This is an exciting post.
On top of that we are only seeing small updates at this point for small pieces of functionality. The big OS updates will be coming in line with Windows 10 next year and then whatever os follows that...they will be huge updates (perhaps with less forward facing features).

yes, but you need an external tuner w/ hdmi out. MS sells them in Europe but you can easily get a 3rd party one

the 360 went through at least three full UI overhauls, and Netflix didn't arrive until three years in or so. the UI got tons of updates in the years following.
if by eventually you mean years down the road, then sure, but this seems like an intensely bizarre statement to make based upon that evidence in particular.

from the video it looks like all you'd need is your cable wire or TV aerial plugged in.
yeah, that's all you need w/ the usb tuner MS sells, but it is only available in the UK

That's the thing, though. I can't imagine what new features will be added in 2015 (sans Screenshot) because I can't think of what more MS would add besides what's already mentioned.
And I'm more excited for it. Surprise us, Microsoft!

I'm a little disappointed for no Xbox Music or my own mp3's in background. This is a feature i use a lot on my PS4, especially for racing games. I'm pretty sure it will come really soon but i just can't wait for it to come so i can fire up Forza 5 and Forza Horizon 2 and put some dope beats. Especially for Forza 5, the music in Forza 5 is really fucking bad, i don't how they came up with that kind of music...

Pleeeenty they can do. Totally revamp achievements (I want stats, trophy case, leaderboards). Clans. Game channels. The real good stuff!
I imagine once they have all the obvious stuff done they will be concentrating on Windows 10 update?

Oh! And while you're at it, can we get the old Netflix back? This one is godawful for the Kinect voice commands and I can't even get into Netflix via voice. I have to turn my controller on to sign into a Netflix profile, voice commands don't even work at that screen.

THIS. New Netlix app is awful.
I'm super excited about the TV stuff and the new What's On tab. I honestly didn't use the OneGuide feature much at launch, but with all the improvements they are making, (especially with SmartGlass) I find myself using it all the time. It's to the point where it is as fast or faster than my Dish Hopper interface for many things. That's impressive, since the Hopper isn't slow for a satellite receiver.
You can use any picture you want with the update to the media player coming next week, they say it in the video going over the features.
People have said this before and it's a great idea. It won't effect the current functionality at all, since you need to hold down the button for a few seconds to put it in "sync" mode. Make it so a quick tap takes a screen shot instantly. It just makes so much sense.

I use One Guide every day and I also feel like showing trending TV shows is not the best use of the console's resources, however it does differentiate it from the PS4 in that it offers this level of TV integration (in some regions, admittedly) so it's not that bad.
Through its Preview Program MSFT allows users to see these updates a week or so before they officially roll out. I forget how I got into the program, I think as a launch day owner they emailed me and I signed up. See more here:

Wasn't the intention to be a hint. My message was: November will be not as huge as the October update. I just wrote "beat" because I thought the word sounds dumb in that sentence, but I couldn't find a better one

Well they are at a pretty decent state already, so excited to see what's to come. I hope they can get the loading times for the apps down, I mean it doesn't take forever, but when I snap achievements for the first time it takes like 4-5 secs to appear. That is too long for such a small app. Should be instantaneous or 1-2 secs max. That would go a long way in making the experience better...
Don't want to pull out any specific features out of your nose, but have you seen updates that are still far off? Are they glorious?
I would love to see a roadmap for the next year....

This is a great update. Can't wait to set my titanfall achievements as my background. They have some of the best art.
Does anyone else want Microsoft to split up game and system notifications?
I don't really want to see achievements popping but its annoying that turning them off also turns off low battery notifications.
