Well, here goes! (Hope i do this right..)

This, is my set-up. Still a few tweaks to be done. The cable management was never such a conscience decision, but i suppose it just looks more professional, but i did find that if i had it all looking neat, and a cable was visible, it really took away from how i wanted it to look in the end. Hope you like it.

The room is not a huge size, but its nice and cosy and isnt too small to feel squashed in, the alcove works nicely for how i always thought of having my set-up.

Originally, i had a double socket and an aerial port under the Tv, but i rerouted them inside the plaster and brought them out of the bottom of the wall, out of sight.

My popcorn machine is one of my favourite things about the whole set-up!
Dont ask me why lol, my sister bought it me for christmas and i loved it, i dont like using it as it needs cleaning afterwards but it makes such a nice addition, not too big and boisterous but looks a nice centrepiece if you will =-)

The projector's HDMI goes through the joists throughout the ceiling, and out of the otherside behind the unit at the front, whilst the power is wired into a main switch in the living room, right next to the sofa where i usually sit so i can flick it on ready to go :)
BG8Ro3Pl.jpg

As i said, the room isnt huge, but i have a 3 seater and a 2 seater in here, with my coffee table having a shelf underneath it for my pads and remotes, leaving plenty of room without clutter (I hate clutter!!) The canvas you can see hanging was designed by me and my girlfriend, it contains lines from all our favourite movies and shows, it took us a long time to make sure we had thought of them all! theres probably around 100 different movies on there.

my sub is tucked in the corner behind the sofa/door, i put a doorstop so its impossible for the door to collide with it!
jEdQgZcl.jpg

I cut the back out of the unit, so when the doors are closed on it, my kit has plenty of air! U can just about see the port where all the cables exit behind.

In the other side at the right, i have my 360 and PS3 (no new consoles yet!)
i do own quite a few collectibles, but they are all upstairs in my office room, which isn’t quite finished yet, so i can’t take photos.

Cheers

Killer setup.

Wow dude thats awsome. I love the elcove and how everything works out without any cables on sight.

Did you reinovate the room? For all the outlets to be in place ?

I will post my setup too as soon as its ready.
Im too much OCD to see any cabels, so i spent hours on cable managment.

I didn't have to do too much to hide the cables, the house was built and finished in dec 2013 and I drew the manager of the build the plans of the room, and he laid the HDMI In the ceiling for me, all I had to do was measure and drill a hole where I wanted it to come out, then mount the PJ.

Behind the tv they are just simply dropped through a hole in the wall and out at the bottom.

Thanks dude, it's just regular led strip lighting! I have it wrapped around the tv's bracket so it gives even light all the way around!

They are turned straight off when it's movie time though I must say...

This looks amazing! how wide is your project screen? I'm building my basement now and would love to hide the screen like this!

Thanks!

I think it really works well, tv programmes and casual gaming on the tv, but when i bang a movie on it just adds so much more to it when the screen drops. We are currently watching Breaking Bad again, and it's a different experience! The speakers are brilliant to back up the image too.

The screen is 2310mm wide mate, but that is the width of the actual frame the screen drops out of because obviously that is the widest part which you would need to work off.

Hope your basement is going well.

KX-14CP1, SCPH-5500 and DTL-H30101 E.

Despite installing a Mayumi V4 chip, Japanese PlayStation don't play imports - so I can't play my US titles on this machine. Probably gonna get a 5501 to remedy this.

How come there's a stand for a Nendoroid there but no Nendoroid?

Do you have them too?

I'm really interested to hear the quality of them with the built in DAC.
I have the A5+. Don't really have much to compare it to honestly. Only my shitty old Logitech X-230. Which is of course blown out of the water by them.

Over here there were/are no local resellers, so had to take the gamble and order them online. They've been great so far though, but since I'm big on drum & bass, the bass could be a tad heavier. I'm thinking of getting the sub for it sometime when I'm in a bigger apartment.

The speakers on that pic can also be A2s, btw.

Hello gaf, i just moved and my new setup look like this.

+ Gaming PC and PS Vita on the table

I like sticking gaming related collectables all about my game room. I was thinking about picking up one of these;

But it may be a little pricy.

Are they Dali Zensor 5 floorstanders at the front? I have the Zensor 1s and I love them, they sound fantastic - how does the full surround system hold up?

Skel1ingt0n

I can't *believe* these lazy developers keep making file sizes so damn large. Btw, how does technology work?
Got some new gaming art... the LE Journey print above the TV, and I finally framed my "Video Game Alphabet" I got for Christmas a couple years back.

I could use some advice for my gaming setup. I've been wanting up upgrade to an 1080p TV due to the new console gen, would it be better to get a 32 inch or a 40 inch? My concern with a 40 is that I'm currently set up in my bed room and it might be too big for the space.

How far will you be sitting from the TV once you move your setup out of your bedroom? The viewing distance (and your budget) will determine what size HDTV you should go for.

Yeah they are, I decided to buy the whole set rather than mix and match, they sound excellent, although it really depends on the source material (obviously)

Soundtracks with HD audio really do stand out, I like to watch music festivals, they are some of the best things you can watch on a good setup in my opinion, the bbc can do fantastic sound quality (sometimes!)

I have the Zensor one's at the rear, I'll be mounting them up on the walls in the corner fairly soon, not sure when though, but I think it'll really make them sound better.

Do you move the projector into the room to use it? You obviously close the curtains to darken the room so don't they get in the way? And that PJ stand looks precariously close to the edge of the windowsill

I just move the curtains behind the pj.if it's the evening the blinds are usually enough.Yeah it's close to the edge but it's a rented property so can't ceiling mount.

On a bright day I just use the TV, only use pj for movies and late night gaming.

So I moved into my new house last year and part of the wife's rules were that I could start working on the basement unti we've lived in the house for an entire year.

That was up in May! Since then I've been framing, putting up the walls and ceiling, running wires and getting ready.

I finished last month. But of course I ended up having to turn my old gaming room into a dining room, eh..... gotta love the wife.

But I finally finished.

Setup consists of a PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Dreamcast (not connected), Super Nintendo (Not connected), WDTV Live (playing MKV's from NAS), 16TB Synology NAS (DS412+) and HTPC.

Lappy is for work, super secert stuff on there ;)

TV is a Panasonic TC-P50ST60 connected to a Harmon Kardon AVR 1700 (5.1).
Polk 45B fronts
Energy CB-10 backs
Pioneer SP-C22 center
Yamaha YST-SW216 (not pictured)

HTPC has a i5-4590s @3.9ghz, GTX 660 Ti (As soona s the new Nvidia card comes out it gets my main PC GTX 780) 2x140GB evo SSD's (Raid 0) for the OS and 2x3TB (Raid 0) for the games.

The area that stuff is in is 14x15 but due to the shear size of the basement (Half of it, it's separated by the support beams) I still have another 21x11 to play with. Time to get some arcade cabs.

That's good to hear - i'm currently renting, and full surround would be overkill in my lounge but stereo Dalis sound amazing. I should be buying a home over the next year and will hopefully have a lounge worthy of a full surround setup (and posting on gaf) when that happens.

So... after 9 months of living with family due to some financial hardship we've moved back into our old place, which is depressing but at least rent has dropped by a third.

To offset the depressing nature of ending back right where we came from I decided that we needed to totally change the set up of our place. It's a really long living room/kitchen so I wanted to try to split it into two 'rooms' within a room. Most of the furniture are Craigslist finds on the cheap and reusing a few bits of furniture that we kept (even if it doesn't match so well).

The two armchairs need to be sanded down in a bad way, the lacquer on them is fucking thick as hell and chipping away. There is only a bit of a tag on them in some sort of Russian-esc language, but has 1971 on one so I'm guessing thats when they are made. The cushion foam was in okay shape so we just recovered them in some teal fabric. Eventually when we have some money I'll probably get them done properly.

15102573828_f42469027a_c.jpg

The TV unit is being reused from our old set up, it used to be in the office. The TV is from my uncle, kind of a weird swap we did last year to help out my grandparents. I fucking hate it. Input lag like a motherfucker, the only way to alleviate it is being turning the HDMI Terminal Input to "Graphics" instead of "Video" which also washes out the colour and now it does a weird fade to dark while the picture is dark but it takes a few seconds to brighten back up when the scene goes bright. Almost like the auto-dimming feature is on (it's not). Game mode does nothing to help. Terrible, terrible TV.

It does, at least, have a headphone jack so I run that into the Kenwood Amplifier which allows me to use the TV remote volume adjustments. I need to get the bulbs replaced in the amp, but that's a fight for another day. We don't have cable so I picked up an antenna. We get CBC, Radio-Canada (French), City, CTV, CTV2 and Global here in the outskirts of Vancouver. Not too shabby for free over the air. PS4 and Wii U are hiding in the TV unit.

As time goes on and some money starts coming in I wanna get a few funky rugs to contrast the boring ass carpet, get some pictures framed and on the wall, get a new shelf for behind the couch etc etc. Work in progress.

Thanks!

It's kinda funny that aside from my Dell U2410 PC display I only have that Sony screen. No big LCD television. lol

Feel a little out of place in this thread I guess.
