? 'Cause... I haven't. Shipping info in my confirmation email looks fine, but I haven't received word of their shipment and I haven't received the badge itself.

Has anyone played in a tournament at pax before? What's the sign up process like and do the slots fill up quickly?

Find out which room the game is being played in and sign up in there--sign ups usually open when the floor opens. As for slots, it depends what game you're entering but you shouldn't have a problem.

I'll be there all weekend too! Definitely at the ARR anniversary event and the Hyrule Warriors event saturday event. Probably Sakaguchi panel too, just look for a guy with a Miku bag, trust me, there aren't that many

Is there a thread for people who are still looking for passes? Something came up and I can't go. I have two Friday and two Sunday passes I need to offload. Will sell at cost to anyone in the US, I can eat the cost of rush mail.

Assuming Bloodborne won't be playable on the show floor, otherwise we probably would have heard about it by now.

Oh well, there's still Bayo 2!

Would it be bad form to have a separate thread focusing solely on the indies slated to show up at PAX Prime, or should all PAX-related posts be stationed here?

Hey, so a friend of ours can't make it on Friday, so we're left with a spare Friday pass. Any takers?
Need one for a friend who asked last minute (after I promised all mine to other friends/GAF members) so I can grab that from you Friday at the event if it's available?

Hey guys !

I'm panel plugging!

On Saturday at 1:30pm in the Hedgehog Theatre (Grand Hyatt), you should check out the Robot Entertainment panel. We are gonna be talking about the days of Ensemble Studios past all the way to the inception of Robot (if you didn't know, Robot Entertainment = Ensemble reborn) and we will talk about Orcs Must Die! and our new game Orcs Must Die! Unchained along with some never before seen stuff in the game.

The stories will be good, you may hear some new things from the past and you will hear new things for the future as well! I highly recommend checking it out! ;)

Also... we are going to have tons of giveaways. In fact, everyone that comes will walk out with quite a lot of physical stuff and some special surprise giveaways at the end of the panel :)

We are also hosting a "Meet the Devs" drink-up that night at Rock Bottom. It's at 6pm - 9pm and we will have free drinks from 6pm - 8pm. There is no RSVP... Just show up and say hi!

Info is below...

Are you guys demoing your game at Prime?

Unfortunately we won't have a booth space at Prime. It can be hard being the small guy trying to get space. We had it at East but couldn't get something locked in time for Prime.

I can say that people who do come to the panel will get access to our closed beta to try it out :)

If anyone needs a set of passes (Friday-Monday), I'll have at least one set available, possibly two if one of my friends bails (I'll know for sure on Thursday). Happy to sell them at cost ($140 for each set).

I'll be in Seattle on Thursday morning and can meet up wherever and whenever you'd like at the event or otherwise. PM if interested!

So this will be my first year going to PAX despite living in Seattle.

I'm not sure if I'll be going any day other than Saturday, but I definitely want to check out some panels. How does it work? Do you just find the location and line up?

Specifically, what's the best way to get in to the Giant Bomb panel? Does it typically have people lining up well in advance?

They'll have maps to tell you the location of the "theaters" and the schedules.

For something like Giant Bomb you'll want to get there well in advance, like an hour. Even if they aren't letting you line up yet just loiter in the area. Bring something to play!

For Giant Bomb I'd show up 2 hours early.

Crap, my Seattle peeps who were going to scope out some places haven't got back to me. We need to pick a place.

Did everyone like Grimms last year?(The first place we went to after EA gave us the boot) Do we want to start there and possibly pub crawl a bit after again?

Thanks for the responses, everyone!

If I end up on just going on Saturday, I may have to skip Giant Bomb, then. It would be awesome to see the show live, but waiting in line for two or more hours seems like a bit of a waste if I'm only there for one day.

Just got into my hostel. Seattle seems pretty sweet so far.

Picking up my badge tomorrow after going to the Museum of Flight if anyone wants to tag along to look at airplanes at 9AM.
