Halo: MCC Halo 3 in 1080p/60FPS Glory - IGN First

Yup, for all the games that had it before: Halo 3 (campaign and MP) and 4 (MP only).

I believe they mentioned H2A MP has theater mode as well, probably have to go back and look that up (or get confirmation on here).

Edit: Yes, H2A MP has theater mode: https://www.halowaypoint.com/en-us/...-halo-bulletin-assault-on-controller-settings

Halo Waypoint said:
• Thumbstick Layouts*: Default, Southpaw, Legacy, and Legacy Southpaw
• Button Layouts*: All original button layouts in addition to the above universal control schemes, minus Southpaw (read on, lefties)
• Southpaw layouts have been upgraded. The traditional Southpaw button layout has been removed and replaced by a more customizable lefty set of options for each game:
• Bumpers and triggers can be swapped for any control scheme.
• The DPAD and face buttons can be swapped for any control scheme. In addition, if the DPAD is swapped, it can also be inverted.
• Look Inversion*: Frankie or Not Inverted
• Look Sensitivity*: 1-10
• Impluse Triggers*: Can be turned on for Halo 2 Anniversary Multiplayer, Halo 3, and Halo 4, and are independent of “Vibration”
• Auto Look Centering*: Enabled or Disabled
• Crouch Behavior*: Click or Toggle
• Flight Inversion*: Enabled or Disabled
• Theater Controls (Halo 2: Anniversary Multiplayer, Halo 3, Halo 4)
• Turn sensitivity: 4 levels
• Panning: Hold to pan, toggle
• Camera Speed: 4 levels
• Camera Thrust: 3 levels

Having never played the original but seen all the hype towards this, I think I've been spoilt by Destiny, this looks fricking bland! Explosions seem non existent and everything just seems too sterile.
Well there's plenty of actual content here, and better yet, there's no farming.

I remember when farming was a term reserved for MMOs. It was a better time, for some things.

It's rather silly to compare the visual presentation of a game created 7 years ago to one that was just released about 2 months ago.

You should play it. Its multiplayer is ahead of its time and still one of the best out, today. No joke. The graphics for it are fine. See it in action.

Apparently my computer lacks the oomph to even play the video properly, but to me it doesn't really look like 60 fps...

Halo 3 looks gorgeous, but I was a bit disappointed to see the LOD dithering effect still in action.

Dammit, this is exactly the type of thing I was hoping would be fixed in these ports. Hopefully the footage is from an earlier build or something. Features that destroyed image quality for the sake of preserving performance on the limited 360 hardware have no place in a version of the game running on drastically more powerful hardware. Maximum quality LOD for models and textures really ought to be in place at all times.

Hopefully, but I doubt it.

Check out the tree line in that shot around the :45 mark, that's not video compression, it's dithering.
Compression would have just smudged the image (block compression). As mentioned earlier in the thread, the dither is part of their LOD transition.

The grass also has the screen-door dither btw, although it's sometimes less noticeable with the thicker patches.

There should be a drinking game created for how often IGN references 1080p / 60 for MCC.

It is embarrassing at this point.

I fucking hate that site.

Sorry Stinkles, but this. =(

God this looks so amazing. Halo 3 is the best looking game in the series IMO, I didn't like the changes they made to the art-style in Reach and 4. Halo 3 is just this gorgeous explosion of colours.

Quick question about the MCC. With everything being accessed through a unified menu, does this mean that the original title screens and load screens won't be there? It's a really, really minor thing, but my nostalgia... I was a big fan of how Combat Evolved: Anniversary had updated versions of all the original menus.

Any word if the Halo 4 LoD has been increased? because it was awful at some points. If you scoped across maps like exile half the map wouldn't be visible.

Don't blame them, blame the people who are suddenly making such a big fuss over those metrics. Last gen no one announced resolution or framerate before launch, now it's basically mandatory.

I don't recall having trouble with lan games on halo 3. Played it all the time too.
Yup. Get rid of the terrible netcode and bump that movement speed up to 110% and Halo 3 is amazing.

Correct, although sometimes you'll get the OG choonz and pieces of art, depending on screen.

This is in fact pretty disappointing.

Stinkles, possible patch?

Can't watch the video until way later. Does the texture filtering look improved? Other than the low native resolution and lack of AA, this was probably the biggest offender to the IQ.

I don't know why but everytime I see this in 60, its so jarring. 30 for Halo has been a staple for so long. Hopefully it doesn't take long to adjust.

Dude that's what I hate about so many games nowadays is their LOD is often so bad with texture pop in and shadows just coming into view.

The most ugly thing in games IMO.

Will splitscreen still have black borders on the left and right of the screen or will it run in proper splitscreen now?

Can someone confirm if frame rates remain at 60fps in splitscreen? I'm going to be doing a lot of split screen..it would stink to miss out on that feature.

I forgot how god tier Halo 3's OST is.

That brute bunker room section with the beds in it though, god I hated that from the campaign.

New fans better be careful not to get hyped. The game does not play like COD and destiny. Its slower pace and more methodical. Do not expect craziness and weapon distribution is limited. Its more about knowing the map then other games.

60fps is cool but really just seeing Halo 3 and 4 with no or extremely little aliasing/jaggies is amazing. It's basically playing the games as good as they looked in theater mode stills which always were leaps and bounds cleaner than the game itself.
