If it really does end up coming out in October it'll be pretty good timing for me as I'm just about to wrap up another jrpg so I'll be clear for a new one.

So I was hoping to have something exact exact, but we got some good news back today and we're still looking solid for an October release.

Thank you for the update.

Even though it's basically just an announcement of an announcement (and I realize this is all you can offer at this point with the game having been in submission for a while), it does show your intention to keep Euro customers in the loop. Which is appreciated.

I do hope that Atlus starts seeing this as a good practice from now on, and this is not just because there was a bit of flack with this specific release.

Awesome, thanks for the update John. I'm pretty skint this month but I'll try and support this as soon as I can.

I really, really wish there was some easy way for Atlus to open a branch in Europe. I love their games and want to support them as much as I can, but it's difficult without any easy way to do so. The closest we have is NISA, so I hope they stick with them from now on, at least.

I would mention Sega since they're publishing P4AU, but I don't know how viable that would be. Hopefully very.

Well, a branch is quite an investment, and probably not even a viable given how they often hook up with third parties to publish their games.

But they could for example open a website or blog dedicated to all their European releases, where all Atlus related news (press releases, tweets, ...) is gathered. It would show some more commitment to the Euro market at least.

Such a platform would also be suitable for cases like this, to keep Euro customers updated.

LOL 30th October then. No way this is going to be next week. What a sad trainwreck, but it is 20$ | 20€ right? I will buy it then, but I also hope that this won't happen like that in the future again. I like to support this company, but they have to think about us too. SMTIV is already very niche.

European OT subheading suggestions =P?

I was gonna use
"Shin Megami Tensei IV |EU OT| The True Digital Devil Saga"

Cause you know it has been a crazy journey... =(

Not to bash Atlus or anything, but I figure doing something like that would imply a commitment to making sure their games get out in Europe and it doesn't seem like they want to do that quite yet. They are making steps towards it (they didn't have to self publish Conception 2) but it doesn't feel like they're quite there yet. SMT IV feels like more of an obligation than anything.

I don't think they completely don't care about Europe (iirc it was Atlus that made sure P4AU wasn't region locked?) but with their games still being thrown around a few different publishers they don't exactly have a concrete deal in place either.

More like October 31st, for Halloween.:p

I just hope the release date is not the same of Bayonetta 2, I only have time to play one game per day, I would need to stay awake till very late than usual to enjoy both.

Well, unless you can complete Bayonetta 2 within 6 days (provided it does come out on Oct. 30)...

Or maybe

Shin Megami Tensei IV [EU OT] Even Stranger Journey

I think someone suggested somewhere "Atlus Shrugged", I thought that was amazing.

edit: it was LayLa in the original announcement thread (now closed). I don't know how to link to the message, sorry, but it's easily found by doing a search.

The P4A region lock had nothing to do with Europe. They region locked it so that Japanese gamers wouldn't import US copies, because the Japanese and American release was at around the same time. At that point a Euro release probably wasn't even an issue.

So Europe wasn't even taken into consideration, just as it wasn't with the omission of a region lock on P4AU.

Oh, I knew P4A had nothing to do with us but I reckoned the P4AU region locking was due to the uproar from European customers. I wouldn't have thought it'd affected those in the US too much. My mistake!

Great, but they missed the boat for me. The SD slot in my 3DS died this week, so it's going to have to wait for the EU release of the new 3DS.

And by then I'll probably have forgotten about this game.

Oh darn it. I'd hope this would get delayed longer because I can't use my university's wireless on my 3DS. But it is nice to know our plight is finally coming to an end.

Maybe it's because I'm tired but I don't get Atlus Shrugged, so I google'd it
