Damn it Durante. I was done with Lightning's saga of games and now you are going to make me have to beat them all again... in real HD.

GeDoSaTo crashes any game I try to use with it I guess. I tried it for both FF13 and then DMC4 and the games crash if GeDoSaTo is running at all.
Are you running with the latest video drivers?

I had the same problem when I was using an ATI card with slightly outdated drivers

If this can all be sorted out to be perfect its kind of amazing how good the game looks at high resolutions. Great texture and model work.

Working great for me, playing at 4k. The frame rate is the only issue, seems to dip below 60 to 30 constantly.

Any one else have any luck getting consistent framerate?

I feel bad for you PC guys. SE knew it was going to be a shit port, and they weren't going to take the time or effort to fix it up before release, no wonder it was so cheap, directly proportional to the amount of time spent on porting the 360 code and putting some higher quality cutscenes in place of the 360's vid files..

Glad that Durante is on the case as usual.
Metal Gear Rising was cheap too and I'd say that was a good port. It had some bugs, like some QTEs working badly when the frame rate was below 60 FPS, but I think that was patched. FF XIII being cheap doesn't give the bad port any kind of justification.

Just change the resolution from the FFXIII .ini

renderResolution 15360x8640@60

Problem is I tried that and get crashes. So wondered if there might be something else in your gedosato.ini that would make it magically work for me.

Seems like I can run it at 3840x2160 at 60fps most of the time, though I had framerate drops when the first boss fired the blue laser thing.

I agree, my main point was that they weren't going to put any effort into it though, cause they are cheap and lazy.

Durante should not have to do this kind of thing for a game that is only average to start, yeah the production values are good, they had to be for a game as highly anticipated, but its still a game that came out in 2009 in Japan and you can buy for 4 bucks at gamestop. Its absolutely unacceptable how they launched at such a level of non quality, like an afterthought.

Same thing happens to me. I wasn't able to get DSfix working with Dark Souls either. I think it may be because I'm using my Samsung Plasma as my display. It refreshes at 60 hz and seems to crash due to changing resolutions on full screen. Any insight?

Because the alternative is that we dont get these ports at all.

If nobody buys this out of protest, they aren't going to be like, "Hey, we should spend more time on this next time". They are simply going to not bother releasing these ports at all.

If that's what it takes for companies to get the hint. Is throwing money at them regardless any better?

I deactivated postprocessing and AA using this software and now the game runs a lot better to me and still looks very good.

The game still doesn't use more than 40% of my GPU's power though... yes, I checked the power settings and set them all to "Maximum Performance".

Has anyone with a Phenom II x4 965 or equivalent AMD CPU managed to get a solid frame rate? I get constant drops to the 20s regardless if I run at 720p or downsample from 2160p. Both in field and battles. It's nowhere near smooth even if I force 30 fps cap.

Ah neato, well I guess I'll get to this Monday then if no one else does it since I can't figure it out at all and I have the dumping and everything set to true.

I had a look at texture dumping and the game seems to crash when I try it. So I don't think I can help with it.

Hmm, I can't get this to work for me. I downloaded GeDoSaTo (my first time using it), but when I activate it, neither my game nor Steam will start. I click the icon's and nothing happens. I can deactivate it, and the game will run, but if I activate it in game there is no difference.

Does anybody have a suggestion?

EDIT: Nevermind. I got it to work by running the game from it's file location rather than clicking on the desktop icon. Really amazing stuff. This makes the game look infinitely better and actually makes it run smoother on my PC. Thanks!

As great as this is and as much respect as Durante deserves, I still feel like it's bailing out lazy development.

Double edged sword I guess :/

It's funnier that esc exits the entire game

Actually that's very common for Japanese PC games.

It's basically the "Oh shit, the boss is coming, gotta close this fast!" key.

It's just kind of jarring when everyone who grew up with Doom instinctively assumes it's the pause/main menu button. :p

I have the PS3 version and a 12 year old PC, so maybe it's just not my fight to care about, but from an outsider perspective, they put you guys over the rails.

Not really? In all three cases so far we've got:

- Worst case scenario in Dark Souls: console visuals, better framerate, cheaper price, awesome DLC included a month or so before it was released on consoles.
- Worst case scenario in Deadly Premonition: This one is basically the console version out of the box, but it's kind of a technical disaster on every platform, so really, why expect any better.
- Worst case scenario in FFXIII: Slightly worse looking CGs, same visuals as the console version, twice the framerate, Japanese audio, very late port but crazy cheap.

But as it so happens all three games have had most of their biggest issues resolved, and as this thread shows, to VERY great effect visually.

Finally tried it out... looks really damn good at 4k. Only frame drops I get are drops to 50 on the transitions into/out of battle. I hope they do something about the performance, but that's satisfactory for now.

Absolutely true. Maybe Valve needs to put their foot down, and for bigger developers on Steam, enforce a small, sane set of requirements regarding these sorts of issues.

Did some testing now. Highest resolution that works without crash on startup is 3811x2144.

If I increase 1 pixel it doesn't work anymore.

Worked great for me on a 760, need to do some tweaking so that I don't have as variable of a framerate but still an awesome fix.

When I take screenshots, they are showing up as 1080p instead of full resolution. Even using Afterburner and the Full Screenshot gedosato function.

I guess. But you'd think they'd go the extra mile and just ask some tech-savvy modder to release a good product, it's not like it's hard.

Does anyone else think it is beyond pathetic Durante was able to get 4K support in FFXIII within a single day of release and SE couldn't do it with god knows how long of time with the port?

I mean come on man. WTF. Same with Dark Souls and other games. These devs man .. i don't even know whats up with em anymore.

Amazing work though. Makes me want the game ...

Really? The program lets me set 7680x4320. I can start the game. Performance acts accordingly (i.e. drops to 30fps), EXCEPT at the very end of battles right before the status screen when all enemies disappear. Then my FPS jumps almost to 60fps while still rendering the game. I'm running a GTX Titan. I'm wondering if there is a Dark Souls 30fps/15fps esque performance limitation hard coded into the game.

BTW, you want a 4k60fps game to show off on your expensive 4k monitor/TV, this could be that game if you have the right card.

Can't wait for screenshot support.

Looks like my 4k monitor's gonna get another workout :)

They just don't care.

I'm sure they could but they just don't care to or are unaware of what PC gamers expect? No idea tbh.
